When his coach in Japan was asked what impressed him about Shohei the most, his answer was, “His personality”. The interviewer was obviously asking about his ability to play basketball, but that was his answer. That makes him the best baseball player in the world as he is loved by so many people by all means ❤❤❤

The man grew up reading Major. Every child in Japan who was a fan of baseball wanted to be like Goro.
Ohtani has already surpassed Goro. He'll be a 3-time unanimous league MVP the same year as his first world series win, and this will almost certainly not be his last world series win (Goro only won once in a full major league career). Goro was a fantastic pitcher but by the end of high school he was always second in batting to Toshi.

So I was trying to tune into TMZ on Fox last week, but baseball was on. Not a fan. At all. I have heard of that Japanese kid Ohtani though, being an Angeleno and all. I noticed he was up at bat, and I thought, "Wait, I thought he was a pitcher!" Wasn't he? And pitchers don't hit. Do they??? I honestly could not remember, so I sat down and started watching the game. Before I knew it, some dude named Freddie Freeman hit a GRAND SLAM which I had never seen before, and the roaring crowd, even through my television, made my hair stand up on end. So now I am into baseball, and a huge fan of the Dodgers (great job!!), and I am in love with Ohtani.

This video is historical, not current, and completely lacks the past year's performance except for a brief, vague reference at one point. Virtually all the video clips are from his play in Japan and then hs Angels career. While describing the highlights of his 2021 season, we're shown photos and video of him when he was a teenager and his play with the Fighters in Japan. It also uses a digital voiceover and graphics that are laughably off-base. (Ohtani had a batting average of "285" in his first season--no period in there as in customary. And phrases like "this would go without question" suggest it's coming from an AI composition.) I'm an Ohtani fan but have to cringe at some of the juvenile gushing and cheesiness of this video.

      MVP: most valuable player.
It basically means how much you contributed overall to your team over the course of 162 games in the season. The most outstanding player of the year.
Dude did steals, hits, homeruns, get on base and high rbi count.
So let me ask you what exactly did any of the complete ball players in the NL did so great constantly over 162games that made them deserve mvp.

Well, the difference is that Rose did indeed gamble but Othani doesn’t. The man only cares of baseball and nothing else. He has been cleared by several government agencies. With tons of proof his money got stolen from a old account he doesn’t even manage except by his interpreter when it was first created.
So he must somehow be the greatest and most powerful man in the US if several government agencies vouches for him along with the bank and mlb while also able to convince someone to admit in bank fraud and risk decades of prison which would completely destroy their life and marriage. Even the US president doesn’t have that power and would envy him. The IRS and FBI must really fear the guy then to able to put everything under the rug. 😅

He's only lucky.. if he had grown up here in the US.. after HS ball he WOULD have been forced to give up either his time on the bump or hitting. Everyone celebrates him but the reality is.. there have been many that entered either the low A-Ball ranks or NCAA and those levels made the one dimentional. It was different in Ruths era because until the 70's, pitchers still swung a bat at all levels.. today, teams don't even want them to touch them. (I personally think we've lost something by the DH rule.). I still consider Ruth better because unlike Shohei... Ruth was one of the top 5 pitchers in all of baseball (the best in the AL.. )and when he started in RF he was hitting 60 bombs on fields that had coors field dimentions (without the altitude) and entire teams were not hitting 60... I've not yet seen shohei out homer any teams nor be a top pitcher... he's been good.. but not in the cy young debate good. Still, there are many good young players that enter pro-ball as 2 way players. rick Ankiel was one... but the powers that be don't want that. If we removed the DH rule, that would clearly slow that practice.. but it happens OFTEN.
