    I was curious about a job that paid you to travel and Global Work and Travel was the first search result. I got a call a day later and I wasn't expecting it, lol. The guy was nice but I am always cautious so I looked up the company and here I am. I am nervous to commit because I have never been outside of the U.S., but I really want to travel before I commit to a career and "settle" down. Thank you for posting this video and giving insight! It's really helpful.

    I’ve just booked to going on a WHV trip to Canada for up to 2 years, I’d only heard good things about them. Was quoted £1995 then was “lucky” because there’s discounts today. £400 off! I begrudgingly paid it because I thought I’d need it… two days later they quoted me £3449 for insurance 😳 I almost passed out! I did not pay this, and will not pay this. I was also quoted £1250 for a 1 way flight so will not be paying this either! I hope I don’t have so much trouble getting a job!

      I have just done the same, A mate booked to go to canada 2 years ago with them and recommended them to me. Cost him £1200 at the time. He said they charge ridiculous amounts for insurance and flights. Today they proved him right telling me insurance will be £3500 and a 1 way flight which is ‘flexible’ will cost £995! I took a look online and insurance should be about £500 and flights in November atm are £350. Apparently they take awhile to find you a job too 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Try to dispute the payment and get your money back. Block and ignore their phone calls they Will try to get you reeled back in. The company is a scam there’s articles about when they were investigated for ripping off ppl a few years back. They almost had me when they called me when I requested an inquiry call just to simply get info on them. I simply wanted to know what they were about and to collect info as I was comparing them with other work visa companies I’d seen. They tried to coerce me into putting down a payment that same day as if spots were filling up they make it seem like it’s your only chance to sign up. They are very persuasive it’s a sales tactic. • @KpopR9

    So they are kinda a scam because they charge way too much for little service. I personally do regret paying 2k for something that I'll never use because I did put my work holiday program on hold. Maybe someday I'll volunteer somewhere. I don't know. And I definitely hated how much I was pressured to pay in the full amount the same day, and when I say no I'll decide later the agent tells me (oh is there something I'm not explaining properly? because you're making me feel I'm doing a bad job) For fu*king sake really? They guilt you and that's evil! They also keep trying to scare me with the "there won't be enough job options left if you wait longer plus you get a $100 discount) Yeah, that threw me off with that and since I'm a passive person, unfortunately, I ended up paying in full and regretting it the next day. And yes, their target customers are young people that have some money saved up and about to make the decision by spending them just because they want to try a new experience. For me, I'm recently learning that I'm not that young (28) and I should rather save my money for something else. I'm still confused about my life, but hey! who isn't! :)

      You dont need a BA for a TEFL certificate. And thats all you need to teach abroad.

      Hi Melissa, I'm also doing some research on this and am looking on the website of Go Overseas. Some places don't require BA's nor do they require teaching degree (depending on geographical location). However, if one does have experience, they would be picked sooner. Or if they have the TEFL certificate. These help but not a requirement.

    From the U.S to Europe they told me it would cost $3,185! I'm looking around to see how much each of the services offered cost individually. I intend to basically be working abroad indefinitely, so it seems more reasonable when I think about $3,000 as just the cost of moving. But I don't know yet if its grossly overcharging.

    Hi Kelly-Anne. Thank for the upload - was helpful.
    I'm looking to do the same thing except in NZ.
    Is there scope to stay there longer? Say you were offered a permanent role somewhere. I understand this would ultimately mean your working visa is void but if the position is good enough i've heard some companies arrange a new working visa.
    Did you come across any people who started on a working visa with GlobalWork and then progressed onto a permanent position in NZ? Perhaps even outside the job they offer?

    • @kelly-annelouise3098
      @kelly-annelouise3098  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Ricky,
      I've never looked into NZ but I assuming that their laws are the same as Australia. So to stay there longer there are three options: Do 88 days of work (on farms, building site etc) for the 2nd year visa, this has to be completed within your first year. For a third year Visa you have to accumulate 6 MORE months of that work during your second year. Option 2: Fall in love and get a partnership visa, these take a while so you can bridging visa, so you wouldn't need to worry about getting kicked out the country - luckily for you, NZ partnership visas are way cheaper than the Australian ones.
      The third option (which you actually asked about haha) is getting a permanent. For this a company would have to sponsor you. I'm sure there are visa's for contract work for jobs that may only acquire a year or so but the sponsorship is what you really want. Global work and travel from my understanding do not help you get a sponsorship, you would have to get this on your own. BUT if they do set you up with a job and then you speak to your new boss about sponsorship, they may want to do so. Everything depends on the actual job itself rather than what Global will do for you. It may be worth looking straight into companies that already hold sponsorships. I know people that have got jobs out there wether that is through Global or themselves, and even though the companies want to keep them on it just isn't worth it for them. There are so many people looking for jobs, and it costs the company money to sponsor you - I'm sure it's not that much - but they would also have requirements. For example with my job: I was working full time in hospitality, and I was basically doing the job of a supervisor- training staff, opening and closing etc, and even though I did have the job title of supervisor for a year prior to moving to Australia, they would only sponsor someone with 3 years minimum management experience. It is very competitive and there are 100 other people that can do the same job as you. Australia is a lot busier than New Zealand though so it may be less stressful and easier to get! Global may be able to advise you if they have heard of companies providing sponsorships, but to be honest it might just be worth a few hours of looking on online forums instead if that would be the only reason you sign up with them. Everyone that I met on my travels that had been to New Zealand told me how beautiful it was, how it was the happiest moments of their lives and how lovely everyone is there! I'm sure that whatever you decide logistically in getting there, you will have an amazing time. If you can't find sponsorships immediately then please don't get stressed, do the 88 days framework at the start so that you have flexibility with your visa's and just apply your butt off - your hard work will pay off :)
      Sorry that it is such a long response, but hope that it is helpful. I'm sure you've already visited it, but the immigration website is really helpful and shows you all your visa options. I also found that joining facebook groups for the area that I was in was helpful with jobs.The second website is just the first thing that came up when I googled visa sponsorship jobs in NZ, might be worth a look.
