YESTERcades (Red Bank NJ), 4K arcade walkthrough & tour, May 2024

The fourth and final of the YESTERcades locations in New Jersey (to date!), we've gone in reverse order here. The Red Bank spot is actually the original one to open! As such, it's probably the smallest in space, but they have an excellent selection of both retro arcade games and pinball machines. You'll find all of the classics and favorites here, from Pac-Man and Asteroids to Street Fighter II and The House of the Dead. Pinball has a good mix of games from the 80's through 2010's, with stuff like F-14 Tomcat, Cyclone, and Attack From Mars sitting alongside newer Stern titles like Wrestlemania and KISS. On top of all that, they have a number of TVs set up along the walls that are connected up to pretty much every retro and modern console available, and they have a huge library of games to choose from -- so if you're getting the urge to play through Shenmue again, you're in luck!
Please note that the back room is the party room, and as such, if it's been booked for a private event, the games in that area may not be available to play until the party ends. But honestly, this chain is one of my favorites for when you want to just check in and play games to your heart's content. Between the four locations in Red Bank, Westfield, Somerville, and Metuchen, it's hard to pick a favorite!

Welcome to my stomping grounds of Monmouth County! I don't go to Yestercades often because they barely repair their pinball machines (if you went there in May, you'll probably notice that both rails for the inlane/outlane guides are missing on Goldeneye), and some of their gun games are not properly calibrated.

Goldeneye was not playable for most of the day while I was there. I didn't really have any other complaints about the rest of the machines though. I didn't get around to updating PBM because it was a madhouse that day. Lots of birthday parties.
