This is like Anakin braggin about how he 1v20 the jedi knights... when he took out the younglings in Naru gear.
"The Nuetral" isn't quite just a ShakyBay term, but he is applying it a bit questionably. It's a term borrowed from fighting games. While a bit nebulous, it applies to the game state where neither player has an advantage (neither of you is CC'd or in an advantageous position). How you approach the neutral is a big part of the game, because if you can't win neutral (i.e. land a CC or trade favorably into super armor), you have pretty much no chance at winning the fight. From a lot of the BDO PvP class guides I've seen, I think he does have a point where a lot of BDO players don't put enough thought into how to approach this part of the game. All those fancy combos they list won't do you any good if you haven't developed your strategy for landing that first CC.
he calls its neutral, explains it with no advantage or disadvantage and then goes ahead and call it neutral game when his opponent is full hp while he trys to survive on 100hp... yeah he not the brightest but lets be honest this video is part guide and part jerking off to his own clips

Shaky started beef with my guild at garmoth. I was AFK and he went full try hard on my character while I was eating. It was the funniest thing to see because he even moved behind me fir back damage. He got farmed and left, never made a video. We have a clip of him dying to our GM who was a Shai. Lmao

Also in reference to whiff punishing, yeah, the dude is pretty cringe when talking about it, but it really is one of the hardest skills to master in fighting games (which BDO kinda is, with some caveats). It's a lot more nuanced than just 'hit your opponent when they can't fight back', even if that's essentially what it is. The real skill comes with using your movement to trick and bait your opponent into whiffing their attacks in the first place, which is something he didn't cover here. You have to use a combination of movement and posturing to trick and bait your opponent into committing into an attack that will whiff, then punishing them before they recover. It's subtle and needs to be tailored to your opponent (both player and class).
And yes, maybe he's just picking on bad players here, but this is something that can definitely still apply at higher skill levels, it's just harder to pull off. At some point either you or your opponent has to commit to an attack if the fight is going to get anywhere. A player skilled at whiff punishing will be able to trick their opponent into committing to an attack that will whiff and punish them for it.
Every clip he shows is him in full PvP buffs vs players who are either undergeared or in PvE buffs.

Neutral is when two ppl are facing each other protected, or at safe distance(done to regen resources and prepare for the second phase)...it's a fighting game term. Along with second phase, "poking/footsies". BDO is heavily designed around this and fighting game mechanics apply. Where s term even comes from...same with "chip damage", "combos" and "whiffing" etc. All these terms come originally from fighting games.
Also, theres even sub-terms...like when Ninjas used to have to intentionally whiff skill to avoid the weaker cc and avoid the limit. Knowing these terms and their roles and purposes will improve your pvp.

32:21 Zerker grab is 500 years because the CC doesn't start until he slams you on the ground. That's a massive oversight. They need to fix that. That's 500 years that the other team has time to push and you're essentially out of the fight. CC needs to start as soon as the grab connects aka CC starts as soon as you lose control of your character aka CC starts when the Crowd "Control" starts.

So yeah, mouse to move pretty much is tie to class.
You can deff play any class w/o it, but some takes advantage of it better (succ wiz, succ sage, lahn awakening, etc.)
Crop mode dramatically increases performance. 100% suggest if you can
In Fighting Game terms,Neutral is defined as neither player is in an advantage or disadvantage state.
Being up against terrain that limits movement, being hit by cc fishing, or whiffing an unprotected attack or an attack with long animation arent cases of neutral.
Playing Neutral is how you attempt bait or punish opponents mistakes.
Footsies is a neutral method to try to apply pressure without high commitment or risk, trying to play range or frame data/advantage better than opponents to create advantage/disadvantage states.
CC Fishing can immediately end Neutral if a CC lands.

I mean he was only mentioned twice... And blue talked over that entire clip as if gold was admiring his combo, which he wasn't, he was breaking down how bad it was. The entire point was to show the guy does not know how to combo correctly and his reputation is entirely false. Why its in a pvp guide I don't know. I guess you could say its the "don't do this" section of the guide.
@@EmpyreanDreamer Yet again here you are making the assumptions as well. Goldstein was pointing out why hands was messing up that one combo but it wasnt a huge screw up. Also, Hands has a known reputation across the whole game for being one of the best. It isnt an assumption it has been proven time and time again. The difference is that Hands is coming BACK to the game in this clip to fight Shaky for shits and gigs with WAY less gear. Hands was not actively playing thus warrior changes had happened. Shaky claims he has gear but when you watch Hands own video its tuvala timmy. His block gets 1 shot from below the belt, hes having to use his literal SA skills he should be using to combo to try and stagger his block. And I'm assuming you dont play a shield class- if your block gets 1 shot you're in trouble. I believe at one point Hands 3-4 combos shaky to kill him (even if it was the wrong combo thats impressive asf) where as shaky just 2 skills to kill him.
@@soccersoma It wasn't a huge screw up? It made zero sense and he did the same thing a lot. He doesn't understand his skills or how to combo optimally. I can tell you this, I play plenty of other games and when I come back to BDO I don't have any problem with this, even if my class has seen changes it takes 10 minutes to catch up and shuffle things around if needed. Not that much had changed on warrior in this case. The bottom line is combos are the easiest part of pvp. If you don't understand that you might as well not understand anything else either. A zerker doing some mind-bending mouse move tricks means nothing if he doesn't understand how to optimize damage. And the fights don't mean anything with such a gear disparity. The whole thing was a meme and all shaky seemed to want from it was to highlight that he doesn't know what he's doing, which it did. If he was using his damage properly it wouldn't have taken 4 combos. And lets be real the other thing is pretty straight forward. You shouldn't be talking shit when you don't play the game anymore especially when you're so far behind you need multiple combos to kill, he's probably not even up to date with how much musa got changed.
@@EmpyreanDreamer It wasnt a huge screw up since in 1v1's when there is large gear disparity you normally count how a person does by their cc counts. Now considering Shaky was getting ragdolled to the ground by Hands then it makes him look worse. The best part of all of this is if you go to ANY top pvp'er and ask them who wins in an even match, hands or shaky you will hear the same reply repeatedly. HANDS. This isnt even a debate or question, just a fact. Also, I know you've probably never had to shuffle things around because you've not come back with a year off the game during pvp changes like he did. But he didnt take 10 minutes to get his bearings, he literally logged in, went into BA, and then started brawling lmao. Also you're fairly wrong, Shaky didnt want to show a meme, he was evidently hurt and wanted to prove he was better but just ended up looking like a fool.
You're right, if he was doing his damage properly he could have gotten shaky in 3 combos but the fact that he repeatedly got shaky to the ground 3-4 times in a row WITH a combo after (even though the combo may have been scuffed) WHILE at a huge gear disparity, YEEAAHHH idk who embarrassed who here. Also, Shaky was the original shit talker here, Hands literally came out of retirement to shut it up. I always find it weird when people just watch shaky's perspective and never watch the other side. Especially when the whole community views shaky as a snake that literally lies about EVERYTHING. Meanwhile Hands is viewed in very high regards by almost all of the pvp community. Little science experiment- go to the top pvp'er streams on bdo- ask them about shaky's and hands and then ask who would win a equalized 1v1. Your mind will be blown.
@@soccersoma It doesn't matter how often they cc when the opponent is just trolling around lol and it also doesn't matter because the result will always be the same if they don't know how to do damage regardless if the fight is serious or not. The fact is whatever you think of shaky he has plenty of clips of an actual fights against people with vastly more gear which required specialized gear and a disgusting combo to kill and even then it almost wasn't enough. You well never convince me hands is a good player when he didn't even try to do such a combo and instead kept failing a standard warrior combo. And yes I would hope my mind would be blown, warrior gets a free win against musa if you're average or above at the game. Anyway you seem to care a lot more about this crap than I do so I'm gonna call it quits here.

As far as the "run away and catch them" Ive played a lot of roaming pvp games and see (on both sides) bad players will absolutely unga bunga in groups to try to kill someone, and they blow their resources or open themselves for a counterattack.
Keep doing it enough and it's inevitable you clip killing bad players, or at ones that make enough mistakes that they look bad.

Meanwhile you assuming both of the gearsscores, assuming the ninja is evasion and has enough to be relevant, assuming shaky isn't running accuracy offhand, ignoring that musa deletes evasion especially succ (literally 72% hitrate on blooming before you even include accuracy from gear) and ofc that all of these clips are like a year old. It's an old clip, musa has a total of 45% average hit rate, and all the projections from musas flows are 50% hitrate and count as summons. So like, yeah, musa can kill you with low ap. Not very complicated. Offin leebur was an old build I ran **When it was good** but that was me coming off a year IRL break.

Idk what shaky is even famous for. I thought he'd be a decent pvper but back in the early elvia days the man assaulted me with his hash at bloody monastery and I beat him like 50 times in a row until he called backup. So now I'm just puzzled a clueless as to why he is famous.

Not much of a fan but I also fail to see why its justified. He plays into people with big egos for content. So what? I don't see why people think its him being egotistical or even toxic or why its okay to dogpile him. From what I've seen its always two sided and usually the individual in question who starts the shitstorm. Honestly just look at some of the unhinged neptunez moments when they beefed. There is clearly something very wrong with that guy and showing that off in vids is the least he deserved.

What I am trying to say in defense of our class as a group for whom I speak authoratatively, is that the FBI has already checked in on Tamer discord and concluded that there is nothing controversial about it.
Addendum - our s are also totally, completely fine except for the desync issues that need to be fixed, and we sorely need buffs to compete in the new and exciting PvE and PvP content in BDO. Irrefutable and proven scientifically by the biggest of data, the biggest. xo

shakybay is actually being very correct here, using fighting game lingo and fundamentals to explain how to pvp in BDO considering BDO pvp is very similar to fighting games, fundamentally. Oftentime, beating someone fundamentally DOES make it look like you're just beating someone that's just "bad"
fundamentals aren't about making crazy flashy plays or anything, its more about being efficient on a basic level to increase your consistency
when you downplay him by saying ohhh just run away and stub arrow , like ya, it's boring and not super fun or flashy to watch, but it is fundamentally correct to make space in those situations
i don't think his clips are meant to stroke his ego, but to showcase what good fundamentals vs bad fundamentals looks like, hence why a lot of the opponents "look dumb"
a lot of what you say makes you sound like a gear checker rather than a skill checker, and i'm not trying to hate on you, you're my favorite BDO content creator by a large margin
with that being said, shakybay is kinda cringe and stupid with how he explains stuff (especially the dumb shit about hands lol), but a lot of what he's TRYING to say, is real
I think the point is that he didnt have to use fighting terms and that a portion of the viewerbase would not understand. It is just as easy to discuss fishing for cc's safely instead of playing the neutral.
Shaky also has been looked down upon by the rest of the community because of the playstyle blue pointed out. He is not downplaying shaky, this is a well documented strat he employs. This is why it has become well known as the "Purify or the Shaky" to just run and shoot stubs. Playing to only "WIN" is not wrong but it is going to cause the community to not like you/interact with you because it isnt skillful to play the neutral like that. I think if you want proof of what I'm saying then look at his guild history.... not one of them is a top guild even though hes applied to them all... if he was so good at playing the neutral or 1vX'ing then he would have been picked up very quickly.
At least Blue is playing in a siege guild (shotcalling) so the whole idea that hes a gear checker is laughable. Most people we play against are at end game gear scores. I think you're misinterpreting him trying to crack jokes with not knowing what hes talking about. You should go watch his shoutcasting of the official bdo tourney, the guy has a really deep knowledge of each class and how they are supposed to play situations out.

I definitely address that in the video. He has good points which is why I explain that, but there were parts that were unnecessarily included and irrelevant to a guide for pvp in black desert
