"You Can't Understand How TREACHEROUS It Is!" | Missing Jay Slater's Items Found On Human Remains

- A body has been found in the search for missing Briton Jay Slater, who vanished on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife last month.
Charity LBT Global said that, while formal identification has not yet taken place, the remains were found with the 19-year-old’s clothes and possessions near his last known location.
Members of a mountain rescue team from the Spanish Civil Guard discovered the body near the village of Masca on Monday.
The force said Mr Slater, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, could have fallen in the steep and inaccessible area where he was discovered.

I’ve been to Masca. It’s unbelievable how beautiful but extremely dangerous it is. The terrain that leads to the beach is just gorgeous but honestly it’s no joke….you really can’t be alone walking there especially at night without any form of light or experience. Unfortunately this kid was way out of his depth and had no idea what he was up against especially after drinking for 3 days straight. Rest in Peace

so he goes completely the wromg way goes of the path and puts himself in serious danger plus he was dehydrated and probably on a come down from all the drugs he took the night before. ur on the phone to your friend that knew the location so what was so differcult tp send a taxi amd say wait there. he was being chased fpr that 12 k watch no ones mentioning you don't go off the path the complete opposite way unless ur panicking amd being chased none of it adds up!!

@mikaelb7735 but it's well said though is it? alot of you are missing very important facts. he was starving hungry needed scran that's why he didn't stay at his friend's. he also asked for directions and we also knew he was very scared coz he stole a rolex watch. so u would just opt to put yourself in extreme dangerous conditions leave the path whilst starving hungry. nome of it makes sense. every where this story went it got very mucky amd involved some bog time drug dealers. but we are supposed to just think starving hungry and probably on a come down from all the drugs he took the night before ops to go the complete wrong way waved off a 2hr bus wait whilst he could got some scran amd killed some time but no instead he opted to go the wrong way then leave the path!! starving hungry remember. some of you would believe it if the police told u the moon was made of cheese wheres the rolex watch he stole. oh yeah no mention of that now. its a bloody cover up. he upset some powerful people. all what everyone Is saying about the terrain makes it even more unbelievable that he choose to do that rather than go to the village get food and wait to catch the bus. Talking of missing persons. Genette Tate disappeared in August 1978, from Aylesbeare, Devon. She was just 13. Someone in this area knows what happened to her. You WILL get justice one day, girl. RIP Ginny ❤
When I lived in 311 Maryhill Road Glasgow in the late 1970’s a woman aged 36 I think the next close down disappeared completely. Incident van, posters asking, no resolution ever as far as I know.

E did say what everybody is saying. I expected more. And as mentioned, many things in this tragedy does not add up. It all makes no sense.
I’ve never been so frustrated in my life over comments I have been reading! Are people just plain deaf? Or just plain stupid? Are you not hearing comments of how the area has been searched but why didn’t they find him sooner! Are you not hearing what people who are there not saying or are you deaf? They would have searched the easier and less dangerous areas, like they said this area needed specialist climbing equipment to get to this area. That means harnesses, ropes in order the scale down sheer cliffs etc. this area is treacherous! This isn’t a grassy, English hill we are talking about, it is an area that is full of cliffs, unstable slippery ground, vast under growth that could the body could have been lying under and very inaccessible. RIP Jay, I hope your family can now get closure and be left in peace to mourn❤

Ok well if you are so angry about what people are saying and you are so smart, let me put it to you this way. The area and surrounding areas have been searched yes, they have been accompanied by search dogs, search dogs have one goal and that is to find what they are presented with, ie a scent, search dogs have been tested,been tried to be tricked and put off scent with numerous tactics, but low and behold they couldn't be fooled. Dogs can smell and detect minute traces of human scent, they will not let it go. Tacking dogs come in several categories,,, most commonly airborne and trailing dog aswell as point of source dogs. So they way I see it,if they used dogs like we have been told they did. They would and without a doubt picked up a scent,and I know for a fact they would make it known. So regardless of terrain which dogs don't care about, they would alert. Oh and if you want to dismiss what I'm saying, look up detection dogs ability
Also if how you explain this area as so dangerous, the victim should have multiple injuries and extensive damage to his body. Because if not how could he traverse a cliff uninjured and let's say suffer from dehydration, but rescue/search crews say we need specialist equipment to search the area because its impossible otherwise. Just a thought, but let's wait and see

I’ve made terrible choices at 18. First holiday, I lost the key to my apartment.
In my drunken state instead of waiting for friends to return I climbed up the face of the building - fingertips and toes in the gaps in stone wall and got onto the balcony. Any slip and I was dead.
Outrageously bad decision, I still think about how stupid it was to this day.

Thanks to the Spanish police for their continued search and discreetness. Perhaps now the people who criticised them so badly will eat their own words. It’s sad that they have found him dead but they did find him and they worked really hard to do so. It was embarrassing to listen to British media being so arrogant and disrespectful towards the Spanish police. I think a thank you and apology for the disrespect is warranted. The family put up with all of the nonsense and abuse from both the media and public as well.

Got to be the worst reporting by a presenter ever. How can you say the 2 guys in the AIRBNB deserve some kind of an apology. ...Its not know what he was in such a hurry to get away from them. And also why did they take him back there in the first place. Grown ass men taking a 19 year old back for a party that was just the 2 of them going to bed. They are involved in some way as they took him to the Airbnb and one of them is a known drug dealer. So no I wouldn't say it's closure just yet. It's only the beginning for those 2 I think. If jays phone was found it might tell more secrets about what happened.

Over a week later, and it still makes absolutely no sense why this kid would travel through "treacherous" terrain. I would definitely want to see the exact spot he was found, and a capture of the entire area showing how it was even possible. Luckily, it wasn't my son. Very Lucky!
Strange how they found someone when there was a lot of pressure but none of the other dozen or so people who have gone missing there this year.

They’ve searched that area many times and only now they’ve found his body in the exact same area they’ve searched endless times, if his body was there they would have found him ages ago and the smell of decomposition would have been strong in that area, something smells off excuse the pun!

@hughjanus8908 one thing I've noticed from working with search and rescue is that you can overlook. I've come across things under our nose and it only becomes obvious after it's been found. Even walked across a field after it was thoroughly! searched and found a clue which was missed.
