Use distilled water to protect the unit and pour your water in FIRST to prevent any bubbles. I have always filled my old Swiffer with my own solution and was hoping I could to do the same with the new Power model. Nice, helpful video! Thanks!
Praise Jesus for this comment! I couldn't get that lid off for the life of me but thanks to this tip after trying it I was able to remove the lid like buttah! Thaaaaaaank youuuuu!
Ha! I thought it was just me. I went outside and put it against the side of a hard flat elevated surface lol and used my body weight to pop it off. Next time I know better😂
Thank you for posting! This is much easier than refilling the old swiffer wet jet bottles. Can't believe it's this easy actually. I was expecting a process involving boiling water, 2 screwdrivers and a few f bombs. The math on Murphy's if you're super curious like me: 750mL is around .2 gallons so *technically* you want a fifth of a quarter cup (should be in the neighborhood of 2.5tsp, or just shy of a tbsp). But that's hardly any and doubling that is approved on the Murphys bottle for deep cleaning floors. More than an eighth of a cup may leave residue 🤷🏻♀️ Not sure but most likely harmless. I normally use lysol+water or blue Mr clean+water+alcohol (don't add alcohol with just any cleaner) on LVP or tile floors with no issues but now that I have 1920s wood floors I'm all Murphys.
Thank you. This helps a lot. My older swiffer quit on me and I still have about 4 old full bottles left. I wanted to buy this new one but at the same time didn't want to lose all that money I spend on the old bottles. This will help. Great 👍 thanks for a great video.
My bottle won’t click in. It will spray but also leaks a little around top. I soaked in warm water and also just twisted the top off without warm. Both will not click in
Yes! Thank you also for posting this! I was curious about the rubber portion on the bottle that gets punctured, where the solution comes out of. About how many times can you refill a bottle before that rubber stats to fail? Thanks!
It’s ghetto but on the wet jet I make sure the silicone bit is dry and stick a square of scotch tape over it. It had previously started leaking and this stopped it completely. I just replace the tape when I fill it.
I mean you could probably get away a few refills and if you didn’t want to start over with a new bottle you can use rtv silicone gasket maker. It’s literally what it I made for and it will make a self healing hole like you see on the rubber stoppers on hypodermic injection bottles. You’ll get quite a few piercings and it’ll cost you about $4 to get enough rtv to make 2,000 of those seals. Just mke sure you store the open rtv silicone properly so it doesn’t dry out Ps. I just bought one of these from Costco and haven’t opened it yet so I didn’t look at the seal yet, but I do know for a fact that rtv gasket maker will make a self sealing port. Just remember if the rubber bit is already silicone then silicone won’t stick to silicone and your seal will fail. If that’s the case you need to remove the seal and totally replace it with rtv. But it might not be silicone so I try before I went that far
Thank you so much for the video because when I saw that it cost $10, and that in just one turn my husband spent half of the jar, I couldn't believe it.
The money you save on buying their solution will pay for another Power Swiffer unit if the warranty voids. I also agree with Murphys oil soap. Been using it for years...for everything. I also add the water first. Loved the user's comment about using distilled water.
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! Much more economical and eoc friendly. I'm not a fan of Murphy, but, I love Spic-n-Span and Lysol. My beautifully clean floors thank you.
Thanks for this video! I was in a bind, having just moved to a new place and really needed a hack on the power mop refill before the roommates got home. 😂 You are awesome 👏
Just found out today that I could use a reusable mop pad from a mop that’s not even Swiffer on my Swiffer power mop due to the little Velcro pads. I’m stoked because we don’t have to keep buying the disposable pads anymore
I was thinking of getting a second bottle and just putting plain water in it to flush the lines after each use of the diy solution and to remove the solution bottle when it’s not being used.
He used wood cleaner on tile floor. I've never done this, so before being critical about it, i need to ask if this works with the right water to oil mixture?
Does anyone have any regrets using the power mop vs the older swiffer? I was able to refill the older swiffer liquids easily. Had one bottle for tile and one for wood. Pads on the older swiffer are cheaper and did the job just fine. Does the power mop pads clean that much better to make it worth it?
same here!!!! it won't click into place and it's perfectly identical to the other bottle? going nuts! its not like it has a chip or something to know its being refilled!
If you twist the cap to tight it won’t reclick ! Try untwisting it one turn and clicking it if it’s to tight it doesn’t leave room for the side clips to squeeze in and lock it in place
Thank you! The smell of their product is so overpowering and gives me a headache. Not to mention it would probably kill my parrots! We have to use natural solutions without perfumes for them.
my husband suggested i use a nail clipper to trim those nubs... i dont know if they are necessary to keep it shuit- i wonder if just filing them down a bit would make it easwier (that thing is REALLY hard to open!) but soaking it in hot water makes it much easirde, no trimming needed... i just have my husband oen it for me lol it makes me feel like a weaking, but whatever ;)
Great video. I was debating whether to get this or not. One of my concerns was the continuous purchasing of cleaning solution from Swiffer. I also think there are reusable pads I can buy. I don't think I have any rechargeable AA batteries but that should be okay.
Question.... Do you have to rinse your MOS solution? Suggestion??? Making Solution...To avoid bubbles....Why couldn't you put water to fill level, then pour out 1/5 cup of water and then replace with 1/5 cup Murphy's oil soap (or what ever you choose) then cap and invert softly a few times to mix ? Maybe avoid bubbles as much as possible.
Thank you !!!!!! I can’t afford to buy these bottles all the time ! So much easier to make your own!! 2 dogs and horse no way I’m buying these daily lol
This was one issue I had with this product. You have to buy their solution and change it so often. This has saved me. Thanks!!

Nice, helpful video! Thanks!
Being able to screw off the top changes everything. Thank you!!
It is very hard to get lid off , however if you run it under hot water for about a minute it comes right off!❤❤❤
Thank you!! I could not get the lid off and your hack made it pop right off for me!!
Thank goodness for your comment becaise I would not have been able to get that lid off otherwise !!!

I have a mixture of tile and wood floors. What is most effective and cleaning tile without leaving spots? Thanks so much!
Put the water in first, and you won't have bubbles. Thanks for making this video!!!
Oh wow I never knew this, I'm so glad I found this comment. Thank you so much!

Thanks! DIY refills are super helpful I find
Thanks so much! I manage Airbnbs and go thru floor cleaners like crazy! Being able to make my own solution will save a lot of $$$$
I would use purified water, preferably RO water. Otherwise the tap water will likely cause scale buildup inside swiffer sprayer.
Plausible, though I wonder how many times you’d have to refill it before you’ve saved more than the cost of a new power mop
thank you sooooo much! My sister can't be around the smell of the original
yeah, we cant stand the smell of swiffer and febreeze as well. here lol.
My bottle won’t click in. It will spray but also leaks a little around top. I soaked in warm water and also just twisted the top off without warm. Both will not click in
Mine also didnt click in
Try loosening the cap 1/2 turn. If it’s too tight it won’t click back in

You forgot the part where you squeezed the bottle while turning to get the top off. Game changer.
Thank you! I really like the mop but HATE the smell.
agreed!!!
Gives me a headache!!
This should’ve been a refillable bottle in the first place!!! Why do the Swiffer people hate the environment so much????
Unfortunately they love money more 😢
They don't hate it, they don't care
Thank you soooooo much for this. Having to buy refills made me hesitant to buy the mop. Now, im glad that I did.😊
Glad I could help!
I used a butter knife to prop it along and twist. Works like a charm
Thank you so much for the video because when I saw that it cost $10, and that in just one turn my husband spent half of the jar, I couldn't believe it.
Great vid! Do you have to rinse mopped floors after using your Murphy’s oil soap solution?
Good question!!
The money you save on buying their solution will pay for another Power Swiffer unit if the warranty voids.

Thanks saves me money. Nowadays everything helps.
Overtime this will brake your mop. It slowly leaks and jams the sprayers then they eventually won’t spray anymore.
Use distilled water, tap water can be too hard and that's why it clogs
What happens when the bottle refuses to click back in after it's refilled ? 😡
This just happened to me too 🙄 infuriating
Bruh yall have the same issue!!!!!! I don't know what to do!!!! 😢
Try loosening the cap 1/2 turn. Fixed mine!

Did your solution foul the spray jets?? That's the biggest concern with using a DIY solution. Thanks for the video.
I was thinking of getting a second bottle and just putting plain water in it to flush the lines after each use of the diy solution and to remove the solution bottle when it’s not being used.
Just mix a gallon and fill the bottle
What I would like to know is, can one use the pads for this machine on the original swiffer battery mop?
He used wood cleaner on tile floor. I've never done this, so before being critical about it, i need to ask if this works with the right water to oil mixture?
Does anyone have any regrets using the power mop vs the older swiffer? I was able to refill the older swiffer liquids easily. Had one bottle for tile and one for wood. My wet jet bottles were Hella hard to open., I had to drill a hole in the top to refill it
Love the mop but all sudden it won’t spray
Please help no matter what I do mine won’t click and it is brand new
same here!!!! it won't click into place and it's perfectly identical to the other bottle? going nuts! its not like it has a chip or something to know its being refilled!
Run it under hot water before you take off for about i minute❤❤❤
I’m having trouble too..won’t click back in. Was it manufactured to know some type of seal broken???
If you twist the cap to tight it won’t reclick ! Try untwisting it one turn and clicking it if it’s to tight it doesn’t leave room for the side clips to squeeze in and lock it in place
Anyone else figured this out? I did what he did but it won't click back in.
Thank you so much! Can I clip reusable towels instead of the disposable Swifer ones? If so, any suggestions?
Amazon sells them. They work. I usually soak in water before using them. They clean in the wash.
Just saved me money Thanks
Hmmm mine won’t turn left. Only right when it gets stuck
Run it under hot water for a minute comes right off❤❤❤
Thanks I bought 5 bottles of wet jet and couldn't figure out why they made it not to have a refill way, especially since on plastic use❤
Thank you! The smell of their product is so overpowering and gives me a headache. Not to mention it would probably kill my parrots! We have to use natural solutions without perfumes for them.
Exactly what I plan to do after I use all of the product, I will refill it on my own
Thank you. Now I can get rid of that nasty smelling solution. It filled my house for hours and gave me an asthma attack.
What Happens if I were to trim the nubs in the inside of the cap. Would its securely close still while allowing me to easily open it?
my husband suggested i use a nail clipper to trim those nubs... i dont know if they are necessary to keep it shuit- i wonder if just filing them down a bit would make it easwier (that thing is REALLY hard to open!) but soaking it in hot water makes it much easirde, no trimming needed... i just have my husband
oen it for me lol it makes me feel like a weaking, but whatever ;)
I did this and my bottle leaks now.
Mine was not sitting in place. I tried really hard to insert the refill bottle back. But it could not lock in. Anyone faced same issue?

Good because the smell of the swifter cleaning solution makes me gag.
Great video. I was debating whether to get this or not. One of my concerns was the continuous purchasing of cleaning solution from Swiffer. I also think there are reusable pads I can buy. I don't think I have any rechargeable AA batteries but that should be okay.
Amazon sells the reusable pads. They work.
Can't get the top off.
Thanks for this video! It answered my question and you showed all the steps clearly. :)
Glad it was clear

Wont stay clicked in just pops back out

Thank you! Very good tutorial, it worked great!
Thanks a lot for this video. It really helped me today 🎉

Has anyone tried using Swiffer Wet Jet solution, in their Swiffer Power Mop? As in pouring the Wet Jet solution into the empty power mop bottle
