There's really no need to buy +9 agony resistance on the trading post! You'll get plenty of +1 just by playing and you can use those with a vendor in the fractal lobby to buy +9 (or whatever tier you want). You'll save about 1 gold for every +9 infusion compared to the trading post. That's also how you make a little gold off them later, when you've got all you infusion slots filled up - buy higher tier infusions from the vendor and sell them on the trading post.
Just to add to this wonderful video reply: Wiki 'Agony Infusion' and right at the top you'll see a link titled 'Agony Resistance # Maximizing resistance.' This shows you the cheapest way to get max agony resistance. If you put +9's into every slot you'll go over the cap and it'll be wasted.

Thanks for the cool video, Laranity. I've been at this game on and off for a long time and still have never done fractals. I'm going to start doing them very soon and this is a big help to know what I can expect. My big question is why there is agony in these. This mechanic just seems more like an annoying pain in the ass than it being "challenging".
Lets GO! Just started playing GW2 3 days ago. I'm still on free account so fractals are accessible and enjoyable for me. Thief is kinda hard to play pve tho :D
Thief was my first class and has been my main ever since! Thief can seem difficult, due to the single-target damage many of it's skills and weapons focus on, but it does have access to some good cleave options that really help in PvE. Also never underestimate the Acrobatics and Trickery trait lines, it adds a lot of survivability to Thief if you're struggling (and is good for offensive and/or support options on some builds too) Dagger/dagger is nice for condition (damage over time) based builds (though you need to buy Vipers gear off the TP for it to excel with it in f2p, which can be expensive) especially due to some traits you can slot that ramp up your condition damage a lot. Staff is a a great power based cleave weapon, but unfortunately that's locked behind an expansion since it's a weapon for thief that needs special "training" to use (originally tied to the Daredevil Elite Specialization from Heart of Thorns, though you can also get that weapon training from the Weaponmaster in the newest expansion). There might be other options but honestly I love Staff too much to consider the others (I use it on every class i can lol)
@@Vidiri thank you for recommendations! I'll buy at least HoT and PoF expansions. First I wanted to wait for sales but I think I cant wait that long to get my hands on all the things locked behind expansions :D

wanted to say now finally doing fractals! using your vids did 1,2,3 and many more dailies being carried by probably some vets! these vids made me feel less dumb :D
As someone with Fractal God who does CMs, T4s, and Recs daily, you're severely underselling the value of Recs. The Daily reward chests for Recs don't just give potions for T4s, they also give Fractal Encryptions, where the bulk of Fractal gold is made. With all 4 Fractal titles, Recs give just as many Encryptions as T4s at 30. They'r every much worth doing.
Oh, don't get me wrong- I said in the video that the rewards from Recs are still pretty alright! I commend you for doing those too every day 😛 But without titles, it's about a third of the profits of T4 dailies- so if you're skipping anything, skipping Recs is your best move.
@@LaranityRespectfully, you mention multiple times in the video that you skip Recs. I don't think that kind of attitude is something you should convey to new players who are trying to get into the game mode. I know this is a "gold making" video, but there are a ton of reasons to do Recs, even if the rewards "aren't as good." For starters, the individual fractals themselves might only give 1/3 of the rewards, but the daily Recs chests give encryptions too, and bring the gold value up to 2/3 of T4s. Just looking at today's fractals; with no titles, T4s give 24 encryptions and Recs gives 18. That's 42 encryptions total, and with the 12 free keys you get from T4 rewards and the 30 you can buy, you can open all of them every day. Second is fractal potions. Yes, you mentioned that you can just buy them, but why would you when you can just do Recs and get them for free. People do expect you to have those potions by the time you get to T3s. If you're doing T4s and you don't already have the Omnipot, you should be doing Recs first for the potions. Lastly, and you don't mention these at all, are Fractal Research Pages. These are required for the Legendary Ad Infinitum collection, and outside of CMs, Recs chests are the only place to get them. I know you didn't mention the Legendary, but it's something that players will encounter, so I think it's worth mentioning. Pages are probably the single most important reason why new players do Recs, because they're working on that Legendary collection. I want to reiterate, I know this is a gold making video, but it's missing just a bit of information on Recs that I think was worth mentioning. Recs are very much worth doing, no matter if you're new or if you're doing CMs and T4s every day. Even if they bring down your gold/hour, you're still going to end up with more gold overall if you do them rather than if you skip them. This comes from a place of constructive criticism, because otherwise the video is great.
I know this is not consistent with the discussion but I approached GW2 in the past having a lvl 35 necro and now I started again as engeneer and I was considering buying path of fire. The real question that I'd love to be answered is if it is still worth to buy just the path of fire dlc which includes the 1st dlc and maybe wait a bit before buying the others or if it's useless to buy only the patch of fire dlc without the others? Because i don't want to be forced to pay 100$ worth of dlc and i don't want either to waste 30$. Ty
In my opinion, if you're enjoying the game, then the smart thing would be to pick up the entire Elder Dragon Saga at once and save money. I wouldn't jump straight to PoF though, even though it has the mounts, since you'll enjoy the story a lot more by playing it all in order - so Personal Story, Season 1, Season 2, Heart of Thorns, Season 3, Path of Fire, Season 4, Icebrood Saga (Season 5), End of Dragons (and then buy and play Secrets of the Obscure to get caught up to us!). There are hundreds of hours of content there if you want to play through everything at least once, so I can guarantee whatever way you buy, you'll be getting your money's worth; it took me almost a thousand hours to do all the content in the Elder Dragon Saga, and I've still got thousands of achievements left to complete.
First of all, thank you for the video! It has been super helpful. While watching the video, a question arose (it's possible you mentioned it at some point in the video but with so much information, I might have missed it XD). Are the difficulty tiers of fractals simply the same fractal but more difficult? or do they add any new mechanics?
She wasn't kidding when she said that fractals make you a lot of gold. Started a week ago and got a lucky gear drop that was worth 80g Went full O_O when I saw the trade price.
Thank you SO much for this video. I'm literally just getting started with Fractals. I've done, exactly, 3 of them so far. Like, I thought you needed Agony Resistance right from the start. lol. The first one I did was the hammer one. Cliffside. And I thought that Agony damage was killing us, because people were holding the hammer too long and dying. I was SO confused. I'm just a total noob at all of this, zero clue. But, now, I do have a clue! Thanks to you.
I've been playing since day one and I've done like 10 fractals. It was with an IRL friend and his guild, but now that they've stopped playing, I'm back at playing full solo. I'm not a "play with randoms" player (excepted for events), had too many bad experiences in other games. Still, it's an epic video you've done here, well done, and very helpful I'm sure.
Is it worth it to open the chests in every tier? I lost like 4 gold opening 20 of them with the deeply discounted ones on the first tier. Are the tiers change tthe content of the chests?
What do you mean fun it is torture for me especially when that dps doesnt know how to dodge stuff or not to stand in DOT fields and then they'll end up complaining where's the heals.
i hate fractals so i do eod meta everyday (which in stats give more than t4 daily+recs) plus doing eod meta not only give u gold but also gives u material progression for crafting gen 3

I know this is a "gold making" video, but there are a ton of reasons to do Recs, even if the rewards "aren't as good."
For starters, the individual fractals themselves might only give 1/3 of the rewards, but the daily Recs chests give encryptions too, and bring the gold value up to 2/3 of T4s.
13:14 charging batteries to power a fan?? didnt't know there is more to this fight than cc and dmg...
I did fractals only once in my entire gw2 life 😂
i was kicked from the group😂
Ty. This video reminded me why I hate fractals and refuse to do them.
Hey Lara, please apply your skills to strike/raid CM guides :) Ty!!
I just do t2. It's like t1 with an effect but no additional mechanics. It gives little less g than t3 but 10x easier.
I want to see a cm video!
31:50 the red balls hurt a little, the red aoes hurt a lot
She wasn't kidding when she said that fractals make you a lot of gold. Started a week ago and got a lucky gear drop that was worth 80g
Went full O_O when I saw the trade price.
My brain is leaking out of my ears now. Talk about overload, but it was perfect. Kill mobs, run, jump, get crystals and press F. Got it!
Ty for this Video.
Nice Guide
Omg today i learned how to target Amala. ❤
I've been playing T4 dailies and recs for over a year but I never got an ANet dev in my team.
I have a ranger build. I want to play the core Power Ranger.
Which of the Elite Specializations shall I use.
Now that you did the best Fractals guide on youtube, do you think that one day you'll do the same kind of guide for Raids ? :D
leet thumbnail skillz 😊
Thank you SO much for this video. I'm literally just getting started with Fractals. I've done, exactly, 3 of them so far.
Like, I thought you needed Agony Resistance right from the start. lol.
The first one I did was the hammer one. Cliffside. And I thought that Agony damage was killing us, because people were holding the hammer too long and dying. I was SO confused. I'm just a total noob at all of this, zero clue.
But, now, I do have a clue! Thanks to you.
Top tier content
I really fell handless doing cm, until now I think I just have done one CM, even doing fractals since 10 years ago.
Lol, if ur good with ur champion and know every fractal mechanics its really ez. Silent surf t4 takes ages tho. Dont be shy, just lfg and ur gucci
Woah! Thank you
thanks for this, can you make a guide for all the fractal CMs?
I sight audibly everytime deepstone is daily lol. that frac has no right to be so long!! :D
I dropped a like just when u say it “idk why i did this but yeah, i explained all 22 fractals”
Also… WHERE IS MY GOLD LARANITY??
Laranity Tech promised an electric car by the end of the year.. Where's my electric car Laranity!! 😂😂
Wow 😂 I'm so jealous you can do those circle orb things in night mare without downing like me 😂
Wow never knew there was a hidden fractal, always thought there were only 100 of them. How do I join this Fractal 101 ???
Is it worth it to open the chests in every tier? I lost like 4 gold opening 20 of them with the deeply discounted ones on the first tier. Are the tiers change tthe content of the chests?
If they rework it they will make it much longer, more annoying like the other ones the reworked (Aquatic ruins, for example)
You should know that I have a fully charged diaphanous diffraction randomizer.

I love Fractal
What do you mean fun it is torture for me especially when that dps doesnt know how to dodge stuff or not to stand in DOT fields and then they'll end up complaining where's the heals.
Can you make a WVW Guide??
i hate fractals so i do eod meta everyday (which in stats give more than t4 daily+recs) plus doing eod meta not only give u gold but also gives u material progression for crafting gen 3
Fun Fact: Kanaxai's teeth stretch when he talks.
o-o
what a fancy thumbnail though needs more emojii
