Have you tried WellO2 breathing aid? It is a Finnish invention to alleviate breathing related symptoms and now that I think about it, it would probably be a good vocal cords maintenance aid for singers too. It "creates a resistance for breathing and at the same time produces warm steam in the airways." I am not a marketer, but have seen the benefits in the family so I can really recommend it.

This video literally helped me not to lose my voice. Really. Because i was always forgetting about breath support and damage my vocal chords later on i was feeling hurt in my throat. That pulse technique helped me relief my throat. I place my hand on my stomach when singing and feel every word i sing in my diaphragm. When in high notes i realise it naturally clinches a little bit, changing the path of the breath towards my neck and all i have to do is open my mouth and sing freely. Because of the old habits, i sometimes try to increase my sound by increasing the voice flow -like yelling- but it again hurts my voice. When your diaphragm moderates your voice flow itself, your throat really does not hurt at all, it is almost like you do not feel your throat at all. And I want to add something from me, if teacher does not mind. When in high notes, if you think you are speaking lightly, like singing to a baby to sleep, it helps greatly remove the strain. Teacher will correct me if i am wrong.. Thank you deeply for the tips, hope to sign for your lessons soon.

I understand the diaphragm breathing, but when I focus on the singing I forget to use it after the first couple of notes, what should I do? By the way, I love the way you explain! Very easy to understand :)
Hi LonelyHowl, This used to happen to me all the time when I first started working my breathing technique. It always feels easier to breathe properly in the exercises and then when you have to apply the technique to the songs there is so much other stuff to focus on. What has helped me is two things: 1) sing in front of the mirror with a hand on your stomach so that you can see and feel the diaphragm move during the whole song. 2) Print out the lyrics to your song and add breath marks (markings where you want to breathe in between phrases). As you sing, look at the lyrics and use the markings to remind you to breathe properly at the right time. I hope that helps. Otherwise please don't hesitate to ask again. I love to geek out on this stuff ;-)
..Nice tips! Problem here is that when I sing I 98.99% of the time inhale dramatically, And thats heavily noticeable in many songs with just a couple of seconds of breath-time, Can you help me fix that please?
When you say diaphragmatic pulse, it is a bit confusing because your diaphragm is technically an involuntary muscle. I really like the idea of focusing on the abdominal wall to help engage the diaphragm, but since I cannot specifically control that muscle alone, I think it is important to talk about both the rectus abdominus and the intercostal muscles, as they mainly control the proper breathing apparatus.
I am alone in the office now and i started singing along with the exercise. Not sure if anyone around is hearing me sing! lol. Nice exercise there Ronja. Thanks for sharing..
Hello. Great video! I’m still having a hard time doing the diaphragm pulse. Is there any way you could explain this another way for those of us without too much sensation in the belly yet? I’m having a hard time feeling the difference when the pulse is coming from my throat, or chest, or stomach.
@@ikonographicsGood morning/afternoon/evening, from what I understood, diaphragm pulse has similarities when you're hiccuping. The difference is you have to release a burst of air. In other words, exhale quickly but keep your lungs filled with air enough to reach more notes and to sing more diaphragm support. Remember don't breath out a lot of air or you'll lose your breath. Have a good posture and your chest should be kept expand. Coming from a Filipino 14 years old.
I've seen lots of breathe support instructions before. What I do is inhale, then let the air stay in my diaphragm (with this, I mean keeping the diaphragm inflated) and then just passing the what I call "weight" from the throat to the diaphragm and letting the "weight" stay there until I'm done with a line. The thing is, I'm just a professional bathroom singer lol. Am I doing the right thing? Thanks.
Hi Justin, Thank for your question. Being a professional bathroom singer is awesome! If I'm understanding you correctly, you are focusing the "weight" on your diaphragmatic support instead of your throat? If so, then that is correct :) You might also want to focus on exhaling a steady stream of air so that you continue supporting your voice throughout your phrases. I've made a video about it here: th-cam.com/video/qaJHuD-1qyE/w-d-xo.html Let me know how it goes.

I wonder, is it possible to learn to change the way you breathe automatically from the typical way we do it these days to the more deep way singers need to do while singing? And is it worth doing? Is it healthier to breathe this way by default overall than to breathe "normally"? I ask this because I remember reading or hearing something somewhere about how babies and even toddlers by default breathe with their stomach, but for some reason as we grow into adolescence and puberty we get "lazier" about breathing. I wonder why this is. Babies may be the best singers if they could be taught haha
Hi CHRISTI XX, Great question! The diaphragm pulse is meant for you to feel the connection between your breath support and your voice. You "pulse" by varying the amount of air that you exhale so that you can feel the the difference in the support. When exhaling, make sure to keep the rib cage open so that your diaphragm is free to release it's tension (this is what happens when you exhale). I don’t know how to use it to support. My voice range is also very confusing. I am male. I can drag a chest to F#4. Occasionally a G4. But the upper extremities of that placement are very tense. I feel as though some parts of my voice are unexplored. I can do head voice up to a G5. Occasionally an A5. But also very weak, unsupported and unreliable tone. I cannot “mix my voice”. Some people say my range is either tenor or alto because of using the head voice to mimick certain female singers. But I think it’s more baritone. As the speaking voice is relatively low. Hi Kamal Bensra, You are so welcome and great question. I do not recommend that you tighten your stomach muscles. @@singgeek i don't understand , when we hit high note ,we add a diaphragm pulse .It means we have to push the stomach out more when we have already expanded , isn't it ?
Here is something that I am not totally clear on. I understand the expansion of the cavities during inhale. During exhale (singing), is the sign that it is supported that it stays expanded, or should it be collapsing? Thanks.
Hi, I have this issue where I can support from my diaphragm but then my throat tenses as well? the notes sound full but I can feel throat tension, but I also have acid reflux so could that be the reason my throat feels tense? I ask music teachers when I demonstrate and they say I use breath support but my throat still hurts idk
ashish gupta For high notes, you actually need even more breath support! You need to use the same, if not more, air when singing softer. The mistake that most people make when singing soft is cutting off all of their air, which causes their sound to become, in lack of a better term, “wimpy”, because it is unsupported. Just make sure your breath support is stable. Make sure you can take that deep wide breath and control all of that air. In all reality, singing softer doesn’t require less air. It requires you to control your air differently. Good luck!
Hi! i just want to ask, as I exhale and start to sing phrases, should my belly and ribs go in gradually or keep them as they were when i inhaled? Thank you!
suleman haroon Do not forcefully push your stomach in our out. That will happen naturally. When you inhale, your stomach will go out on its own. If you try to force your body to do things, you’ll get tense, and it’s not good to sing with tension. Just let your body relax. Relax, and breathe. And when you exhale, don’t force the air out of you. Gently ease it out. Good luck!
suleman haroon When you take a breath, you want it to be deep and wide. Your stomach should expand both out and horizontally. Put your hands on the middle and the side of your belly. Both of your hands should move outwards. As you sing, you want your core to be involved. You’re going to control and push that air out evenly as you sing. Notice how I said “evenly”; don’t push it all out at once! Best of luck!
suleman haroon Hello! What i do is imagine myself taking a nice, wide breath. Yes, your stomach should stick out, but to take the deepest breath possible, think deep and wide. At least, that’s what works for me. Good luck!
hi ronja when singing the volume of my voice is not stable, after hearing my self it seems I approach and then get away from the microfone. May it be cause by bad support? Thanks sorry for my bad english
I got two questions 1.When i try to inhale i start to yawn Why does that happen also how can i fix it ? 2. Why dose my body feel stiff when i breath in ?
n.j jaafreh Okay, so who ever said drink more water was incorrect. While drinking water is very good for you (singers always need to be hydrated!) it won’t solve any of these problems. 1. You’re yawning because you’re not breathing deep enough. We yawn when we haven’t gotten enough air. It’s your body’s way to get it a whole bunch of oxygen at one, and then release carbon dioxide from your blood stream. So work on taking a nice, deep breath. Then all of that should stop. 2. Your body is stiff because you’re tightening up your muscles. In order to do this right, you have to relax them. Tension is a singer’s enemy. You can’t sing when you’re tense. Most singers carry tension in their necks, shoulders, jaws, and abdomens. To eliminate this tension, try stretching before you sing. It works wonders! Best of luck!!!
My question is that did we have to hold breath while singing or we have to sing after exhalation (sorry for my English I'm not native eng speaker,I will satisfied if u and answer me,(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

When exhaling it is helpful to keep the ribcage expanded to allow the diaphragm to release your air with control. I've made two other videos about breathing technique which you might find helpful.

Exhalation technique: th-cam.com/video/e-9LPpsBidE/w-d-xo.html
Hope it helps :)
Singgeek thank you so much. I’ll watch the videos 🙏😊
@@singgeek Thank you so much for your reply! Will heed your advice. Have a great day!
@@singgeek i don't understand , when we hit high note ,we add a diaphragm pulse .It means we have to push the stomach out more when we have already expanded , isn't it ?
hi I have a song on youtube call a change I wont to know if I am singing from my diaphragm and is my breathing ok
Loved your channel....keep doing
Here is something that I am not totally clear on. I understand the expansion of the cavities during inhale. During exhale (singing), is the sign that it is supported that it stays expanded, or should it be collapsing? Thanks.
It helps a lot! Thanks :)
Hey Ronia, how are you creating those fluctuations in sound when letting out your Ahhhhh’s, where should my mind muscle connection focus be? Thanks :)
I can sing with my diaphragm for lower notes but when I reach higher notes I tend to use my throat and can’t use my diaphragm anymre
Thank you 🙏🏾
Hi, I have this issue where I can support from my diaphragm but then my throat tenses as well? the notes sound full but I can feel throat tension, but I also have acid reflux so could that be the reason my throat feels tense? I ask music teachers when I demonstrate and they say I use breath support but my throat still hurts idk
I love Ur Voice, Tricks & U Also!
What should be the position of the abdomen while singing?
This means the abdomen should be forward or backward¿
When we're singing , we have to keep our stomachs up?
Should be relaxed.
Hi, I have a question, should I stay my stomach expanded? Or should I decrease it slowly
I love u Your are good teacher
how to use support in "low volume high notes" in other cases like high volume high notes etc. I am able to use it.
ashish gupta For high notes, you actually need even more breath support!
Good luck!
@@aleessa thanks
I have trouble with breathing in the diaphragm.Everyrime I breathe deep,I feel dizzy or lighthead.Am I breathing wrong or this is just how it works?
How to support head and mixed voice with the diaphragm?
Thanku mam...love from India 🇮🇳♥️
Hi! i just want to ask, as I exhale and start to sing phrases, should my belly and ribs go in gradually or keep them as they were when i inhaled? Thank you!
I'd love to know too
Me too Id like to know?
Thank you so much
I didn't understand how to do the diaphram pulsea
Did you figure it out? If so, how??? Pls
I want to sing, and make you listen to my voice, what can i do. I need you to be my vocal coach
I understand thanks but tell me how inhale and sing by pushing belly backward or outwar? plz clear me i m very thank full to you
suleman haroon Do not forcefully push your stomach in our out.
Good luck!
@@aleessa Or when we say aa that time also i live stomach relax
i dont get the part where you did "pah pahh" felt like you didnt inhale for a very long time or almost not at all?
Thanks 🙂👍
Oh thanks so much. Finally i got it
So when you are "supporting"" is it slowing down the exhale whilst singing??
Thanks a lot! 👍🏻❤️
tenx but my vision was professional singers but my birthing was not enough what can i do ithink my english was not enogh so what is your advise
When my stomach is big do I hold the stomach big or nah?
Please tell us in video how to inhale and what we do after inhale with belly when we sing
suleman haroon When you take a breath, you want it to be deep and wide.
Should i breath nose or mouth?
Yes! Another one!
Cant get the 2nd ah. I deel it in my throat😕
Well, I just found out I’ve been singing with my diaphragm engaged. Hell yeah
I LOVE YOU THANKYOU SO MUCH 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
How can I do the pulse?
It's hard for me to tell if I'm actually using my diaphragm for the pulse or if I'm using my abs :\
M when sing we push the belly backward or outward??
suleman haroon Hello! What i do is imagine myself taking a nice, wide breath. Yes, your stomach should stick out, but to take the deepest breath possible, think deep and wide. At least, that’s what works for me.
Good luck!
@@aleessa mam when we say aa we push belly backward??
suleman haroon You want to use your core muscles. So in a way, yes, that’s what you will do.
amazing!!!
I can’t use my diaphragm to make that pulse :( do you think I do something wrong?
I don’t know how to breath wile singing this don’t help me bc I hold my breath wile singing because I can’t breath
hi ronja when singing the volume of my voice is not stable, after hearing my self it seems I approach and then get away from the microfone. May it be cause by bad support? Thanks sorry for my bad english
Now I finally get it!
I got two questions
1.When i try to inhale i start to yawn
Why does that happen also how can i fix it ?
2. Why dose my body feel stiff when i breath in ?
n.j jaafreh to stop the yawn you have to drink more water
@@francescococorocchio4086 thanks
n.j jaafreh ;D
n.j jaafreh Okay, so who ever said drink more water was incorrect.
Are you pushing your diaphragm out each time with each ah ah? Or pushing it in?
My question is that did we have to hold breath while singing or we have to sing after exhalation (sorry for my English I'm not native eng speaker,I will satisfied if u and answer me,(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
How does it feel. Does it feel like it coming from the diaphragm so down wards motion in the breath. Or does it feel difference. Cause I feel some downwards motion. Idk and I have trouble with throat singing at times
Thanks mam ❤️
