First Glance at ATN X-Sight 5 3-15 LRF Test footage

- This is a short video of the 3 different recording qualities offered on the new Gen5 X-Sight. You will notice difficulties with no audio recording and all around poor quality when zooming in. The only one with decent zoom capability is the 30FPS setting which provides the best quality but is the worst for shooting slow motion clips in post production.
Were you recording in 4K? If so, do you have the same focus/quality issues in 1080 as well?
I tried recording in all resolution setting and none were good. They all are hard to find a good focus. Ultimately I have decided to send them both back to ATN.

@@JavisBoomTech I wish you better luck. ATN tried to convince me I got a bad unit, but getting 2 units both with the same issues sounds less like a bad unit and more like a bad product. Also one of mine would always freeze and require a hard reboot if I was recording and tried to use the LRF at the same time.
@@petespesting I’ll let you know how it goes with mine. Not a lot of reviews/videos on the X-Sight 5 so hard to tell if issues are widespread. I don’t see any firmware updates on their site for the new 5 either

Yup, if you listen closely on the 60fps setting you can hear me talking very faintly. It sounds like I'm 15 feet away from the scope, even though am actually on the scope talking. I have started the return process on both scopes for now. Also one of the scopes they sent me would freeze of I was recording and tried range finding during recording.
Was there a problem with the focus as well? I was going to buy one but the more I see about the Gen 5, the less I like it.
It seems to be a problem with the processor not being good enough to keep up with the 4k quality. As the frame rate increases, the quality goes downhill quickly.
@@petespesting Thanks for the info. I'll keep the 4k Pro for now until the bugs are ironed out on the Gen 5.
In my opinion, that's a good decision
The video quality of the 4k pro is so good, surely once the bugs are sorted the gen 5 will be good 👍

Sorry for the late reply, yeah, it sucks. It was so bad I returned the pair I bought.
Had 5 4ks they all crashed , frozen , wouldn’t turn on out the box . There reply was to always carry a laptop with me incase 😂
I had great luck with my 4k's but these gen5 scopes were no good.
