One thing a lot of videos miss, is that the ALT and Amiga keys are the same size keys - so the keycaps can be swapped easily. This means if you're set up to reset your Amiga/emulation with ctrI-alt-alt, you can put the Amiga keys in the Alt position to then achieve that mapping. The Function lock key combination is: Hold right Amiga key and then press the left Amiga key whilst the right is still held down. The other thing is WinUAE does allow custom key remapping - so it should also not be too tricky to get the keys working in the positions/ shortcuts you prefer. It's s strong keyboard. I don't want to criticise (even the costs). Can't someone create Amiga logo cherry keys, then a small app for the Amiga that re-maps keys appropriately? I think Lyra 3 has a similar intention for the keympapping?????

There's one major issue with this keyboard for me. The price. £140 is a lot of a keyboard. Add to that the shipping cost to where I live (Norway) + the 25% tax that the Norwegian government will charge... Yeah, that's an expensive keyboard, and I just can't defend paying that much for a basic mechanical PC keyboard.
I have one of these. The original DAS Keyboard from 2009 but it's black and the keys are blank. The clone of the IBM super brick keyboard. USB and PS2. I don't think they are possible to buy anymore...
A keyboard that costs that much, and does not fully work with the Amiga (even with a USB adapter), becomes an automatic deal breaker for me. If it came with an adapter that made it work with a real Amiga out of the box, then I could easily accept even the high price tag.
Considering USB was never a feature of the Amiga during it's production life, it's hardly surprising that USB devices don't work on them. USB on the Amiga is a hack. For a long time, computer keyboards have supported PS2 and/or USB standards and physical connectors. The Amiga was different. Getting them to work on an Amiga is down to the firmware and drivers for whatever USB interface you have in it. An AGP or PCI-E graphics card won't work in an Amiga... do you complain about the prices Nvidia, AMD or Intel charge because of that?
@@another3997 I don't care. The product does not fully work with the Amiga, where others do. I am the client, which means technicalities are meaningless to me. So, I won't pay for it, especially given it is marketed as an Amiga keyboard in some way. The AMD and NVidia comparison is irrelevant, it has nothing to do with this.
Ahh, you are too kind. I will trash it. If I was sent a free one to review I guess I would try to find something positive to say. Since I don't have that to bias me I can say honestly, nothing to see here. Edit: okay if a person wants this keyboard to use with WinUAE then fine. But it would be funny to take a free emulator and put a $200 keyboard on it. I would rather buy that Raspberry Pi keyboard that is the entire computer for $70. At least that is sort of in the spirit of an A500/600/1200.
I’m not sue what you mean. I’ve only ever been sent one thing for free from a vendor and my review of that item was like all mine. Exactly as i experienced it. For that kind of money it needs a lot of work. I don't need a peecee keyboard, I have plenty of those. I'd love something like this for my PiMiga, but not having the right Amiga keys just ruins it.
Mechanical keyboards are expensive, that's true whatever platform you use. Considering the Amiga has been out of production for decades, and it was decidedly non-standard, do you seriously expect anyone to design and manufacture a completely new keyboard for a small proportion of the already niche, Amiga market? New key caps for standard keyboards are cheap and easy to get hold of. Maybe you expect Nvidia to make Zorro versions of their GPUs, and someone to start making 68060 CPUs again?
Sorry, there is a workbench utility called keyboard tester or something. You should be able to press all the keys at once because of the way real A1200 keyboard matrix circuit works. I don't think USB or PS/2 can do that. I've tried it recently. It's possible to push all the keys at once and each key will be shown as pressed. My brain was blown on a something from 1993 OEM. Great for gaming!
