    This is the best blender furniture tutorial I have found so far. Your approach is fascinating. Thank you.

    Thanks for sharing. I came here because a friend who is a beginner could not follow along all steps due to missing screencast keys and asked me to help.
    Your tutorial is great, but maybe consider showing the keys. I use the screencast addon from Jayanam, it shows mouse clicks as well as the keys.
    Anyway, great content on your channel. Subscribed.

    I couldn't get the Loops: Circle thing to work, but it still turned out really good in the end. Thanks!

      for me it was doing somewhat thole (bad) circle from those 5 vertices, not only 1/4 circle.

      haha nice i'm not the only one, i did had it before without looptools, but i wanted to follow the directions without going off track. i'll just figure it out by moving things around

    Thank you for the tutorial. I believe I messed up the comer mesh where you "shear" and turn the corner, because maybe I didn't follow the shape of the seam well. In the future, can you please display your mouse and keyboard buttons on screen so I can follow exactly what you are doing> thank you. It helps as I am a absolute beginner and following every detail counts or else something gets lost and its hard for me to understand what went wrong

    there are also holes in the mesh after the mirror modifier, merge at .001, clipping selected, vertex groups selected. I did the clean up merge by distance. There are still holes and a huge gap before the next mirrored object. How do I fill in those holes? thank you

    How do I make a loop cut around the whole rectangular mesh (to start the couch's back geometry after those first 2 cuts)? When I used ctrl+R, and the dropdown option, it's a cut between the two other cuts I just did rather than completely cutting around the entire mesh.

  • @liquidmasl

    thats impressive.
    I would have probably tried to simulate it with textile and pressure and what not lol

    I'm havinf some trouble at 4:58, where you use LoopTools. After selecting Circle, the loop gets all twisted and looks nothing like a quarter circle. Any ideas on how to fix this? I made a post in r/blenderhelp as well if anyone wants to chime in.
    Thanks!

    • @saharablind8083
      @saharablind8083 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same happens for me. It seems its trying to make a circle of only the five vertices selected, instead of taking the mirrored sides into account of the circle

    • @asmallroom
      @asmallroom 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I spent a while trying to figure this out. First, make sure you ctrl+A and Apply Scale after resizing the plane. When I hit Circle, Merge gets unchecked in the Mirror modifier so recheck that. Then reposition the verts a little to make the circle. It's not ideal but it's such a small detail it doesn't have to be a 100% perfect cirlce. Hope that helps!

    Hello !
    Thanks for this complete tutorial. it's a real pleasure learning things with you. I just have a question, at 14:14, you selected only the top of the form. How to do such a thing ? Thank you :-)

    • @ChristinaMcKay
      @ChristinaMcKay 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 6:40 he separated the upper part from the rest. When you have a face selected and press L that selects the connected faces, so in this case only the top.

  • @tomasm1233
    @tomasm1233 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @2:08 I think you have to choose to "edge" otherwise it won't snap correctly. At least for me "vertex" mode didn't work.

    • @imeshh
      @imeshh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to snap to a vertex you have to make sure vertex snap is turned on, grab the edge/vertex/face you want and then drag it along the X, y or z axis and make sure your mouse moved over the vertex you want to snap it to. If you only move it somewhere that there are no vertices then it won't snap

    • @tomasm1233
      @tomasm1233 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imeshh I did exactly you suggested but it would not snap. It would just drag until I stop. However it would snap perfectly fine selected as "edge". I am on Blender 2.83.

    I have Blender 2.81 installed but when I render my images and save it in the folder it seems like Blender is not saving them. I can´t find them in the folder.

    • @imeshh
      @imeshh  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I'm not sure why that would happen. Could be a bug with 2.81 maybe. Maybe try saving in a different format and into a different folder and see if it helps

    This program is so difficult to follow with tutorials because when I do something, it doesn't do it how you're showing in the tutorial. When I used G and Z to create the button dip via a plane with the insets, it was pulling the entire object down the z axis instead of the vertices in the center square that I highlighted for the operation. What the HECK is wrong with it?

    • @fvchs
      @fvchs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably have proportional editing on and with a big radius of effect. Press O to turn it off!

    • @preston7263
      @preston7263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fvchs Thanks, I fixed it by decreasing the radius of effect. Looked up how to decrease that in the doc. I think some beginner tutorials are more intermediate level of beginner than the level I'm at now.

    • @fvchs
      @fvchs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@preston7263 Maybe search for a beginner tutorial to get used to the common shortcuts and tools! It's a steep learning curve at the beginning but once you get the hang of it everything makes sense! Also, the Blender manual and the search tool in the program will save your life often. Glad to help!

    • @preston7263
      @preston7263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fvchs Thanks for the suggestion. I'm using this tutorial for understanding how to do things, what they're for in creating an actual model rather than merely guessing at how certain tools / shortcuts are performed. I did an interface tutorial, and that helped a bit...but doing those tutorials is mainly a one-time thing which makes it difficult to remember what I saw when I actually try modeling something.
