#1 There was absolutely NO reason to mention anyone HIV status unless you go in to detail talking about if that person may happen to use their status as a way to fight the stigma associated with HIV. #2 Not sure why you mention Laurie H but then didnt put her on the list, especially as a winner of an Olympic Gold Medalist. #3 I do appreciate the video for the most part
I love gymnastics 🤸🏻♂ cause it makes you flexible and works out with your whole body. How about talking about swimming 🏊🏼♂, ice-skating ⛸, martial artists 🥋, and dancing 💃🏼🕺🏼 next?
It’s affirming to see these brave examples of sports stars. However, in the commentary, the phrase ‘confessed’ or ‘admitted’ is used about coming out. These phrases imply wrong doing or that someone has been caught in a crime and reinforce internalised homophobia as well as that which is in society anyway. We must, in my view, claim a narrative and description based on our truth and not as a response to society’s views of of, which are wron and cause us lifelong harm. When we come out we ‘declare’, and this puts us in the driving seat of our lives, choices and futures! Love and love only to all of my LGBTQ+ family ♥️💚
Poor sweetie! He is upset about internalized homophobia, but he does not give a crap about the letter Q which is a word used to insult homosexuals. Shame on you to not say anything about it. There is nothing brave in 2022 to coming out. People that came out in the 70s and 80s were the brave ones.
Could we leave out the verb _confess_ , as though being gay were a crime to confess to? It crept in here, as it has in many other such videos. Secondly, it is odd to add that one or two of these athletes is HIV+, but leave out an explanation for another being photographed in a wheelchair. Otherwise, it was helpful to be introduced to all these athletes. I think I knew only of Dominic Clarke before, or at least he stuck in my mind, because he just participated in the Tokyo Olympics. I watched the trampoline event on TV, so it is pretty fresh in my mind.
@donk8105 Who cares if it offends people. It was a harmless comment. Clearly you sucked as a gymnast( as well as other things) , gymnasts are tough. Very good video. It's time to end homophobia in all sports. Do you have a video on synchronize swimmers who are lesbian? Such a video would be a welcomed and informative addition to your series.
Think; we didn’t know they were gay, but would that information have influenced how fans measured their performances prior to knowing this? The ability or training for sport or any employment doesn’t actually depend upon the sexuality of the applicant as supportive of their abilities.
Interesting video. Although, I don't think it's relevant to mention people's HIV status in this specific video (even if the person in question made this info public).
I didn’t know Laurie was gay either. But what I do know about Laurie is that she a super talented gymnast and I was so so disappointed she didn’t make our team for Tokyo. I know she was working to come back but then Covid happened, etc. She had so much poise for her age at the last Olympics. I think she contributed a lot to the gold medal in the team event. I wish her well in her life.
I just had a thought. I remember there being a vid on black LGBT last year but it was taken down. How about returning that, along with since May is around the corner, there'll b a new vid on Asian LGBT, Sep 15th-Oct 15th is Hispanic heritage month will b for Hispanic/Latin's but also for Native/Indigenous Americans because it has, it really been confirmed to b the same skin color, just different cultures. April is Arab heritage month, but unfortunately there r no LGBT Arabian celebs or athletes as far as my knowledge for a vid; if so, not enough.
First, I never understood anyone in entertainment giving a gay person a hard time, considering so many of them are gay themselves, or around so many other gay people. In school, most of the guys in drama class were gay. Haha Even in certain sports, people make assumptions, so why are they even surprised. Not that assumptions are alright, but come on, it was in your head anyway. It seems that places where it seem prevalent, is where gay people get the most criticism.
ARTURO Mariano?! JC! You Americans don't even bother to know that Spanish and Portuguese are different languages. As a Brazilian, his name is ARTHUR Mariano.
Henry, a small step would be to buy some Gay clothes to wear-a shirt or cap with our flag proudly displayed. Try not to be afraid. Hooray for you for considersing this step and being proud and honest about the real Henry.

@@Iknowyoumadnow Don't understand why you thought my post was homophobic as I am Gay, also. Henry asked for advice and what I advised was a small step.
Yes I can help you! This is what we have to do. First we have to get together and date. The we need to have sex to make it believable that we are a gay couple. After having sex with each other everyday for 3 months, then we can announce together that we are gay and that we love each other
Please, please, PLEASE stop using the word "confessed" when talking about coming out! One "confesses" sins and wrongdoings. One doesn't "confess" their truth. The word you're looking for is "profess". People PROFESS their truth.

Yes, the word is acknowledge not confess, which is a word used in courts and churches.

I yearn for the day when our sexual orientation will not define us. It will be, "Simply is." Moveon.

Disappointed that you didn't go into any detail about Laurie Hernandez aside from mentioning that another gymnast was in a relationship with her.
It's pretty obvious from the pictures....

I kind of assume that male divers, gymnasts, ice skaters and ballet dancers are gay by default.

I'm not gay but Ruggeri is the perfect Roman god.
me neither, but would love to cuddle with ARTURO
Woah well I never knew about Rut Castillo until now ☺
They tell the world and still almost nobody heard of them
Whatever floats your boat. I just want everybody to be happy.
absolutely love Ruth Castillo, queen of RG in Mexico
Why are you referencing two of the gymnasts HIV postive status in this video when the subject is about gay gymnasts not HIV?
ARTURO Mariano?! JC! You Americans don't even bother to know that Spanish and Portuguese are different languages. As a Brazilian, his name is ARTHUR Mariano.
Quem fez esse vídeo é da Filipinas e não dos Estados Unidos
When I was younger we tried to name the gay games as gay olympics but were refused. Ha ha jokes on you
I dind't know about Ruggeri, anyway he is so hot..... I also tought Danusia Francis to be lesbian.
You missed all the men who are doing Rhythmic Gymnastics.
:)))))
Arthur Mariano, no Arturo

I know Max Whitlock is a straight guy and I like the way he is that’s why I’m gay for him ❤

Arturo mariano tho 🥵
Or the WNBA, & USA woman's Olympic Soccer team.
like the WNBA you just assume they all are.
And the LGPA too I bet.
Can we hear the real voice of you for once? And i also wanna see you

Wow. Love always wins
The narration in this video is HORRIBLE. So robotic and awkwardly celebratory, and even the copy is robotic.

Great to see gymnasts accept they are gay.
You guys should make a research before pronouncing non-English names. It was a disaster.
4:20 both are gays !
Very beautiful ! 💘💘💘

I like Paul Ruggeri alot!;I wanna give a kiss on his cheek!!!!!!!

I'm proudly gay myself, and came out at a very young age.
