- So this has been over on Patreon for a while haha, not sure why so long but I think it's a good time to share my reaction to Hua Chenyu performing 'Nunchucks' on I think, The Singer???
This was a reaction request from the big list, which is still pretty mammoth haha... and I can honestly say, I was not expecting this!

I love your reactions. Hua Chenyu is a musical genius who doesn't need to be put into any category.... he is unique, like Dimash, only in a different way. He is a very talented composer, singer and performer, hius fans call themselves "Martians". Each year he holds a series of concerts over a period of, I think 6 days ( I could be wrong about that). The concerts are awesome and I very highly urge you to watch at least one. Hope you keep reacting to him.

This year marks his tenth anniversary since debut, and he is currently hosting a nationwide concert tour. In total, there have been 19 evening concerts, with nearly 500,000 participants. In September, he performed at China's largest Bird's Nest Stadium, attracting an audience of over 100,000 in a single show. It's safe to say that he is one of the most renowned singers in China today.
Originally, Hua Chenyu had no intention of participating in the "Singer 2018" program. At that time, he was planning to travel abroad during his work break. However, he was strongly invited to come back and join the program. In the fourth episode, he replaced an eliminated singer as a substitute contestant and successfully entered the competition. As you can see, he defeated Jessie J, who had won three first places in the first three episodes, with the song "Qi Tian" and emerged victorious in EP4.
Interestingly, Hua Chenyu expressed the idea that music should have a stage, not a competition. He believes that each singer has unique characteristics. Therefore, he carefully selected a series of songs to depict his personal growth and life experiences through music.
Hua Chenyu said, "Actually, each song I sang in Singer 2018 reflects a different mountain in the uphill battle of personal growth."

"Nunchucks" => My stubbornness;
"I Don't Care" => My indifference;
"Flammable and Explosive" => The world's conflicting expectations of me, What do you want from me?

"Ordinary Path" => Clenching my teeth to face myself;
"I Am What I Am" => Finding myself.
"New World" Transcending myself.

Yes, he’s an excellent performer, singer, and composer. But what sets him apart IMHO is his ability to emote honest and complex feelings to an audience, not simply love or loss. From your comments, I think you’ll like “Child” better. Thanks for reacting to Hua Chenyu again.
Hua Hua wrote this for the Movie "Wukong". Ask older relatives if they remember the series on British TV called "Monkey Magic". Yes, this was Week 4 of Singer 2018 (but first week Hua Hua appeared). Next up should be "Child", and then "Nunchucks" followed. Others will explain that Hua Hua used every week to describe HIS life, different from others. I cannot explain why "Wayfarer", "Glimmer" and "I am what I am" have turned out to be my favourites on that Series. Because I've actually liked others ones before. You may also like KZ Tandingan. She is very interesting.
He won the 2020 Series of Singer. You will not believe how he keeps growing. His Concerts in recent years have to be seen to be believed. We have nothing like it in the West.
Hua was asked to compose Qi Tian as the theme song to the movie “The Story of Wukong”. All the harmony comes from Hua Chenyu, including the high-pitched singing towards the end of the song.
He came second to Jessie J in the Singer 2018. He was invited back to join Singer 2020, which he won. I would suggest you check out the songs he sang in Singer 2018, in the order below. The songs' lyrics are important, so I suggest you find the videos with English subtitles from Hua Chenyu English Subs, fourth row down, fourth picture. This links to the first video - Qi Tian. • “Nunchucks” was my arrogance;
• “I Don’t Care” was my disdain;

• “Wayfarer (Mountain and Sea)” my disappointment after I opened up to the world;
• “Fake Monk” struggling myself, saving myself;
• “The Ordinary Road” I clenched my teeth to face myself;
• “I Am What I Am” I found myself. I really reminisce singing Mr. Leslie Cheung’s “I Am What I Am”.
• “Shout” after I scaled on top of a mountain to surpass myself”.

Yes he's definitely unique. That is why I respect him as a musical artist. Hope you continue on with his performances on Singer as you will find diverse styles. It's a good start to where he is now even progressed even more now. If you want to take a journey to his progress or just jump to his newer ones all is good. He is someone very interesting to follow and full of surprises.

Hua Chenyu is massive in China and has been touring this year, his next concert of 50,000 tickets for December sold out in 1 second of going on sale! He works constantly between television work (Music mentor in some shows, pro music contestant in others and also some fun as part of Chinese variety game shows all whilst still creating music and performing his concerts.
He has continued to expand his style and each song can be very different to the last using different musical elements, he's never boring to watch and the footage of his recent concerts is just spectacular!
So pleased to hear you are going to look at Child next, you will find it a complete contrast!. I'd recommend you look at some of his live stage performances such as Madhouse or for a more recent piece from this year "Illusion and Reality"

I have not heard any of Hua's Singer 2018 performances.
I do remember how surprised I was to see him sitting with the contestants while Dimash was singing Hello as a guest.
To be honest, this was an okay song but not really my thing with all the Rap.😔
My favorite song by Hua is Giant Deer which I have heard so many times that it is memorized.
