Ever since Labour Hire and the casualisation of the construction/mining industries began, JOB SAFETY has been thrown out the window.. If a casual worker raises a SAFETY issue, that effects productivity, that worker is told there is no longer any work for them... For proof, look at the number of onsite injuries and deaths when unions were strong...... Site managers should be held personally liable for sub standard safety standards. But, whilst these companies are permitted to make so called "political donations" to Australian Politicians, nothing will change.. We all know, there is no such thing as a free lunch! These "donations" (back-handers) need to be abolished .
Commonwealth is the most important word invented, and in existance, literally meaning 'Common Well-being' that is a gift beyond measure, whom invented this concept was a genius.
Safety at the end of the day is each person doing a job to do the right thing.....but as humans we take short cuts and always will. Sadly some pay the ultimate price....itlf you were to look at it on a percentage basis on every job done on mine sites the fatality rate is next too zero. Its very hard on people left behind....just like road safety there will always be deaths no matter what laws are in place, and unlimited enforcement of these laws there will still be 1000's of deaths a year because humans take short cuts everyday. We are under government attack, taxation without representation. Repeal personal tax, tax Chinese imports, no tax for Australian manufacturers.
