- Seeing as I don't have much else to do with my weekends, I decided to head out into one of the busiest tourist spots in London to see if they could help me out with the crossword.

Female deer is doe. Roe is fish eggs
Roe deer are one of the native British deer species, which was her confusion. I presume then you can have a 'roe doe'. The males are called bucks not stags.
Roe are small, common, pair but don't herd, with simple antlers. Woodland.
Red deer are large, males 'stags', large multi point antlers, herds and groups, mixed ground more open. Limited to particular areas including famously the Highlands of Scotland.
Fallow deer: Roman introduction, intermediate size, southern England widely, well established, dappled hide, occasionally white form, herds, multi point antlers, woodlands and edge.
