Another solid week of books!
David Brothers is co-writing Time Waits, with Marcus To on art duty. Noticing that some of the DSTLRY books have multiple writers on a project.
At the beginning of Wolverine #1 at the opening credits page it says this story takes place before x-men and uncanny x-men. Wolverine has been acting off and what's to distance himself so maybe this story will answer that.
@@comicsjoe0409 yeah I just wish they didn't have two different story lines going at the same time. Because what's the point of this solo series if whatever transpires eventually ends and he joins his old X-Men buddies. And so far he's just fighting old enemies.
@@ComicCulture Wolverine sells is the correct answer. I don't like it cuz I want a single flow and we already got Wolverine revenge, Wolverine venom war an a Claremont flashback story. Wolverine is marvels batman

I finally dropped both Ultimate Black Panther and Ultimate X-Men. Kinda tired of hanging on to very mediocre books when there are so many really good ones on the shelves?

I love this review show! This week my ranking were very similar to yours.
Ain't No Grave #5 was my top pick this week. I just love the interaction with Ryder and Death. It was such good writing on the part of, "hey you want more time with your family but you took all this time away from all these people and families, you deserve nothing." I was a little confused with the whole, "hit me you get more time with your family" because it seemed like she didn't really get any time at all except when she's staring at them at the end. Overall though the art was so great this whole run and the story was solid.
Dark Empty Void #1 was my bottom pick this week as well. The concept i thought was cool, a black hole with some crazy $%^& coming through it. However it just ended up being such a boring story that they had to introduce this side story of a couple going through divorce on top of it. Also the plot is really bad, you got a top secret facility with a black hole but you need your soon to be ex-wife who is just a university professor to run the show with your inter-dimensional life form. Just bad.
Time Waiting was disappointing to me as well, I've only read a few of Chip's books but i find they have a great concept and poor execution.
I think that was the beauty of the ending. The initial bargain was can I see my family again one last time. I think death only gave her that because of their relationship. She then tried to bargain a second time saying she wanted to speak with them. But death makes her think that he'll allow it but in reality as she started to go towards them he let her know that time was up. Her reaction to that cocking of the hammer to me was her finally giving in and understanding death's perspective
@@ComicCulture i agree i caught on to that as well. I was just thinking perhaps for each shot maybe she would get an extra year or something. However, like you said her time was up. I guess another poet part of this is she went trying to stop death instead of spending more time with her family. Death doesn't care, and when your time is up, you can't cheat death, you can't fight it. Just like the book expertly portrayed.

@@ComicCulture ahh that must have been the moment i misunderstood the story, sometimes she hits his robes and i thought that counted. When she clearly misses is when he gives her the memories of what she will be missing. Even better story though that she missed every shot. In a way another poetic way to look at the story haha thank you
@Gorrgrim yeah each miss gives her a glimpse of what she will be missing in her family's lifetime. And every time she misses she gets more and more emotional and distracted, rightfully so. To the point where she misses every shot, which leads her to the bargain to see them one last time. Really a beautiful scene
