The problem clearly isn't Roque, it's Barca for bringing him in. They were desperate for any answers in front of goal because if we look back Lewandowski was clearly performing poorly. Unlucky for Roque, around that same time he was signed is when Lewandowski started to pick up some form. Roque didn't fail, Barca failed Roque.

Vini was raw, but he had electric pace, dribbling skill, and intensity. Roque has none of that. Roque has zero impressive attributes. He is small, weak, slow, not fluid, uncoordinated, terrible at dribbling/passing, terrible first touch. Literally no potential to become a Barca quality player. Xavi knew that.

I'm dissapointed with Barca's treatment of Roque. I guess we have to count on La Masia, because based on how we treat young players and the fact that some ramifications in players rejecting Barca (like Guler and Zubimendi for example) already appearing, La Masia is all we have going forward now.
It's really not cool to sell Victor Roque without letting him have a fair chance to prove himself. This guy chose to come to Barca over other top clubs, and it's a shame he didn't get the chance to shine.

Limited playtime was all there to save money. Xavi actually depended on him when season needed to be saved, but once it was clear that season has crashed, Barca board instructed Xavi to limit Roque’s playtime to have few mil euros extra for this transfer window.
This also explains why his agent was so pissed, because his commission has also reduced due to the above and he did everything in his power to put pressure on Barca to get Roque lots of minutes in last few matches, but Barca didn’t budge.
Give Vitor a full season and play him for 20 games, then we'll have a chance to see what he brings to the team.

Hello Jamie first of all I have been following since the Neymar to PSG transfer saga and am super proud of how far this channel has come since those days. I have suffered some of our worst defeats and remember waiting a couple hours later just to hear your thoughts and reaction. I wanted to give an opinion that we should probably hold back on signing Olmo this summer for that amount when we can allocate those funds for Jamal Musiala next summer. This would also allow us to have a year to recover financially after the Nico signing! Keep up the great work!!

Hey Jamie. Theory on Roque: He might be so bad in training that the training staff cannot justify playing him. Imagine if they see every session that he is not at Barca level and other players are better than him. They don't want to test him on the field when they already know he isn't good enough. And both Xavi and Hansi saw this very quickly. Thoughts? Its just a theory, nothing backing it but just my own opinion.

Appreciate the update, especially the Nico segment…..agree that it’s sheer bad business for Barca regarding Vitor…..that’s y Barca can’t get out of the financial problems they’re in……how can a club investment so much in a player and call it a mistake immediately after the transaction was completed….it’s ludicrous…..it’s really sad as the guy is talented, very young, he ignored a lot of offers to fulfill his dream of coming to Barca and top of all that he was never given a chance.
Malcolm’s situation was so much different. At least he played 24 games with Barça and started in 11 of them.
