Nice job Curtis... My daughter is disabled..severe cerebral palsy, she is blind, can't talk, but as soon as she hears your voice she gets excited and when your music starts she laughs and giggles during the whole video.... became our nightly thing to watch your videos together.... Thanks for bringing a smile to her face ... Blessings from Ohio
wait hold on a minute curtis you said that because there was only ice on the evap coil and none outside you knew it was low on refrigerant? I didn't even think of that but it makes total sense. Most of the time If I see a coil is fully iced up I will just leave the call and come back without even attempting a leak search. But knowing this info helps a lot
I bet was was already getting hot up in the attic. That ice block wouldn’t hang around long. It’s even in the mid 70’s up here in the mountains today. Time to start staying hydrated!
Oh my goodness, you are the MAN! Love your content, keep it coming. If I was a young dude, I'd watch your videos and look into training and make it my trade! HVAC King! Hehehehe... Thank you sir!
Just a little bit short on freon causes all that. When mine gets low, it doesn't freeze up, but efficiency goes in the toilet. I have heard that any system that sits for a long time will lose refrigerant, even if it is on a molecular scale. Nice job
If you don't find an active leak, there's a good chance it was just simple lack-of-use and the tendency of pressurized gas to seep out through various seals that caused a slight loss of charge. I imagine valve stems leak on HVAC much like it does with tires, it's par for the course.
Good lord what a flue on the furnace…also did you do a pressure test on the system isolating the condenser, to rule out the lineset or evap coil leaking?…or maybe it was never charged properly to begjn with
Love your videos. I’m not an HVAC tech but am confused about how you knew when you got it up to the proper charge. 2 degrees subcooling seemed awful low yet. What am I missing?
Those half-strung red wires look like a local ( to South GA ) fly-by-night smoke detector company. In Moultrie, they went around preying on the elderly, installing pre-broken chinese units for "half the price of the bigger names" , but they never worked and the company would fold up and go scam another place (Thomasville, Tifton, etc )
WoW you got like 2k worth of leak detectors doesn’t any of them work as advertised or you don’t trust them? plus why didn’t you weigh the freon you put in to charge the customer? good video
@@HVACGUY Just fixed an old r22 Goodman heat pump today. Had a bad relay for the blower fan. I also found a full 30 pound bottle of R22 at my work. That stuff is worth a pretty penny. I like R12, I have a mini fridge from late 70's or early 80's and still works fine. Just had to swap a thermostat.
"Didn't really take much refrigerant" so wonder how much he charged the customer since he didn't actually weigh how much he put in. Just curious. I like this guy but sometimes he just does things that seem to be winging it.

Where did you get the new Stratus?
Nice; will you need to go back in a month or two to check the charge in case there is a leak?

Were you charging that unit from the high side?
No
2:27 it sounded like it was purring
I thought you got rid of one of those leak detectors. What do you think about those ones ?
What is the brand of the black leak detector
JB
How do you like your JB leak detector? I have the same one and I’m not a big fan of it but my company pays for all the tools so it’s whatever I guess
Consistently ok
What's your favorite refrigerant?
R-22

Just curious how come you don’t weigh your refrigerant in? I usually write how much I put in and the date on the back of the door
Is that the noise that leak detector makes or is the sound off and it's vibrating? It sounds like it's vibrating? LOL. Was just wondering.
It vibrates, and I had the beeper turned off
So does one like this keep you awake at night? Low for no reason?
No, the only thing that may keep me up is carbon monoxide
👍👍👍
Get the fan running with him a little bit
Why not use a headlamp 😁 Save a little time not adjusting the light. I just got me a coast.
