I actually got all of these. My brother worked there at the time and basically just swiped a big bagfull of them(thinking he was going to make money from them). Then I swiped them from him. I used to run Cosmo Queen just because of the incredible artwork, even if I got ran through by a Blue Eyes sometimes.
i am working on a translation patch of the first DM game on the gameboy and learning about pre OCG era yugioh, the cards on this set are unobtainable by normal gameplay, being promotional and tournament prizes only. if we take in account that there wasn't tribute summon back then and that other cards where a pain to get, they were pretty decent to say the least. by the time they were printed on paper on the OCG a year later they were pretty weak already but i could understand the nostagic value of those cards. now, when they were released on america without any context and three years later, those cards were just a joke.
6:00 the weird stats aren't Takahashi's fault, all of those monsters had stats divisible by 100 in the manga, it was Konami in their early video games that invented the "darkness" field power bonus and modified them to pretend their manga stats were achieved thought it.
Godess interestingly doubles its current attack and not the original. Equipping with some card before you activate the effect can be leqd to quite the strong attack. But you gotta call the coin toss right. It's gimmicky but can be good theoretically.
Ushi-Oni is a very useful fusion creature in the first 1/3 or so of Forbidden Memories. Unfortunately, that game is super unfair so take what you will from my comment.
Millenium Shield is one of my favorite cards of all time. Still have my set from back then. I know they’re like $50’s now but i’ll never sell them lol.
Shame u didn’t mention how you could infinitely flip a coin for Goddess of Whim’s effect giving it basically infinite attack points if you were willing to flip that many coins
Did you get these cards when they came out at McDonalds? If so, which ones did you get?

Years later Millemium Shield and Sengenjin will become retrains themselves in the Millemium archtype
@@Lucario1121 yep!
Frog the Jam is too powerful
His croaking is too terrible!
Needs to be banned immediately...

You know it’s bad when the best card in the entire set is millennium shield
Well, the set wasn't about the metagame, it was simply a promotional thing, nothing more nothing less.
I always think of buying millennium shield. The artwork is so sick, but the card is damn expensive.
Pay the price! Haha there is a cheaper alt art version!
@@JanjoZone yeah, I know. I got the alternate version already. Looks way worse than the McDonald's version, unfortunately.
Great video! The bgm you use sounds like the forbidden memories ost with a twist.
Yep! It's a remix!
Millenium Shield is one of my favorite cards of all time.

UDE did rule it is only a once per turn effect in at the latest Jan 2004. Yeah that effect would be wild otherwise lol
Great video G 🙏
Thank you 🙏
