@@suminshizzles6951The two big supermarkets in Australia, Woolworths and Coles are starting to get nervous about how big Amazon are getting in Australia because they see a threat to their cozy duopoly over the majority of the Australian supermarket and fresh food market share. Amazon is developing Distribution Centres in each state or territory or multiple centres as warranted and Coles and Woolworths are worried that Amazon could if they develop a frozen and fresh food annex to their centres then they will be able to fight for market share in the developing home delivery market, the Shop, Click, Delivery market which grew significantly in Australia during Covid thanks to several Lockdowns particularly in Melbourne.

My father is from Chemnitz, Germany where his father owned an apartment building. One of the tenants was his aunt who was a Luftschutz warden. After the war the family left for America, but her and her husband decided to stay, and she would remain there until her death in the mid 1990's. When Germany was unified my father was notified that title of the building was restored to him and he had to make several trips back and forth. Every time he came home, I was like a kid in a candy store because she had kept every item that she used in the function of her job. She had multiple helmets, her identification book (similar to a small lightweight soldbuch), blue armband, bread bag with oversized canteen, asbestos mop, gas mask canister, belt buckle and the Luftschutz Hausepotke (oversized metal first aid kit mounted to the wall with every item still included). My favorite item however was a photo my father took of her in her late 80's proudly wearing her Luftschutz helmet on her head for the last time.

Another of Hitler's alter egos was the sorcerer Rasputin, who seduced every eligible female member of the Russian Imperial Family only to have them assassinated. He then installed his puppet Communist government in their place. That's why he was preparing for war so far in advance. He wasn't concerned about losing because the victors were his puppet delegates anyway, which he could use to covertly expand Nazi influence just when everyone thought the threat had abated. It wasn't about victory vs. defeat. It was about preventing unnecessary casualties from sloth and carelessness. After all the support for his power was Germany's enormous population by European standards.

No idea why the first Upload of this was removed, i guess TH-cam being TH-cam, but i repeat my Comment:
I work as Historian here in Munich, Germany as well as collect such Items myself and this one is one of those overlooked Items by most Collectors, i personally do enjoy them so i'm happy to see you got one and appreciate it! Now for those curious what this Item is all about:
The Reichsluftschutzbund started to organise yearly ""Entrümpelungen" which translates to "de-clutterings" for Citizens in the Reich and make the People put the Items, Furniture etc. the don't really need anymore infront of their House so People in need of them can pick them up.
We still do this today in Germany, but on a private voluntary basis of course. It's a yearly thing, especially in rural Areas where it helps build Community.
I also learned from yesterdays Responses that this is also done in the USA and im sure in many other Countries, which is nice to hear!
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps

In the US we had the US Citizen's Defense Corps, air raid wardens wore white WWI style "doughboy" helmets with a the US civil defense logo. At the time it was suspected that Axis forces might be able to reach North America. My great grandfather was an air raid warden in Dayton, Ohio and it was his job to go around during blackouts to make sure people had all sources of light turned out at night. I had a Luftschutz Helmet ( M40 ) for years. Paid $2.00 for it 1968 ! In 1986 I gave it to a Latvian Friend whose Father had been pressed into Service to man an anti-aircraft gun at 15.

About 15 years ago I was at an antique mall in Michigan, USA and saw a Luftschutz helmet in super condition, but it appeared to have a bullet hit in the side above where the temple would be. I knew nothing about such things then and passed it over as I had no clue if it was original or not. I still think about it every once in a while, one of those missed buys. Thanks for the reminder Mark, haha!

An interesting story I thought I'd share. So several years ago in the 00s my mum was working in a care home. One particular resident she was doing out of hours care work for. The typical grumpy yet lovely late 90s type of old fella. Essentially a grumpy old f**k but also rather endearing and would give you these wry smiles. Essentially he was a bit of a troll playing on this facade of being a mean old man. He had various pictures of naval ships on his wall. My mum once quizzed him about said pictures. As it turned out he served on a minesweeper. If I recall correctly he was on gold beach in the Normandy landings and went on to tell his story about the liberation of Norway. The crew of his minesweeper were first on the ground in some Norwegian city I don't know which. They rushed to the local command centre. Quizzling who was the Head nazi had been overthrown by the local people and this group of armed sailors stormed his office. There was blood everywhere and no quizzling to be seen. The locals had caught up with him first. The wry old gentleman my mum was caring for opened a drawer in the desk of Quizzlings office and found his iron cross. So naturally he stole it. At this point in the story my mum became skeptical so she aired her skepticism. The old man told her to open the draw of his cabinet and there was an nazi iron cross in the draw. I'm not naming the old man in question but I will say that quizzlings iron cross is somewhere in Bristol UK.

Wonderful gift! My grandparents, (Both Americans) served in WWII. My grandfather was in the North African theater. My grandmother was a volunteer in the American Red Cross in Southern Italy. We have both of their "dog tags", my Grandfather's helmet, and lots of other items. My parents met in Italy on the Adriatic Sea Coast during a hiatus. They married in Wisconsin after the war. We have my grandmother's medals from her service, and a photograph taken of her, and one high-up Army man standing on the wing of a downed Nazi plane. Grandma is standing next to the swastika on the plane. She made an album of many days during the war. I am now just beginning to appreciate all this.

Quite a few years ago, 20 odd, I went with my dad to fix a photocopier at someone's house
Turns out this chap was a relic hunter who showed us his collection. He opened his vault and brought out some ancient scrolls which were vacuum sealed and some ancient Egyptian stuff. He also had a small leather bound box which housed Lord Haw Haws dental bridge from his skull. Alongside this box was the rope that hung him and also parts of the length and the noose that Albert Pierre point used to execute the concentration camp war criminals. I remember he put the noose around my neck!

Thank you for helping identify this not just as an artefact but a device to establish compliance and encourage disapproval from community for non compliance. Unfortunately many people will associate the totalitarian creep here with that particular piece of tin, with those particular holes, that specific writing and those specific graphic symbols. Totalitarianism is able to be repeated simply by changing the colour of paint schemes and syntax. Consider the historically overused “emergency powers” device. It seems to be accepted every time because it’s sold in a different coloured package.
