Are there any resources for homebuilders? I am looking for some guides on doing a semi auto re-activation. Where are these kits, striker assemblies, etc sold?
Check out the weaponsguild forums. I got mine from Bob Bowman on gunbroker, who has since sold out of these kits. The only person providing affordable conversion services is KP-Products, also on gunbroker.
Any budget 240v TIG welder will work. I personally use a Klutch st201dvi stick/tig machine, not a bad buzz box for about 350 or so. MIG will also work, but those machines tend to be a little more expensive and don't produce as nice of welds. You'll be fighting heat dispersion a little more as well, but you'll be up and running in about 30 minutes with some practice. TIG definitely has a learning curve.
@@miniatures1 Bowman and KP-Products used to stock them, but they don't sell them anymore. Probably will have to just make your own using some aluminum round bar. The PPSH-41 and other tube receiver guns like it aren't a hard science, clean up the slag, get a total length, account for weld shrinkage, and weld it back up.
@@miniatures1 Copper is the best when it comes to using as a weld backer, so I would maybe start with a scrap lot that you can pickup on ebay. You'll also definitely need cut off pieces that are different shapes.
I don't live in Germany, so I don't keep up with the laws. My assumption is likely no aside from buying a full deactivated gun that is pretty much welded shut and destroyed per the current EU standard. Some older deacts that haven't been updated might still be floating around, in those you can usually move the trigger, remove the magazine, and pull the bolt back. Usually anything pressure bearing is destroyed.
It is a straight-blowback weapon, where the system is relying on sheer mass of the bolt rather than a gas-piston system. As long as the cartridge seats onto the face of the bolt against the chamber, you should be fine. Most if not all aftermarket barrels are using original if not close to original specs based on measurements taken from demilled chamber stubs. The only time where this really isn't true is if you are turning your own custom barrel blank or if the blank you have is short-chambered and needs to have a reamer run through it.
Shouldn't matter either way for blowback guns with properly made barrel from a reputable company, but don't assume two guns are 1:1 alike. See the weaponsguild forums for more information.
@@devinsummers8082 Wipe down with Mineral Spirits, then with Simple Green, use a heat gun to draw out cosmoline. Depends on how far you want to go, if you want to preserve the finish, spend an hour or two with a heat gun and plenty of paper towels.
It would need to be an ATF approved design, like IO's system for BFONG weapons; otherwise I'd have to submit an example. If they don't like it, I don't get my parts back, and at nearly $700 per kit that isn't going to happen.
@@reidroberts121 That totally is up to the ATF's definition of "easily", see the situation revolving around the original TommyBuilt Tactical T36 receivers... You are more than welcome to try, though. If the ATF can find some stupid way to physically beat live "automatic fire" into a weapon, they will do it. Many of those BFONG systems actually use a "reverse bolt" system, which with significantly less effort, I can simply have a working semi version.

Weaponeer.net has some good forums on it.
@@tinkeringclaws5559 haven't they been gone for awhile?

What did you have the parts soaking in?
Water and Simple Green, brought to a boil to soften the cosmoline and grease.
How did you clean the stock?

If you really want it in full auto, you can make it blank fire only.

@@provenancemachining well actually, they don’t need to submit an example, cause if I can’t easily be changed back then it’s fine
