Coffee cascara has loads of polyphenols and it's been found to be protective for the brain. I do recommend putting the whole or half fruit chunks thru your coffee grinder and chopping up them into smaller pieces. It brews better and quicker!!
Thank you so much for the Information on cascara, it is my first time ever knowing anything about cascara. You are a GREAT TEACHER! I can't wait for the next. Thank You

+Heather Rowley - It was pretty new to me too until recently. Really flavorful stuff. I expected it to be like other herbal/fruity teas that smell awesome, but taste like hot water. The cascara tea though, was really rich in flavor. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
Looks awesome. Funny though that a by product of another process is probably dirt cheap to the locals but once someone determines that there's some use and possible health benefit the price skyrockets. I only looked briefly but it looks like this stuff runs $20+ a pound. Reminds me of whey protein. A by product of cheese making. Once thought of as waste and it was feed to livestock because it was cheap or free. Someone figured out people can use it as a supplement and now look...$10+ a pound for a waste product...lol
+Chad Ashton - To be honest, this is a concern I have as well. Kinda like what happened to quinoa. Used to be an affordable staple of developing countries, and now people are having fits if they're out-of-stock at Costco. But with fair trade practices, my hope is that this winds up being another source of income for coffee farmers.
+Endrikh Darkvine CXVI - No problem! You can checkout the blog post linked in the description for more information about cascara. It has more caffeine then tea, but less than coffee. Thanks for watching!
+Nikki Lopez - I purchased mine from Bird Rock Coffee roasters. They have two kinds, traditional Bolivan and one cured with lemon and verbena, I think: shop.birdrockcoffee.com/coffees/ Thanks for watching!

The Yemeni version Qishra bascially means cover or outer-most layer in Arabic
That's what cascara means in Spanish. When we peel mangos for example, the skin can be just called the mango's cascara.
