Hi. Doug from the video here. I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with the OHT. Rest assured that LP has taken note of the complaints, and they have been working on this. The first batch of several thousand units made had an issue with sharp edges on the metal bar that were wearing through the supporting line. This has been corrected, and in recent months the new ones have been making their way into stores. Thanks for your comments and kind words!
FYI: It is 2021 and I have had one of these for three years now. No breakage and still going strong! It looks like LP worked out the quality control issues they had with the launch model. Get one!
Hi. Doug H. here, from the video. Glad you like my invention! They are indeed in stores ... strange that you haven't seen them. You can always go to the LP site to get them also.
Don't wanna be a hater but be aware that the the metal rod might come loose after a couple of minutes of playing it for the first time. Causing it to rattle inside the plastic shell. I´ve had mine replaced three times. Be prepared to repair it yourself with plastic tubing. Should work nicely but surprises me for being a quality brand like LP. Great vid and product apart from this. Happy rattling.
I've been loving my OHT. I get a lot of compliments on it in the studio as well as live. although it can't replace playing a regular triangle (especially in a concert/classical setting) its still a great tool! As far as durability, the only problem I had recently was that one of the rubber bumper guards gave out. Quick fix: Used a small wire/zip tie. Doesn't seem to affect to resonance to a noticeable degree. Sounds better than the bi-angle hitting the plastic sides. Cheers!
Hi Matthias Haffner. Doug from the video here. Sorry you've had issues with the OHT. Trust me - LP has been made aware of durability issues, and they are always working on ways to improve it. Every new batch that is manufactured is given some kind of improvement. As the instrument's inventor, I'm always scanning the internet for comments. Quality and reliability is the goal!
My one handed triangle broke after two weeks already: the screws broke out of the plastic, so the sound was lost - instead of a Triangel-sound I had an ugly plastic "clack"sound. This product is a very good idea, but unfortunately bad quality.
Surely it has some merits? Maybe for pit work when you've got to move swiftly between instruments and there just isn't time to be faffing with beaters... I see where your coming from, but at the end of the day, does it not add convenience to quite a lot of situations?
I bought already 3 peaces of it. Unfortunately all tree are after few weeks of use already broken. It's a pity, a good sound but the quality of it is really very bad.
Hi ribpro. Doug from the video here. I'm sad to hear that you've had a bad experience with the OHT. Anytime I read or hear about a disappointed buyer, I let LP know. LP has made changes recently to improve the durability. It's also possible to repair the broken lines with fishing line. BTW, I went to your website. You do great work! Where are you based out of?
This seems to have the durability of a Glass Hammer! How can this be of any use if it is such low quality that it falls apart? Why is it so cheaply made? I can imagine this in the hands of children in an elementary class 'band' who simply drop or throw the thing away to claim the more exciting instrument.

returning this product. Good idea poorly, implemented. I don't like the way the striking ball remains in contact with the chime bar, thus creating a buzzy semi-damped tone. Perhaps if the striker were mounted on a piece of spring steel (a la flex tone) it would help in this regard. Can't comment on durability, dissatisfied with tone after 15 min. Product needs design update

Will definitively try the shaker and the triangle when it arrives!
Brilliant invention! Haven't seen it in any music stores though. Not yet anyway.

This is fairly brilliant
Hi Doug. Only a couple of weeks after posting my last comment, I actually found one in my local music store! :-)
