    Probably been said already. But 108, C1 and Aygo are basically the same car. Built in the same factory in the Czech Republic. TPCA. Just a few cosmetic differences. The model you have is the 2014 onwards platform. Great video again, by the way 👍

    The Peugeot 108 is the same as a C1 mk2 (post 2014) and the Aygo post 2014. The 999cc engine common to them all is a Toyota engine but the Peugeot and Citroen can have a 1.2 Flairtech engine. Although a redesign of the original Aygo, 107, and C1, many parts are common such as some of the running gear. If the one you have is 999cc petrol, it’s the same engine as used in the early model so the parts like the radiator are probably the same.

    You often see these fixed to the back of bigger campers so you can nip about once you have got to where you want at a camp site rather than using the camper. You are becoming a real man of leisure Rob what with the jetski and now this!
    These are lovely little motors. Not great content for you guys, but if you ever get one of these, C1 or Aygo 2014+ with a/c, I would love to buy one even if the doors are dented and scratched. Just want one for running back and fourth.

    Three city cars from three manufacturers built on the same platform at the same Czech factory. About 70 per cent of the new Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108 are identical, including bodyshell, engines and gearbox. Only the finishing design touches differ.

    Hi Rob, the Aygo AB20’s (2009 to 2012) AB30 Aygo (2012 red one) have a different exterior panels to the AB40 (2014 onwards) but the engine components are generally the same across the model years, the 1.0 petrols all use the 1KRFE l3 Daihatsu engines. They also part share with Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 (ab20/30) Peugeot 108 (AB40 2014 onwards). If I remember correctly there are slight differences between the AB30 and AB40 front panel but can’t be 100% sure.
    As you mentioned the exterior panels are different, as are the headlights and bumpers but the internals are all similar. They are all built side by side in the same factory in the Czech Republic.
    If you need new parts, don’t be afraid to contact all 3 main agents as there are price variations across all 3 for exactly the same part, they’re cheap run around cars so bits new aren’t particularly expensive, the same applies on VAG group cars. Also, price check your bits, some bits are either the same price new actually cheaper than they are second hand. Euro does also stock plenty of Denso parts new which , again are the same quality part without the manufacturer stamp.
    You’ll find the internal bits very reasonable but the panels can seem to be expensive simply because they are model/year specific. Hope this helps :)

      @DanLeeds10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to add, 1.0 petrol Yaris’ also uses the 1KRFE engine as well.

    Hi Rob and Chris, Another great video, thanks. Re the Sealey rachet wrench, got one and very handy little tool. Also got the matching 3/8 impact wrench that is even handier for removing smaller fasteners, on body panels, undershields, rocker covers, etc, not too aggressive, but powerful enough and very comfortable to use. Got most of the Sealey 12 volt range of tools and can thoroughly recommend them. Good luck lads.

  • @arweldavies8438
    @arweldavies8438 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Just to clarify what people are saying. Yes, the 108, C1 and Aygo are the same underneath. However, the 108 the lads have here is a facelift version and the Aygo in Kent Auto Salvage was a pre facelift, older version. Not so sure everything off the older model will fit the newer one but worth checking to save some £££ 👍🏻

    This looks good!! You mentioning interchangable bits reminds me of 52 years ago. As a lad I worked in a garage with an old dude. He was working on a Silver Shadow Roller and I was removing a starter motor from if I remember a MK1 Fraud Cortina. We both arrived at the workbench carrying a starter motor from each car. The old dude grabbed the Fraud part, put it along side the Roller part and guess what?...Identical. Only difference was the RR sticker on it.
    Roller part was a couple of hundred quid and the Cortina one was about a tenner. Tried and tested on the relevant equipment at the local Lucas centre proved both items were identical.
    Bonus time!!!!
    Cheers, Bob

    My partner has the Citroen C1 which is the same age and spec as your one. Very reliable cars which will sell well when you've got it done. £0 Road tax and it has only had tyres, discs and pads and a service in 3 years shes had it with 3 clear MOTs. Most of the parts between the Peugeot and citroen especially are interchangeable other than a few small cosmetic parts, but obviously the Aygo has a lot of parts you can use as well but you'll already know that haha. Keep up the good work 👍

    Done a fair few of these pugs and would recommend getting the mechanical parts from the same model 108 or a 2014 on mk2 aygo or mk2 c1, the part numbers are different on the alternator, it has a revised denso alternator, you will deffo have problems with the lambda sensor as with the earlier mk1 variants eml it will clear at first but engine light will come back on after a short drive, rads are the same but the fan part number is different so would advise to just change the fan, the front panel buy new from toyota as comes complete with the bottom part for only around £60 ish not worth the hassle of chopping removing spot welds etc, the front door colour code is same as the mk2 aygo so will go straight on if you get red, all you will need to change is the wing mirror as its not electric on the 108, the c1 front door has a black line trim and i wouldnt get that, not sure if ive missed anything else, good luck with the build

  • @dwinterx

    I had a Peugeot 107 not long after they first came out. As others have mentioned it was the same car essentially as the C1 and Toyota Aygo. Back in the day they were all built in one factory in the Czech Republic from what I remember. Also the engine which I believe won some awards for its size and lightness was derived from a Daihatsu engine, who were owned by Toyota. Wouldn't surprise me if most of the parts are Toyota really. Great video as usual, keep up the good work

    • @maidiac4607
      @maidiac4607 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the 107/8 and C1 are the most reliable cars PSA Peugeot Citroën ever sold, as most of the important things are from Toyota…

  • @astonman4
    @astonman4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Rob: Why don't you do what you've done in the past and get the car on the back of the truck and take it back with you, so you can do a side-by-side comparison and then take what you need and return the rest of the Aygo back to the salvage yard.
    Best of all for the internals, they're 'in colour'....!
    Whilst you're there, as the Toyota Aygo / Pug 108 and C1 are basically the same car - bar the panels (like you said) - why don't you get the fuses too?

  • @GaryGSF

    iv had one of these as a three door did a full front repair and servicing really easy cars to work on. BTW check the rear taillights for leaks iv had them leak but thankfully repaired under warranty by the dealer. Also the engine diagnosis c and fault codes can be displayed on the infotainment system. Turn key hold the menu button and turn the light stawk to dips three or four times.

  • @neilfairless4589
    @neilfairless4589 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Rob, great little car. They are identical underneath, basically all toyotas with different ligths for the C1 and Pug. Not sure on body panels because of the lights but when i have the wifes C1 serviced, my garage say they are all the same. They use a very specific oil though because of the 3 cylinders.

  • @gavjlewis
    @gavjlewis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Most of the parts are the same between the same cars, only the body panels and lights differ. Only thing is the MK1 C1 and 107 was available with a PSA 1.4 diesel. On the MK2 the C1 and 108 were available with a PSA 1.2 engine. So some different parts on those.
    The Toyota engine (well technically is a Daihatsu design engine) is great and will almost run forever.
    Our C1 has done 178k miles to date.

    I am amazed Copart advertised it like they did to me shocking amount of work which needs to be done. Also Denso is part owned by Toyota. the 107, C1 and Aygo was all built in same plant just panels outside and steering wheel different. Quite lightweight things although still hurts after being driven over by a C1 cycling to work !

  • @richardjones5255
    @richardjones5255 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was a good length, fast-paced with lots of action. What was not to like? The pooling of car production is a manufacturer cost-cutting measure that it would be wise to follow up whenever it can be worked to your advantage. I guess the cut and grounded wire was almost a classic stumble point, obvious - but only once it was found. I'll bet you will look for potential shorts on the next few jobs. This looks like another great video-worthy job. Good content, minimum mess, the odd puzzle to get one thinking and a good result to be achieved.

    Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 & Peugeot 108 used to be made at the same factory, but recently Citroen & Peugeot have pulled out as they are stopping selling C1's & 108's, so it is now just owned by Toyota

    Rob, if the passenger front door panel don’t have broken paint, why not use dent devil or someone to straighten. Have seen them deal with worse.. probably not gonna be too expensive…
    Keep it going mate thoroughly enjoying the channel.. Mark 👍🏻

    The 107, Aygo ans C1 have the same platform. Since 2014 with a new model. Still the same platform. I think crashbar and radiator are all the same.

    That's correct, the Aygo, 108 and C1 are exactly the same and mechanically identical, the difference is the grille, bumper, headlights, taillights and tailgate!

    @darrenwilson8042 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The 108, Aygo and C1 are all made in the same assembly plant in the Czech Republic so the only real differences will be any where there is a manufacturers logo and the "face"

    Your ought to be on commission for the ratchets - I bought one after watching you use it, and it's a good tool. Great little car too, I ran a Citroen C1 for 100k miles and it was small and noisy, but brilliantly reliable and ran for buttons.

    What a coincidence, have just been watching coverage of the BRSCC City Car Cup where they run a race series for early model Aygo, C1, and Peugeot. Might be fun for you guys to find an eligible car, do a race car build, then give it a go in a few races. Motorhome as mobile workshop and/or the transporter to travel to venues. Thank you.

    Hi there.
    Because of you I bought the little ratchet with 2 batteries, and then i bought the Sealey 12V 3/8"Sq Drive Cordless Impact Wrench.
    This is also a smart little tool I would advise You to have a look at.

    Talbot Express, Fiat Ducato, Citroen C25, Peugeot J5 and Alfa Romeo AR6 (Yes there was an A-Class Alfa Romeo commercial Motorhome & pick up among various variants!) all the same badge-engineered on the mark 1 like your camper.
    The Ford Festiva built by Mazda at Ford's request. It's also a Mazda 121 and sold in the UK as a Kia Pride (Rember them whitewall tyres!....lol ). This is the mark 1 version

    Sounds daft, but have a look at new pattern and gen prices for this. I did a bit of work on a mate's daughters one and the parts were pocket money.

    Great stuff, as is most of your content, it's your personality and Chris's knowledge that makes the difference (looks as if Chris is content to you fronting it and leaving it to him to do the dirty work lol) In either case have learnt quite a bit on cars and mechanics from the pair of you.
    The only suggestion I can give to improve it but it wouldn't be possible is when putting up time lapse sections use the music from the end titles from any Benny Hill show, (you know, when he gets chased round by a crowd of people who want to sort him out lol) it'd sure to raise a few smiles, copyright sinks that idea I'm sure!

    All the Citybugs (107/108/Aygo/C1) are the same except for the badges/lights/front bumper/hubcaps and the Aygo fuel flap! Not 100% sure on the wings.
    They're dead easy to work on (pretty good fun to drive in town too) - done one on my channel already and picking up a new one on Monday... :)
