Great stories ..one thing about hunting is the memories and some of the things that happen that are almost unbelievable ..I was fortunate enough to have a uncle that would take me hunting .we become good hunting together over the years as a team ..my uncle had a 44 Ruger carbine that he had since I can remember .and a 30-06 but liked his carbine .I had always told my uncle I wanted his 44 and when my uncle got older and retired he gave me this gun ..since he has passed away ..and ever year at deer hunting time when I get it out .it always brings back memories ..and every now and then when I'm alone hunting with this gun I can feel his presence ,it's as if he was right there with me giving me comfort and advise.. we had a lot of great hunts and tons of great memories and stories .. sometimes it's not about how many or how big the deer are you have shot but the experience of each time in the woods ..love the interview could listen to Lanny all day .
Great job interviewing, asking a question or saying something to bring back a memory of a hunt. Then sitting back and listening without trying to inject your own opinion, or stroke your own ego. Too many people try to interview someone and don’t hardly let them talk. Great job, I really enjoyed it, I could listen to him tell stories all day
Love this man, our group used to be every year from30-48 guys and I started going out with them at the age of 5 by the age 7 I was showing them the runs and trails every season when they would return to hunt. These stories are so great to hear and brings back the best memories of deer camp!
When I was a jr.high school student I remember walking into the library and seeing a picture on the cover of Sports Afield of a man named Larry Benoit . I remember reading that article over and over again fascinated by how he tracked big bucks . A few years later I bought his book How to bag the biggest buck of your life. I used it like a textbook for learning deer hunting.He was a great inspiration to me as a beginning deer hunter
Native Vermonter here I’ve loved hearing all the Benoit stories I’ve even made a trip out to Larry’s final resting spot once when I was over that way work. Anyone have a idea where I could get my hands on their movies? I’d gladly pay even for copies I’d just like to watch it

I've always wanted to hunt like the Benoits hunted, but you just can't do it in the SE US. The parcels of land are small and all private. We have to great public land, but not large enough to track deer the"Benoit Way." If you track a buck in MS for 30 minutes he'll be on someone's posted land and you have to turn around, lol.
Eastern Kentucky here we have the land and mountains but sadly no snow till after the season usually so it's more sneaking and catching them bedded but once you jump one it's nearly impossible to find again unless you know the mountains well and how they use them
Where ever Lanny hunts, the sun sets in the east... no wonder the Benoits get big bucks... they hunt on a different planet. FYI Lanny... the sun sets in the west.
Moon phase talk. This is awesome. Old school stuff. I dont like the moon. I think deer dont like the sun either. It seems like they stop moving at cetain time of day and start moving again. Its like they dont shadows. Remington pump 30-06! My first few deer came with a model 94 30-30 but my first personal deer gun was my model six in 30-06! 150 gr. Hornady superformance! Its like sitting around the camp fire and i just kept saying yup!
My podcast comes out weekly on Sundays, so just sticking to the schedule. I thought about releasing the whole 2 hour video at once, but its a really large file. It's also tough to get people to sit down for 2 hours straight. Thanks for watching!

I thought I heard him say he would head east towards the setting sun...kinda strange to hear such a thing from someone who is apparently such an accomplished tracker, hunter and woodsman.
Isn't technology great?? I've hunted Adirondack Deer for 65 years and never heard of this man! Recently seen vlogs about tracking deer and I'm forced to relate my experience. Only twice have I attempted to track a large buck and both times the same thing happened. Evidently knowing I was behind him the buck would put me in front of him?? About every thirty minutes the buck would make a large uphill loop and stand there and watch me walk by below him. This continued until I got tired of it and gave up. After the second incidence I quit tracking in favor of still hunting/watching! Maybe Adirondack Deer are smarter than Vermont Deer (-:
suburbia guy... has NO clue about real hunting, lol you can tell he has no clue and almost doesn't believe the stories... You can tell those that spend their lives hunting from a tree stand versus those that know deer and go after them.
It's an interviewing technique to draw out more from your subject. Educate yourself! I'd out hunt you in any scenario. Come on up and put your money where your mouth is!

I have a Remington 750 Carbine 30-06 and my son has a 7600 Carbine 30-06, great rifles. Someday I'd like to find a 7600 280 Rem.

Quick question. When Mr. Benoit references the weights of his bucks, is that live on the hoof, or dressed weight?
