The roof will not retract if there are items in the cargo area that will interfere with it. That's why there's a small lid that comes down over your packages/luggage. As long as your stuff is within that defined space, the roof will retract and there will not be any interference.
I have this car but 2013 m sport model 6 speed. I put in a jb4 with stage 2 map, a 8 inch front mount intercooler, afe air intake and vrsf catless downpipe.. this thing flys!!! The 2.0 version isn't as bad. Would I have gotten the 35i manual with the n54? Hell yeah but the 2.0 turbo isn't that bad either
I think it's great, personally. The inline sixes are great, smooth and powerful. The turbo fours are punchy and like to rev. I'm excited to see what else comes from these engines.

Today manufacturers suggest 0W20? To push oil through small cavities you need higher compression which is created with higher viscosity oil.) regardless the car not only gets improved handling but also you get a Euro sports car easy on the wallet at the gas station. Something rarely seen. And still looks as good as ever. And working on the motor should be an easier job with the 4 cylinder.Interesting combination.

@blaziankhmer Yah everyone gets a hard on for RWD...........I live in Michigan and couldnt offord a winter beater............so FWD is a good thing......besides it puts out more horses and more torque than the B-body model......soooo whats wrong with "front drive"?

Actually, it's pretty much the opposite of an S2000 engine. The engine in this BMW is turbocharged and makes a shitload of low-end torque. The S2000 engine is naturally aspirated and doesn't make any torque at all.
If you buy this car to drag race it, you're completely missing the point. The car is far from a slug and has all the power anyone could ever need on the street.
Doesn't matter what power that engine produces since GM decided to put their ancient 4 speed auto in that car. 5 speed automatics have been used for well over a decade at that point and ZF developed a 6 speed auto for 2002. A 5 speed auto would have made way better power of that SS engine.
I love the BMW brand...........but this is sad...........my stock impala ss could beat this car. More horses, more torque and faster launch time...............Im not dissing the bmw brand.......but if i pull up to a z4 ...............i expect to loose

@willowcairns yea but the bmw has 255ft lbs torque and that torque comes much much much earlier than the s2000.

@rrfa5cy The S2000 was not making anywhere that amount of torque, granted it was naturally aspirated and had a more race inspired redline.

This car is still faster than the new Civic Type R in 0-60 and the quarter mile and this z4 is the lowest grade model with the 4 cylinders
