I wouldn’t say that he’s a Mephistopheles character as much as he is the accuser. He might be the devil and he might be able to grant monkeys paw wishes but he’s closer to the dime novel idea of Satan/the accuser.
The story of Faust was a popular play in theaters around the Wild West. It is also portrayed in the film Tombstone, about Wyatt Earp and his brothers in Tombstone, Arizona.
It’s only just dawned on me now that the strange man is just Rockstar/ the honour system. He’s the one judging us, “an accountant” if you will. Tallying up the Low honour and high honour deeds. He even gives us some opportunities to redeem our honour with the encounters. Then obviously I’m RDR2 we get a different ending dependent on honour.
What a cracking vid again Phil!..must have taken you hours to put that one together. Really enjoyed it. Ive always thought the Strange Man was the devil himself personally but seeing all the different theories does make you wonder. Whoever he is you done him proud ..brill vid as always thank you for the work you do much love x
Nice vid! I'd like to play RDR (1) but guess I'm kinda holding on for a remastered version, having been introduced to these characters through the beauty of RDR2
The way the strange man says it, “why would you remember me, you forgotten far more important people than me” could he be referring to a deal John might have made; like moon. Could be never really know. Part 3 lol
Hello, subscribers, I'm a fan and you have to put as many comments as possible to reference Feelbee's videos, Soon Red Dead 3 will be there and this channel must be one of the channels presented first. least of the things to be done to reward this monumental work.
I'm still stuck on how Trelawny looks exactly like The Strange Man... I don't care what anyone says, it's not just a Saint Denis style, with a long coat and top hat, even the fancy mustache... Their facial structures are literally the same, The Strange Man's face is just darker than Trelawny's... If you can't see the uncanny resemblance, then you're willfully stupid... With all the fictional and supernatural things going on, I wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of dimensional relation... 🤔
Who is strange man's son? Is it Trelawny? Did strange man know so much about the gang because Trelawny told him? Strange man, being immune to bullets, is clearly supernatural at that point in the story. When did he become supernatural? Sometime during the story, or was it before? What historical legends or literary works speak of a supernatural being and his son that Rock Star might be drawing ideas from? Strange man admires John. He gives two reasons: John kills people so easily, and John respects the vows of marriage. Then he says, "that's very curious." Is John's moral dichotomy what he finds curious, or is he admitting his own admiration of John is that which is very curious? Strange man knows the future. How? Knowing the future, why does he hope his boy turns out just like John? He also says this right after noting that John is a man who decides right & wrong between a man & death, between a man & his wife. Why does strange man think Haddie MacCort is "far more important" than himself? Is she the missing princess Isabeau? Dutch killed her and nobody seems to know why. It is implied by gang members that he had some nefarious purposeful reason for doing it, but all of them seem confused by it. Is this reason the venom in the black water? He repeats the deed later in the story with another girl. Was strange man Haddie's father? Killed in Blackwater along with her, and possibly his whole family except for his boy? Is he a troubled spirit manipulating John into agreeing to hunt down Dutch later in order to exact a revenge he is no longer capable of carrying out himself? Strange man might not exist. What if he is a representation of John's guilty conscious manifested as a vision in John' mind and presented as a person, a literary device to depict the conflict going on in John's head? The cabin was all John's doing. John spent two years away from the gang in an undisclosed location. John is Jekyll & Hyde. His story is Yin/Yang. He's a dual personality.
It is based on Mephistopheles, the grim reaper, and the Dibbuk. I also recommend that you learn about the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the painter Austin Osman Spare and Aleister Crowley. Trelawny may be a representation of Crowley and the protagonist of the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. And Jimmy Brooks may be a representation of the painters James Brook and Austin Osman Spare.
Aww. I really appreciate the pace and timbre of Filbee Gaming's narration! But full disclosure: I'm geographically just an hour or so from where his accent emanates, so maybe I have home advantage compared a the wider world audience. Keep watching and listening - you'll get your ear in 👍
The strange man is death! The view in the mirror is symbolic! Death being right behind him and as we know John’s ultimate fate!

Who would Rockstar's and the honor system's "boy" be?

Thank you Kat! I'm glad you enjoyed. Yeah, that definitely took some time to put together for sure
In fact that portrait was behind Herbert Moon the grocer as well!
Could be symbolic as well
He is Death. Simple as that. 💀
Possibly JP
Death doesn't make deals with people.

Thanks YTC
I just played it with Xenia emulator at 60 FPS. Already looks great that way. I dont expect a remaster to come for decades.
He is that same being who Avenged Sevenfold recognizes as the shepherd of fire.
Pandemic means the whole country or world is affected, Epidemic is the word you're looking for here to refer to a single town
You can shoot any windows/bottles etc and they will always return/renew a few days later

I will still and always say the strange man is our guilty conscience in the game. Kindve playing devil advocate

I think it was pretty obvious that he was a personification of Death…
You and STRANGE MAN channel are the only ones i see🎉😊
Gosh dang it, Filibuster...
I think he was meant to be a visage of Death the Grim Reaper

Kind of adds to the speculation of why he keeps disappearing an reapearring
@@FilbeeGaming It is possible that it is a reference to Edward Trelawny, Alister Crowley and/or Austin Osman Spare.
@@86canario95 Possibly, I've been told of the Osman one before
@@FilbeeGaming Trelawny horse is named Gwydion, a famous wizard from English mythology.
And the nun Calderón is based on Chikaba.
Excellent. I've got to do a second video on the gang horses
Moon's son-in-law is the same race, just not the same specific ethnicity/religion.
Back then Jewish people where not considered white.
Mate you put some seriously research hours in on these videos, and it shows in the quality 👍👍
Thanks GD, I'll admit, that one took a good few days to put together from start to finish
@@FilbeeGaming I bet it did great stuff as always though 👍👍
@@CJGAMES4202 Thanks brother
Never seen you show that first hut before.... 😁
It's the first time I've done a Strange Man video
He is an angel, or a demon.
It's "from the snow to the cave", not grave.
What if the stranger is Jack?

Which?
