Interesting. I think you can ask the owner to replace the small refrig with a larger one. Pretty inexpensive these days anyway.

you can get a mini freezer from Taobao which i believe is definitely saving the money comparing to the rent

If u work near lujiazui Pudong, u can choose hongkou area, near pudong, convenient and fast by subway but much cheaper than jianan and lujiazui.

You DO NOT want a ground floor appartment or even 2nd floor in Shanghai. Take 3rd floor and up. Cockroaches, humidity, etc....
