This made me realize I'm so spoiled...Chongqing has ruined me. I'm like that 3,700 for thaaat?! So much better to start in an expensive city and not the other way around 😂 You already know the 37th floor was my fave!
And here in Norway youd be paying 800$ at least for a 40m² basement without furniture. Any of these appartments in the video would run you over $2000 here.
The climate in Chengdu is very humid, the owner of houses generally do not prepare thick mattresses because the waiting process for rent takes a long time. In uninhabited appartments, mattresses are prone to mold. That's why you can only see thin mattresses everywhere@@AleeseLightyear
The sink on the back of the toilet is an actual thing in most Japanese homes. It’s a really cool concept. You wash your hands and the grey (used) water becomes the toilet water. Unfortunately, in that first apartment there was no full sink in the vicinity of the bathroom.
Not only japan , it's pretty normal in many countries, you need to wash ur hand after you are done doing your business ,so it's more convenient and cleaner than going all the way to sink ,I was surprised that she has never seen one living for so long in China
@@fatisummer9106 I also love the concept. However, it is not a U.S cultural norm. I think the TH-camr is from the U.S, so she is basing her likes on her own experiences (what she grew up with). Getting used to cultural norms is nuanced, some things are just not going to fly, LOL
I absolutely loved #2 and #7, for me I’m very minimalistic , as long as everything works I’m happy. Mattresses and bed frames can easily be purchased, and being in my ideal location is what matters the most to me. 😌
Furniture and fixtures are relatively inexpensive. So you can either ask the landlord for free upgrades and replace them by yourself. For example the bed and mattress would cost less than the monthly rent.
Very true! But I really am not trying to buy any furniture or make any big adjustments to an apartment. I already did that 2 years ago with my last apartment. Now I just want a place to be move in ready!
Good luck for your apartment hunting in Chengdu! When I visited Chengdu last month, the DiDi driver told me Chengdu is the most affordable city that he's ever been after living in Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou for quite some time-in terms of housing, food expenses, convenience, etc.
Is this your first time to China? The washing machine on the balcony is very common. Mattress’s are always very thin compared to West. I lived in China for 10 years. The same apartment the entire time. I loved it !! Get a bicycle and explore !!!
i do think its weird since the sink is place in an awkward spot literally on the toilet. it could have been designed better for sole purpose of improvement
Good luck on your search. Hope you find your dream apartment. Though the prices seem affordable in parts of China I am thankful I can pay cash for my condo in the sunshine ☀ state. Modern renovated and furnished. And in unit washer dryer. Even came with detergent towels and dishes cups and glasses. Silverware too.
i am a small landlord in a small coastal city in the US. I put a room on craiglist and it is gone quickly. The size is about 125 square feet, shared bath, kitchen, etc. The rent is $700. Guess my tenant would shoot me if they know that you can get such a spacious apartment in a big city in China for the price they pay for a small room.😂😂
Never easy to look for a place. But the prices are so so low compared to Toronto. Our average rent in Toronto for a one bedroom is a crazy 2500 Canadian that's about 2Gs USD 😮😮😮😮
I have seen that type of toilet plus sink in a bar in the US. It uses the water that washed your hands to flush the toilet. Pretty cool and environmentally friendly.
I hope you've already found your apt. Everyone is talking about how Chengdu is great place, affordable prices, endless delicious food and laidback locals. 😀
Damn! That last one was gorgeous! Looooove the kitchen with that island WOW. But that bedroom furniture and curtains have GOT TO GO 😅😅😅 Can’t wait to see what you ended up with
Just find a temporary one. You can always find a better one after you settle down in a new city. Some property/apartment management comapnies, such as Ziroom, would offer more decent options than the individual agent can provide.
The amount that you are paying for a month over there, there's not much to complain about. If it was more than $1000, then I would have some stuff to say.
The way you talk is alwaysss, so so fun!!! In a good way! When you commented at those ugly furniture🤣🤣🤣you always make me smile🤣 can't wait for episode 2😂💞💞💖💖
Aleese when I saw the sink and toilet combo, I hollered. 😮😅 You are my shero. This reminded me of House Hunters International 😂! Apartment hunting can be SPECIAL, but I am believing you will find the BEST fit for you! Tfs
haha NICE Chinese background Australian here. I watched a couple of your videos and I got the feeling u will end up in my home town Chengdu. welcome to China Expat life 2.0, it's almost like a natural progression the people end up moving to Chengdu after staying in Beijing or Shanghai for a couple of years. I'm also returning to Chengdu from Australia after more than a decade of not living in China. all my expat friends in chengdu were gone after covid, tho still feeling the excitement and look forward to meet new people!
Before moving to or visiting another country, research. How people live, what's appropriate and inappropriate. Idk, maybe it's just me, but it's embarrassing to see Americans go to other countries and insult/question the way life is there or call something weird. As if the way we live makes a lot of sense😅.
The tiny sink for you washing hand s after using the toilet only. 😂 you also can see those in Japan. The actual big sink area is separated with the toilet.
personally, I wouldn't recommend an apartment that's higher than 10 floors. Because when an earthquake hits, that's scary as hell😅 not that the building will collapse, it's just a terrifying experience
I admire your adventurous spirit. It’s one thing to move to Europe. Moving to China is waaaaay different. Hats off to you for teaching. Enjoy your journey young lady.
You're one person, how big does the fridge need to be? geez. And be a little less picky, aren't you going to b homeless? You can always move again at a later date :) Course this is old now, heh
Wow, a lot of things you complain about are pretty standard if you watch any Chinese videos. Especially the ones where it's clear everyone renovated their apartments. Just very negative. I was going to see a lot of variety, but the commentary just ruined it
All those first few apartments were hideous and nasty looking. How could you even consider wanting to live in them. Apartments 7 and 8 would have worked out and the rent seemed reasonable even they weren’t that posh or luxurious but a step up from those other apartments you started off looking at. I hope it works out for you.
This is my hint that I don’t need to watch these videos. 😂 The amount of complaints and unwillingness to make concessions irked my soul. Very western mindset in the middle of China. 😂
The water from washing your hands is used to flush the toilet, so it saves water
I guess that makes sense, but then why put a whole other sink outside the bathroom that doesn't do that?!
the combined sink and toilet is pretty common in Japan, it's to safe water usage and also space.
They are common all of the world
I love seeing apartment hunting vids in the second tier cities in China, you get the benefits of (sometimes huge) cities with the rents of small towns
I thought I was the only one 🤣🤣
TOTALLY AGREE!!
Aleese is back in China, congrats 🎉
This made me realize I'm so spoiled...Chongqing has ruined me. I'm like that 3,700 for thaaat?! So much better to start in an expensive city and not the other way around 😂 You already know the 37th floor was my fave!
haaaaa
Meanwhile I'm having reverse stick shock cus it's soooo much cheaper than Beijing!
you’ll be surprised what you can find with 3700 in Shanghai, its barely livable to me 😂
These prices are insanely good. I’m about to move to China.
RIGHT! Very affordable!
And here in Norway youd be paying 800$ at least for a 40m² basement without furniture. Any of these appartments in the video would run you over $2000 here.
I was thinking the same until the part where they needed to ask if a “foreigner” can live there. Like WTH!
Nope I would never live in China. Japan yes definitely.
Apartment hunting videos in other countries are always so fun. Thanks for sharing, I can't wait for part two!
Dropping on Sunday!

the last apartment is so nice, the big windows are really nice
This was like a real life episode of house hunters international and I’m here for it! 😍
hahahah it truly is exactly that!

Great concept. Just not for me lol
The Japanese models are a little bigger, but I'm proud to see Chinese person to give credit to Japan for something 🎉

You are quite a rude person, the people who showed you these places are probably thinking why did I put in this effort to show this person around.
🤔🤔
I unironically loved the gaudy princess bed and curtains 😂 It’s not really my personal style but I could get acclimated to it lol
hahahah

Honey, I live in a 5th wheel camper and even I have a proper bathroom sink! The bathroom is quite roomy actually!
Chengdu seems to have lots of good options for the prices! Can't wait to see where you end up! 😃
The prices were amazing! I wish they were this price in the US!
check the fire safety procedures! especially on the apartments on the higher floors.
Good tip!
Is this your first time to China? The washing machine on the balcony is very common. Mattress’s are always very thin compared to West. I lived in China for 10 years. The same apartment the entire time. I loved it !! Get a bicycle and explore !!!
The only apartment i liked was the last one 👍🏼 wish you the best ✊
It's not easy!!
Thats a japanese style combo sink and toilet. The sink is for washing hands. The greywater fills the toilet tank. Saves water.
Nice and cool video and respect and that seems really cheap for you living in China
Aleese that small tap toilet combo is common in Tokyo Japan.. its saved water.. its just to wash your hands.. I think its cool..
Never seen it before!

You should be on HGTV house hunters. I liked apartment #7 & #8.
I hope you've already found your apt.

You'll have to stay tuned for Sunday's video!
Can you not view unfurnished apartments? I don't think I could use any furniture used by previous tenants...

Welcome back to China
Thanks! Good to be back, I guess lol
I live in Guangdong and have been considering a move to Chengdu!
Well maybe more of the Chengdu content I put out will convince more
The amount that you are paying for a month over there, there's not much to complain about. If it was more than $1000, then I would have some stuff to say.
It's all relative my friend. Regardless of how much I'm paying, I don't want a bunch of useless items in the apartment that will never get used.
2nd apartment at least he was honest when he said this bed is no no 😂😂😂😂😂 it made me laugh soo much 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Buy your own beds. Nice large apartment. Don't be so picky.
Good luck to your new life in Chengdu! The real challenge would be the vast food options there to remain fit and healthy 😂
Any food suggestions?!
Your standards are high babe but you always get the best results since you are the best 😊
hahahaha I think my standards are pretty reasonable!! You'll have to watch this weekend's video to see what apartment I get!

The amount of ppl in the comments trying to convince me that the sink toilet combo thing was normal, blew my mind. NEVER!

your old apartment was amazing wow. they would've had to drag me out of there lmao.
It was sooooo perfect. I miss it so much!
6 min the fridge w 3 sections is to safe energy,,dont need to open all fridge just one drawer at a time
Thanks, I know how to use a fridge
The last apartment with the open kitchen was my favorite. But probably too expensive. Whats your budget?
Aleese, you are awesome! Love your personality 🎉
Awwww I appreciate you saying that! Thank you so much!!🥰🥰

Glad you are of BJ to Chengdu! Personally, Chengdu is more fun. Good luck on your apt hunting.
Really?! the adjustment hasn't been easy for me!!
Im thinkin' the renter is supposed to buy their own mattress.
You're rude. You clearly see the agent understands English, yet you don't even mince your words when you comment about the room you visit.
personally, I wouldn't recommend an apartment that's higher than 10 floors. Because when an earthquake hits, that's scary as hell😅 not that the building will collapse, it's just a terrifying experience
toilet with sink is quite nomal in japan
New subscriber here, I want to experience your life there😊 through you❤❤❤❤
In US it costs you $500 just to rent all the furnitures.
FACTS!
Not the prison style toilet and sink in the first one!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope you've already found the apartment cause it's Monday now 😅 as always, entertaining ❤🎉
I did!
you are so happy
I like the one on 8th floor
Oh boy here we go again.....
I like 7 but #4 got me with the big bedroom. I would've had to spend money on a mattress. lol *coming back #8 it is!! 😆

Cool video but camera is moving too fast.
Oh wow pretty affordable. I guess bases on city.
Most definitely. A one bedroom in Beijing is double the price of a Chengdu two bedroom!
for $3300 hkd you can get a coffin home in hong kong lol. so interesting to see the rent disparity
