    I use safety stop before adding to QT and again when moving from QT to DT and so far it has been amazing. I am sure you know what you are doing and if that works for you it’s great. I wish you all the success with this build and like you said for future upgrade build.👌👏

    Is it normal for them to lay at the bottom when first entering the tank? They are two clown fish

    I would change the Hanna salinity checker to read ppt. I prefer to read ppt than the broader sg reading. What type of urchin is that? Is it still alive? I have never kept a sea urchin but I do know that many of them are very efficient at eating coralline algae. It surprises me that the lfs sold you that many fish to go into a new system all at once?

    everybody should check out Safety Stop at least if you don't have a quarantine system 1-hour quarantine👍

    Hi I have been following this great series with interest as I am very new to the hobby, I was wondering what your view on water changes was, there seems to be conflicting information from 10% weekly to none as long as your water parameters are ok. Keep up the good work

    • @eatsleepreef9565
      @eatsleepreef9565  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Water changes depends on tank nutrients as well as main level parameter consumption. Personally this tank will be doing the triton method meaning no water changes

    Nice selection of fish bro. Only thing I might do when acclimating them in the bags is dim down the lights the first few hours so it doesn’t provide any undo stress on them.

    "It had ICH and after feeding alot and giving them garlic it's just gone!"
    Sigh...
    Misdiagnosing iCH is super common, maybe it was just some flukes or wounds from the tang aggression that we see clearly.
    If it is not misdiagnosed, then no, it's not gone away, it's still there...

    • @turnerdischinger6365
      @turnerdischinger6365 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think he misdiagnosed. Ich is still there and he might know that but for the time being the fish have become resistant to it

    • @TattooedDancer91
      @TattooedDancer91 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@turnerdischinger6365 You have absolutely no validation to that claim. There are no pictures of it, there's nothing, only this anecdotal "evidence" that people seem to hold so dearly above confirmed science. Just because the ICH parasites have entered into a protomontic stage, doesn't mean the fish are resistant either. TH-camrs serving up "guides and tips for beginners" and downplaying this issue of fish diseases and quarantine procedures does not give any benefits to this society. We of all people should care about giving the fish their best chances in order to be sustainable enough to maintain this hobby in the future.

    • @turnerdischinger6365
      @turnerdischinger6365 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TattooedDancer91 that is not what I’m saying. I’m saying there will still be ich present but the fish will not necessarily die from it. If it become stressed, than the ich will come in and appear again. I quarantine and just finished a tank transfer method so as you can see, I’m taking precautions to avoid it

    • @TattooedDancer91
      @TattooedDancer91 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@turnerdischinger6365 No you're saying you're trusting his own diagnosis. It's too easy tos ay "I had ICH, it went away" when sure, something might have been there, but to say it was actually the dreaded fish killing parasite and it just went away like that downplays the effect it can have. :) happy new year

    Learn to qt ALL YOUR FISH! Should qt all livestock especially if your planning to do a reef. If you end up with a parasite outbreak your going to have to qt AND GO FALOW for 90 days. Thats a huge back step

    • @TattooedDancer91
      @TattooedDancer91 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? Are the fish seperated? Can they infect each other? Did he cycle it with fish? Can he easily treat diseases?

    • @kenziyt3912
      @kenziyt3912 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TattooedDancer91 yes he cycled it with mollys but he took them out before putting these fish in. So that makes this tank basically a quarantine. So if something breaks out then he can just treat the tank and its not huge so it wouldnt be costly. Any new fish after these obviously this wont apply because then he would be treating healthy fish.

    • @TattooedDancer91
      @TattooedDancer91 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kenziyt3912 No. parasites and diseases can stay in the water column for a long time, even without fish. ICH takes 6 weeks to kill by starvation by going fallow for example. If he treats the tank, his clean up crew, pod population and invertebrates in general will die. His rocks and sand will absorb the chemicals and make them useless and coral killing in the future. So no, it's not that simple.

    • @kenziyt3912
