Ashar Alo Girls Residential Child Care Centre

HOPE’s first protection home was set up in Panditiya Place, Kolkata in 1999. Due to the increasing number of girls needing care and protection a new home was established in Kolkata in March 2015 called Ashar Alo (Light of Hope) Residential Child Care Centre. The girls previously residing in Panditya Girls Home and Howrah SEED Girls Home moved to their new home in March 2015.
Aim and objectives
The aim of the project is to contribute to the overall growth and development of high risk children in Kolkata by providing care, education, nutrition, healthcare, counselling and other necessary support.
The objectives are:
• Ensuring Children in Need of Care and Protection have access to safe protective shelter until they reach the age of 18 and the successful social integration of children within the family, where appropriate.
• Ensuring the children have access to quality mainstream education
• Ensuring the improved physical and mental health of all children
• Ensuring improved personal wellbeing of the children through recreational support and cultural development.
• Reuniting children with their families where appropriate, and supporting their education as a primary focus.
