Probably when he was 12 she had no idea he was international pro meterial or that there was such a " life" "It his his life not mine" she is sticking to tradition
Him explaining the myth of the dude ollieing that gap to the street is funny and great. When you hear stuff like that as a kid, you believe it, and I think it makes you a better skater for trying to replicate it.
I love this SOOOOO much. I saw this years ago, its been stuck in my mind but I forgot what it was called and who it was by. I just found it again and Im happy. This is a special little segment. Rocks. Thank you!
Almost all these successful skaters (or people in general in certain way) have such supportive parents man. To me thats amazing to see, and kinda painful since I had the complete opposite.
We see some who come from bad homes, but a lot of times those are the guys with drug problems or the ones who get in fights with their sponsors and such. It’s tough having no one you can trust to teach you about the world.
@@HonkeyKong54 the ones that are living in a safe/privileged way. (Not talking about punk rock thug life dudes..who are the best btw and have the best style are -like with any other art etc- dysfunctional in life.) Also divorced parents doesnt mean you dont have support.
I like how he's like "I skated these stairs once... No wait, actually we skated them every single day and tried all our tricks down them." Jerry's pretty cool.
I think that golf land arcade in the begining of the video was the same golfland i used to go to as a kid he also skated some benches at my elementary school
Skate knobs were created by a former skater turned traitor from SD. I met some old school guys at the Coronado park and that was one of many topics discussed. I used to remember the non skate rat's name.
What's the video where they do the asia tour and I remember they go to Russia also?? The one he talks about in here. I had a copy of that but I can't remember what it is..
Wow his mom is one of a kind.. that’s awesome that she encouraged his skating career. What a wonderful woman.

I love how honest he is, he doesn't try to put his first few years skating in such a positive light like I see so many people doing.

To be fair the idea is as old as street skating, he was just smart/sleazy enough to make it into a business.
that rail is right across the street from kinkos on blossom hill rd
I grew up here at the same time as Stevie Cab
those masks remind me of the ones worn in the movie gummo
Osirus Storm was my intro to Jerry

Bret Harte, Gunderson, Lee, Lil Orchard, all sick spots in SJ ...but Golfland? thats pretty epic.
