Well said bro. 😎 It’s insane how many pro skaters transition into art, 🖼️ considering Skateboarding is an Art more similar to Martial Arts 🥋. It’s a sport more like how Playing Golf ⛳️ is a sport. It’s technically a sport/ art form that allows you to express your creativity through a medium that requires athletic performance and ability. The more I get into Fighting and Martial Arts as a Hobby, I see so many similarities between Karate /Martial Arts🥋 and Skateboarding
Garry, here’s a newsflash bud. Honestly, a lot of people who skateboard can articulate their thoughts in a meaningful way. What a strange thing to say.
@@vico805 sick for sure, the top idk that’s option based, can’t deny The “Real”team or “Primative” is the most stacked team by far. Can’t deny Baker/Deathwish “Pedro and Jamie and Tfunk” Holding Down the Baker Boys crew. April has a good team too.
This video has made me feel resonated with a like minded soul that views creative outputs as things that require the right appreciation and neeed time to breath. All the things he said were real.
As a native New Yorker that grew up skating and ended up writing graffiti later on in life I truly appreciate this channel and what you guys are doing I gotta get back on the patreon you guys hooked it up every month with some goodies 🤝
Jerry sounds so level and rad, epitomised by him saying how honestly he struggles with commerce/art practice etc.. i don't know old he is but i'm 46 and only in the past few years its clicked for me that having an art practice that has no commercial intent and a separate business that's meant to be creative but in reality has to make money is the only way i've found a bit of mental peace!! I guess he has the same with his fine art/photography and Sci-Fi fulfilling both needs...
I really respect how the interviewer redirects the attention away from himself elegantly even when the guest pushes it that way, it seems like he understands his role and and his craft without wanting to be the "star" (like the many of the famous podcasters
Just stay off of the slap message boards, dude. You don't want to be around those people or absorb their type of belief system. They're the loudest minority and shouldn't be taken seriously. Unless you think being a 40 year old shitlib is somehow "cool."
I definitely thought Sci-Fi was going to fall off after a few seasons but kudos to Jerry he has created something that is super unique and fresh and keeps me coming back every time he puts something out.
Almost had the chance to meet him at Emerica’s Wild in The Streets event in Downtown Det in 2010s, he was hiding in the Tour Van the whole time cause I feel like he doesn’t like the big crowds vs the other Pros on the team came out and shredded/took pics with everyone. Still one of my favorites, all Love to you Jerry Hsu🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 I still have my shredded Hsu Highs just for memories
I have a feeling jerry struggles real hard with depression from so many blows to the head over the years. I hope nothing but good things for him. Take care jerry we love you.
You controll a skater but you don't have to controll a skate company as much so that's probably a larger difference than filming until finishing a part
tbh... they talk about nothing the whole time. like it feels nobody really knows what to talk about. "the internet is different from the time before, but for ME it is like idk, eh uhm, idk i do not really know how to describe it. it depends where you are in life, yeah. it is true. sick. now is different, but not really. it is good and bad." bruh
It's so cool to witness Jerry evolving from this young skateboard prodigy into this creative and really down-to-earth art director. Long lives Sci-fi.
really fucking sick cause you know how pros just disappear into normality

Jerry Hsu is a renaissance man. Jerry - you should record philosophy like Alan Watts. The people will listen. Great stuff.
Jerry is just so damn likeable

Jerry lived near me in sj as a kid he was really fruity..
Yo I’m ngl please try to improve the tone of your interviews, they often sound very dry and boring!
Not to me man, they sound level and with integrity... horses for courses
I think you need the nine club.
okay you do the interviews then bro 😅
I heard “like” about 2,000 times in this interview. WTF
He’s a skateboarder and a photographer, not a public speaker. Get over yourself
Thank you/ @livingproofnewyork
