This was a beautiful reaction, Loveth. I could feel your reaction even during the song. It brought tears to my eyes as well. I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. May his memory always be for a blessing. 🙏💔💖

I've watched 6 reactions to this song and yes, if you've lost a brother, it really hits the heart. I lost two - 2013 & 2020. Along with a sister in 2018, mum in 2019 and dad in 2020 - a month before my brother. Beautiful reaction and my condolences for your loss and everyone else who has lost a brother.

Please don't underestimate the meaning of this song. It's an anthem of unity which was sung at a time of divisive racism and politics. A very powerful song of my youth.

If you ever visit Boys Town (Now Boys and Girls Town) in Omaha, Nebraska, you'll see where this song came from. Years ago a boy was carrying his crippled younger brother up some stairs and was asked by the priest there if he needed help. His answer was the title to this song. Our family visited there some years ago on the eve of Thanksgiving. We attended a church service along with almost a thousand of the boys and girls who lived there. They had several of them get up and say what they were thankful for. One girl was saying how she felt for the first time that she had a family. She started to cry and there was not a dry eye amongst us. They do such good work there. This song always gets to me. Great reaction.

Written in 1969 by Bobby Scott (music) and Bob Russell (lyrics), when Mr. Russell (1914-1970) was dying of lymphoma. Elton John was the session pianist for the Hollies' recording. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction, and my deepest sympathies for the loss of your brother.

    Ty.👌
Kelly Gordon's original, which was best known by the British band The Hollies in 1969.
For Joe Cocker the song was suggested before The Hollies, however he rejected the recording.
The great band i thought was overshadowed By The Beatles.
Hits too: 👀Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe.👀 The instrument is a harmonica not a flute.=)

My deepest condolences to you Loveth and your family on the loss of your brother. I nearly lost my older brother 2 years ago. He broke his neck and was initially paralyzed from the neck down. Subsequent surgeries and 2 years of physical therapy has allowed him to begin to regain abilities we never dreamed possible. Feeding himself and walking with a walker to name a few. I heard this song 2 days after his accident and vowed to never complain about anything again. His battle to regain his life has been inspirational to all of his family and friends. When it is necessary to carry him I do so without hesitation because, well.. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother. Wishing you continued success with your channel, RNB

Beautiful reaction to one of the most beautiful songs ever to be sung on the Earth. That instrument is not called a flute, though, but a harmonica...and it was hauntingly beautiful. I know of no better harmonica part than this. That place where he takes the lower note than the expected higher note was the piece de resistance, for me. It should be a world anthem, and we should all treat each other like this, instead of building walls against each other.

This song was not about any particular brother but about the brotherhood of man because we are all brothers and sisters in this world and need to be there for each other when others are in need of support. The instrument that the singer was playing was a harmonica.

Watching the great Allan Clarke and this wonderful band hit you emotionally 50+ years after it was written was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. You are so beautiful but watching the emotions spill over in your expressions was just so so so lovely. I love the Hollies, one of the most influential bands I grew up with. ❤

You'll never see that kind of emotion from her listening to a rap song. Resurrecting these old tunes from the 60's and 70's may very well be what saves us.

  • @jamesnash6101

It's a harmonica not a flute. This is the issue that I have with today's audiences listening to current music. You don't see real musicians playing real instruments. So, if you're going to do a reaction, do a little homework first. Because when you talk about something that you know nothing about, you belittle us both.
