I just started riding 6 months ago and this was the first bike I got. I was a little intimidated by the size and power at first but it really doesn't feel as big or as heavy as it is. This bike carries its weight beautifully and that engine is superb! Its an 07 and had about 14,000 miles when I got it. I've already put 9,000 miles on it and it still runs beautifully at 23,000. I'm so glad I decided to get this big cruiser rather than the more common "beginner" bikes, that decision kept me from having to upgrade from a smaller bike to what I have now. Hopefully ill still be riding my Stratoliner for many more years to come :)

J.Michael B. I have owned a 98 Royal Star Tour Deluxe for 2 yrs now. Its a V4 so is a way different beast than this V twin. BOTH are good at 2 up. If you want to do alot of interstate, try the VENTURE which is the RSTD on STEROIDS with ALL the comforts one could want. But may be a bit HEAVY and Burdensome for commuting in city. All 3 bikes are PIGS and not nimble for slow turning. GREAT for Hiway and cruising. The Strat is a Longer bike. I'm 6'6". My RSTD stock seats are made for shorter people ??? I'm too close to the tank. So after market seats put me back better. But it's a Big heavy bike. Very high revving and likes it that way. Not like a Vtwin at all. Its a Beautiful bike. We are now also buying a 2006 Stratoliner. Also a Large-LONG bike. For me, it fits way better. There is more bike out front. And it is a Beauty. Its alot more " SWOOPY" is what I call it. My RSTD is more "Muscly" feeling. Not ridden the STRAT yet but sat on a few . We scored a great deal online so hope it looks like the photo. Only 10,000 miles on it so was my 98 RSTD when I got it. BOTH should run 200K mls if properly taken care of. They are BOTH, Works of Art and people who have either bike, swear by them. Really depends on how CURVY and SPACEY ya want your bike to be. Either is a good choice and either are CHEEEEEEAP now. You can get a Great Bike with under 25,000 mls for under $5,000. - $7,000. To hell with them HARLEY's ! Lastly, aint nuthin like taking your time and checking both out. I'd see if a local dealer has one to try on. But buy private. You'll pay at least $2,000. more at a dealer. Hope that helped. Would the v4 be working harder at 70-75?
ALSO : Check out the Yamaha Pages on Face Book - dedicated to either bike . There are several and the folks on them are very helpful and knowledgeable. WINTER is Great time for cheap bikes. Save a grand or 2 . GOOD LUCK !
@@johnbrockafeller thanks for great info. Yes, I'm sold. I have aBMW 2018 RT1200. Awesome bike. But I want to pick up a big cruiser. Thought I wanted a Harley till I rode one. I kno I would love one of the Japanese knockoffs (for lack of a better term) ...think I'm headed in the correct direction. Fk "peer pressure". I've always said "the masses are asses." No offense. Perhaps stubborn? Ignorant? Your ego is NOT your amigo🤣😭
What? My stratoliner smokes my dads VTX....
DarthJenki Is his vtx a 1300 or an 1800?
Sounds like one cylinder is low on compression compared to the other.
I have a Raider...which is close...never be too much.....!!!!!!!!!!
It's a shit ton faster than a vstar 1300 lol. Your clutch is prob weak and needs strong spring. Tach is not digital. Meter assembly is $1100.
I know its an old video but how many Strat owners experienced the dreaded 3rd gear failure
3rd gear failure? What exactly do you mean? I haven't heard about it and I'm looking at this bike right now. Thank you.
@@EEEBA1Do little search its pretty common.Problem is when it happens its 3-4k job total engine case split ect.Use google and go to forums. Its manufacturing defect.
Odometer runs off speedo not tacho
why not a beginner bike for a big guy?
TAC never registers the odometer
Is this bike a lot bigger then the V star 1100? What are common issue's with this bike? And how does it handle compared to it's ligther brothers
It is a decent bit bigger, i went from a 1100 to the roadliner (same bike) and it has a lot more weight to it, but the power is just amazing. My brother and I made a 200 Mile trip (he has a 2016 HD Fatboy) and i could keep up with him just fine. Also they sound amazing.
But the roadliner handles like a much smaller bike - very nimble.
@@jonwestover4243 ahhh, you meant to say the Fat Boy could almost keep up with the Strat, didn't you? Almost.
speedometer isn't working
This engine love running at 2,500+ all day long.
If the speedometer isn't working then the milage won't be right
I will own a Stratoliner or a Roadliner
How dare you compare this flagship to a Yamaha 1300.
Lug lug lug. 😉
Shorts,no gloves no warm-up,really,??
dump tes wi not full trotell
Had one; good ride; impossible to love--worst sounding big bike I ever heard
I was actually offended
You shift way too early.
Really go past 70mph....your problem
no gloves no pants no fukin nothing
This dude wearing zero protective clothes.SMDH
Talk about a newbie with no gear on
Wrong.
"Not faster than a Vstar 1300" Bahahahah! Your joking right?! I'm getting 3.6 second 0-60 on mine. I love your vids and reviews but man did you miss it on that one. These bikes will yank you to the back of the seat.
yeah I went from a Vstar 1300 to my HD FLHT to the strat, and lol the Vstar has NOTHING on the strat. so not sure what he was talking about here
Nice knees... SMH
thanks i ve hasd them for a long time, but year of skateboarding and dirtbiking has been tough on them
Worst sounding bike ever
Sounds like a castrated squirrel
I had one
The busted speedo is common
$1200
Harly davidson
It sounds like crap not cool at all
I have to say, this was a very lackluster video. It was very"matter of fact"!
