I've liked Perdita ever since I first saw her on Midsomer Murders. She and her two siblings murdered half a dozen people. One of the best episodes of MM actually.
Haha I know the feeling. I watched that episode a few weeks back and I spent about 60% of it trying to place where I had seen her before (bearing in mind that MM is ollld). I always laughed at their bodycount compared to other theoretically more capable killers.
They made this show such a comfort watch, and it actually got better when they started dating. So frustrating that a show with loyal fans and good ratings still got cancelled. Sigh
Being the lone non-American had to make things a bit harder for Perdi but based on the pics & stories of the cast over the years they genuinely like one another and it shows in their work. They get along more than the cast of the other show that was filming in Hawaii for a while. And that was obvious after some years there.
NBC did not handle this show properly. Magnum should have never been scheduled on Sunday nights after Dateline. I am hoping that the remaining season 5 episodes will renew NBC interest and that will reverse the decision to cancel Magnum. It is so much better than Fire Country which I have subtilled, Falcon Crest with Trees. The relationship between the cast comes through with every episode. It reminds me of the friendships between the cast of Star Trek the Next Generation. It is rare to find a good show like Magnum with a terrific cast. NBC made a big mistake. They should have at least waited to see how the remaining season 5 episodes did in the ratings before making that misguided decision.

If Jay ever felt that Perdita didn't like him, they are both superb actors because their chemistry as Magnum and Higgins is off the charts.
