    How lucky are we to live in times where we can get a virtual 1 on 1 lesson from a top shelf gunfighter like MG? Im prior service Army, and I find that some of the training I received was not proper. Thanks for the uploads, and thanks for the sacrifices you made as a patriot keeping the wolves away. 🇺🇸

    The "boring" stuff you do before you leave the house every morning can be the most important. Dry draw/fire.

    MGA: "DAMN, I'M FAST"! Yes SGM, you are. Amazingly how I have increased my own times from your Gunfighter Pistol Course you recently gave our class at Range 35 in Grand View, TX (along with these videos) without a single mention of "front sight focus", and yet I've witnessed your effects on target. Even in our very fast cadence you had us repeat out loud - not knowing when you'd announce "THREAT" putting three to the center target and 2 to the top target ring; being on our front sight by round 3 or4 and vocalizing to our coah/shooting partner would ask us "what did you see as you processed through the exercise". Simply amazing how we would be on target with very effective hits even before getting on the front sight. To me, it was that my grip and "confidence" was without doubt or hesitation. WHOELSE teaches this real world "OH SH$T, WHAT DO I DO NOW?". No, have the confidence to break those shots - where you should know where and WHEN that next round is gonn break.
    Sorry for this being so long, but that training was PRICELESS. A million thanks SGM (MGA). STAY ALERT, STAY ALIVE!

    I practice this alot. Acquiring the grip has proved to be the biggest challenge. Especially from concealed, at speed. It throws off my sight alignment, and I have to adjust. But I've been practicing getting my grip first, then drawing. Owb is easer than iwb. U rock Mike, thank u sir.

    • @nameredacted1176
      @nameredacted1176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same. Especially from the 430/5 positions (appendix just doesn’t work for me). Clearing the garment to full purchase of a sub compact with a baseball mitt for a hand to alignment and first shot it’s definitely a multi step repetition over and over and over again. The good news is that it will be the fastest thing an attacker has ever seen when/if you ever have to get to work. Stay safe out there 🙏🇺🇸🙏

    • @darque1860
      @darque1860 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nameredacted1176 same here. I don't carry appendix, I carry about the 5 o'clock position, in my back. Clearing a shirt, getting a grip, and drawing and aiming in one smooth motion is hard enough, then u have to do it quickly, and hit what ur shooting at on top of it all. Practice, practice, practice...

  • @mummbamiester6338
    @mummbamiester6338 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your first point about aquiring the grip then producing the pistol really helped me be more efficient. That small detail was huge. Thanks for putting that amount and thought and detail into your instruction. I strive to do the same

    I JIST LEARNED SOMETHING!!!
    push DOWN on the gun? Have never been trained, most civvies like me focus on clearing the shirt and getting a grip/snatching that P229 out of the holster. This changed my whole draw. It’s why I tell everyone you’re my mentor!!! I am hoping for a class in Florida sometime!!! Brevard county class would sell out, sir.

    I’ve only got 9 acres with my own shooting range it’s nothing special but it is a place to be able to train freely if you guys are ever near Cincinnati Ohio I would love to have you guys over to shoot again it’s nothing special but we have the ability to move and train realistically as opposed to your basic indoor range or even outdoor range where they do not allow movement or drawing from the holster as at my house we have the luxury and freedoms to train how we want. With the exception of your ammunition it’s absolutely free at my house so I realize how lucky I am to have my own range that’s why I extend the offer to not only you but anyone in our community that is near Cincinnati Ohio please feel completely welcome and let me know.

    Good stuff Mike. I train to grab the handle and slide forward to the sweet spot before removing the pistol. Moving , turning, jumping, etc , you always get a firm grip . Glad you covered the night stand grip. Most don't break down that far. We need to know this shit for real.

    My God Mike, i have been following you since you first appeared on the Shawn Ryan Show. Your content is excellent and super useful.
    I have been working on my draw to first shot for over a yr. Best I could do was a semi consistent 1.38 to 1.45. I watched your video, conducted your micro drills, then put them together and my God, I dropped my draw to an accurate first shot to a consistent sub second. Average after 21 shots of 0.93 secs. Best of 0.79 secs. Worst of 1.08 secs. When are you coming to a state near WV so I can take your Gunfighter pistol course. Please keep up the great work.

    Your awesome Mike , I have been shooting revolvers, ( I'm that old) or pistol for 58 years. I'm now in my 70's and still shoot about 4 to 5 hundred rounds a week. When I was in my 30's and 40's I was asked many times is how did you get that fast? And at the same time they would say I KNOW PRACTICE. I would always NO not just practice. At first it is slow purposeful Perfect Practice. Speed comes when all points of the draw are put together Perfectly.

    When I got my new M18 I practiced the stuff I saw Mike doing with DJ and Cole at GBRS. It really helped to get me familiar with the Gun. Since then Ive still been doing those same drills. But also been doing AR 1 or 2 shots and transition to Pistol drills. Guess Ill start working on my fast draw now. I keep a pistol in my truck as well and for years have practiced pulling it and aiming it at different points as the truck warms up. Only takes about 1-2 min to get several drills in.

    Self-defense shootings are likely to occur within 10 feet. Draw to the retention index. Then just push to the short index, and on to the sighted index. Start shooting as the situation dictates.
    One draw satisfying all intervals satisfies Hicks. All draws should be accompanied by movement off the X. Equipping the most basic shooters with the skills for real-life scenarios is the most responsible training.

    Mike, I agree with your points. However hunters typically don't carry fast draw rigs as we don't want to lose a weapon due to heavy and trees. These rigs are tightly wrapped buttoned down etc. Be great if you do time and research into strapped down handgun rigs and bears are pretty fast when you need a sidearm in a real hurry.
