    I remember being a kid and seeing adverts on TV about detergent that bragged a lot about cleaning blood stains and I was like "why do they make such a fuss about it, it can't be THAT common to get blood stains! Compared to like green on your knees from playing in the grass"

      Try being a 16 year old girl, living off of legit 150$ every other fucking week because she’s the only one with a job in her family, who has a RIDICULOUSLY heavy 7-9 day flow and then tell me that they’re not fucking expensive.
      Just because the price+ tax was never an issue for you, doesn’t mean it was never an issue for someone else. Things that seem inexpensive for you, can be extremely fucking expensive for someone else.

      They are expensive when you add up all you spent over your life of having your period. lets say about $8 for two moths, 12 months in a year so that's $48. If you started your period at age 12 and ended it at age 45 that's more than $1630 for something that you cant control (and that's just women only using mabey 2 pads or tampons a day, not including heavier days or cycles so for some it can end up being more than that)

      Mother Nature wants us to breed, so she punishes us when we don't. That shit ain't a congratulatory message, it's a nagging parent wanting grandkids.
      @Isabelle- Lol, I once went about 7 months without bleeding at all. I was severely depressed at the time, and that's what did it, but honestly I straight up forgot that periods were a thing for that time. You're gonna be hating yourself when it comes back. Readjusting after just not worrying about it for that long period of time is gonna suck.

    I used to only wear pads but moved to a Diva Cup about 3 years ago. But, that being said, why do people rip on pads so much! I loved pads! Tampons freaked me out and I did try them a few times but just felt uncomfortable wearing them. Just because you wear pads doesn't mean your old or behind in the times. It's just always confused me why people give them so much shit. Obviously all us ladies got to use something for protection and if some of us choose to wear pads they must be working!

    • @justalittlebawn
      @justalittlebawn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Alicia for me, pads always made me feel gross, dirty and like I was wearing a diaper. I would have to spend 10-20 minutes cleaning up after each pad (which was about every 2-3 hours). It made me so uncomfortable I would only do it if I had no other option, and when I did I would usually leak because my flow is so strong my pad couldn't cover everything. I have friends who use pads, and it works for them just not for me.
      I also use a cup now and I love it! Personally, pads always felt really limiting, because I always felt unclean and was always uncomfortably reminded that I had a period. With my cup though I can't feel anything and I feel more normal on my period. I really really hate pads.

      I've never understood this mentality so are the companies a charity now or is the government paying for it which means we're paying for it anyhow? Also in almost all first world countries it's quite possible to survive not on the street without having a job homless people tend to have mental illnesses, drug problems or something else

    • @eizhowa
      @eizhowa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Samanta Gould Was the question directed at me? You didn't specify, but I will assume it was.
      The state would pay, not private companies. The way it works in my country is that you get paid a set amount regularly, that you are supposed to live of. The person then buys what he needs himself.
      The state does use tax money to fund this, but also income from State owned companies. Approximately 40% of all jobs in Norway are in the state-owned sector. But the state also regulates private companies, which ensures that drug companies can't overcharge for medicine, food/water/electricity companies are not allowed to cooperate to push prices up etc., which makes it possible for people of limited means to afford all the life neccesities. The US which frowns upon regulations have less restrictions on private companies, which makes for example medicine much more expensive. So the regulation on the private sector definitely helps social democracy run smoother.
      People who live on the street are primarily people unable to spend the money given to them on life-neccesities, but spend it on drugs/alcohol because they have an addiction. The state and charitable organizations tend to cooperate to give this group the best possible care. Primarily by granting the organizations who are good at this kind of work the neccesary funds.
      Hope that answers your question :)

    I have a question. I think a lot of you girls will agree. Why do we girls have to pay for period products? We did not wake up one day and said " Hey! I have an idea! Let's bleed from our vaginas and wrench in pain!" We didn't chose to have periods it's just natural. So we have to pay for stuff we can't control. I honesty think period products should be free.

    • @roisss
      @roisss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +85

      annalisse johns I agree to some extent.
      Period products should be free in public places, for example, Schools. It can come upon us at school time and we aren't prepared at all.
      Products sold in stores should definitely be cheaper tho. €7 for pads ( I use pads xD) is too much to pay. Especially when some woman/girls can go through a whole packet and possibly even more per month, not adding on underwear and painkillers.
      They can't be free because the manufacturers need the money to make them.

    • @ashleyashleym2969
      @ashleyashleym2969 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      But that wouldn't work. Its either you pay for the comfort of not being dirty or you be dirty. There isn't a period tax. You DO NOT get taxed for simply having a period! Most people CHOICE to be comfortable and use these products to keep clean. You can simply not use these products, no one is forcing you. A choice should never be free and period products are products of cleanliness......not periods.

      There are minimal cost ones and expensive ones. I've been buying generic since I reached adulthood because I can deal with momentary discomfort. After a while though, I'm sure prices would slowly increase just not to the same price they once were.

For everyone mocking us saying oh if y all shouldn't have to pay for pads and tampons we shouldn't have to pay for food and water, that's the point food and water are necessities and are not charged as a luxury becuase we need it women need these "luxury items" to keep ourselves and everything around us clean and safe from disease for crying out loud so sorry that we pay for overpriced necessities to prevent us from bleeding everywhere

      Interesting idea, but most likely not the best way. People who do this would come off as ridiculous or disgusting, and in a way that is true. Not only that people would be leaving bloody stains where ever they go (which I personally wouldn't mind that much), it's simply unhygienic. Period blood isn't just blood, it carries bacteria and other pathogens that could spread diseases that spread through bodily fluids, and for that I would most certainly mind. I support their intentions; for periods to be normalized and not a taboo subject, but there is a line when it comes to hygiene. Also, some people are just afraid of or revolted by blood in general, not just period blood. I would strive for period products to be made a necessity or at least cheaper, but this...is a bit much. I would understand if you actually didn't have the money, but of you do, you can just buy a reusable pad/tampon/menstrual cup.

      @@khadeejasiddique961 yes Scotland have made all pads and tampons free for girls and women. I'm not in Scotland but I pay about £1.75- £2.50 for a box of 16 tampons.

    Americans and their applicators, I'll never understand. It really isn't difficult to insert a tampon. Also, the cotton ones eliminate the risk of TSS, so I'd use those, except I don't think I've ever seen 100% cotton ones where I live.

    • @abcdef53015
      @abcdef53015 7 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      meikusje I'd be more worried using an applicator because I would just shove it in rather than feeling where it's going. Plus the guilt over all that plastic waste.

    • @yltraviole
      @yltraviole 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      abcdef53015 yeah, that exactly. So much less control. I just shove it a finger length in, and know it's right where it's needed

      Cotton has nothing to do with Toxic Shock Syndrome. It's the bacteria from the old blood sitting inside of you for too long.

      At my school, they have free pads/tampons in the bathrooms, but the female teachers supply it so it's kinda free but not so maybe like they all pitch in to provide them or they have a sponsor from a company.

    • @drakenfolk
      @drakenfolk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanted to cry when they said they just snag them from the bathroom and take a handful for themselves...!
      I wanted to bring up the "maybe provide tampons for the females in their bathroom?" discussion pretty often. Mainly in our favourite local pub. And the only argument they have against it is "No, we cant, people will steal them and they are to expensive". And im always like "Naah, people wont steal them, they will be happy they have free tampons on the toilet!".
      And now i'm sitting here, depressed that even women who are for free tampons everywhere apparently steal them. Thus preventing us women here to get free tampons at bathrooms... Its a shame they really are so selfish. :(

    • @renyputman7118
      @renyputman7118 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drakenfolk They should just get a vending machine and charge 1 or 2 ct, that way they are basically free and stealing won't be as common I think..

    • @roisss
      @roisss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leah Perkins Yeah, I get what your saying but we atleadt shouldn't be paying €10 that could last you 1 period. The prices should definitely be cut. And period products should be considered a nessecity.
