There is more to helping people learn than just 'teaching' or 'training' them. A former colleague, whose job title included the word trainer, hated that title. He saw his job as helping people to learn - a very much wider remit. That's just one part of the role of manager or leader. As an educator first and an IT professional second, I have found that guided discussion (usually as part of a standup) will open the group to learning opportunities. Since in IT there are many ways to accomplish the same end result, using the guided discussion method of learning exposes training and learning opportunities from each other and when it needs to more to a more formal approach. This also exposes the future leaders of the group. Learning from each other can be as important as structured classroom learning as long as a measured gain in knowledge can be tracked. Learning is a change in behavior resulting from experiences, hopefully developed by the team leader.

That's spot on. Managers should be taking any opportunity available to us, to support learning. And your stand-ups are a perfect opportunity.
I’m supporting ninja kids because they got a mean list of comments from people who don’t like them
Okay.
