I feel it is now necessary to mention this in case anyone is still having issues getting travelers to depart. This game is several years old now, combined with the fact that fewer and fewer people are carrying their 3DS around with them means that getting StreetPass hits from other people is quickly becoming very difficult if not impossible in some areas. Your travelers only leave your island when you happen to StreetPass someone who is able to receive data from the game. There really isn't anything left to do in order to 'force' travelers to leave other than just starting a fresh game. It's just the nature of the beast when games that rely on online or StreetPass interactions start to have dwindling audiences.
Yeah, that was the whole point of StreetPass. At this point though, the 3DS is pretty much a dead platform, and combined with the state of the world right now I highly doubt you'd be able to get StreetPass hits even if you did leave the house.
There’s your problem then. Your travelers can’t leave if they have nowhere to go. You need to StreetPass other 3DS consoles to get StreetPass hits. But here lies another problem...the game is several years old already and most people don’t carry their 3DS with them anymore. Honestly I wouldn’t be expecting travelers to be leaving any time soon. It sucks but there’s nothing much you can do.
I just wish there was a thing called auto travel that spreads the people who are playing it and not and send to other islands and you can send to next to ur neighbour island

+Tyler You have to walk within range of other people with a 3DS in sleep mode to streetpass them. There's nothing you can do if you don't have anyone else to interact with.
I have a glitch that I really want to know how to fix, and apparently I'm not the only one who has this. There's this bug where none of my islanders are ever asking for problems anymore, no regular problems, no friendship problems, and no love problems. The only problems that ever come up are playful problems and that's it. I've been playing the game since May and I've solved 6,880 problems, and now this started happening for almost two weeks now and it's giving me almost nothing to do.

Ivy Kowalis Once a traveler leaves your island, you no longer have any control over what they do. Nothing you do on your own 3DS will affect what happens to them. If they are picked up by someone who no longer plays the game, they are essentially forever lost. I've sent off probably close to 100 travelers by now in my game, and I only ever receive letters from a handful of them.

If she had gone to someone else's island, whether they play the game or not, wouldn't the game have added the island to my travel records when we initially streetpassed? Ivy Kowalis If the traveler was picked up by a boat then they have left your 3DS. The issue comes up if you StreetPassed someone who has StreetPass activated for the game, but no longer plays it much, if at all. I believe you actually have to run the game for the traveler to be able to send letters back which is when the stats get updated. Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's nothing that you did to cause it, it's just the nature of the beast when it comes to games like these.

+SMG3 Msp StreetPass can be activated once you've played the game for a bit and unlocked most of the different shops and such on your island. It's done via a popup that comes up that gives you the option of turning it on. Just keep at it and it should show up eventually.
I did the same exact thing, I deleted my data for I don't know why and now I can not enable it. It's gray and it won't let me tap it. I have all of the shops & such, except the ones that need Streetpass/Spotpass enabled. I sent out one of the babies that been born, and they didn't leave the island. I got that mii in mii plaza right now, what does it mean? And the day I saw that mii in mii plaza, there was a crowd of mii's in the plaza.
My ds' streetpass wasn't working so I deactivated it and reactivated it. All the travellers on the port disappeared. More travellers went to the port. This ds wouldn't charge properly so I played tomodachi on my 2ds which someone gave to me. Those other travellers had disappeared. Cause the streetpass was working, I had some of my sister's travellers were on my island and they had disappeared too.
So, this didn't work for me. I've tried it plenty of times and it didn't work. My travellers have left, but not by boat. They just kinda disappeared and it says they haven't travelled anywhere. There’s not really anything anyone can do at this point. The game is several years old, hardly anyone carries their 3DS on them anymore, which makes it a lot harder to StreetPass others. This is required to get travellers to leave properly and to receive other people’s travellers. Unfortunately that’s just the way it is. This game was best experienced when it was new.

Getting stuff from actual people should work fine, it's when going through the Nintendo Zone relay points that things can get screwy. Seems like it only works if there's data already saved at the relay point waiting to be sent to the next people to hit it.
CoolWhipMC No prob! I went through the same thing when I got the game. I wasn't getting anything at all from relay points. Read about this trick and tried it and it seemed to at least allow me to get some hits, better than nothing. Really wish Nintendo would address this issue.
So I turned off street pass for tomadachi life, and I lost all my Miis 😰 I understand what you did now and I got it working but I’m so sad because they all got killed

You have to StreetPass other people with the game to get travelers. However, this is a four year old game, and not many people carry around a 3DS anymore. Chances are pretty slim at this point of getting any hits.

Getting visitors to your island requires you to StreetPass other people with a 3DS and hope they have a Tomodachi save file on their system. Since the game is several years old now and hardly anyone carries their 3DS with them nowadays this is becoming very difficult. Not much anyone can do about it.

somersetkd This is why I recommended turning StreetPass off and on for something like SwapNote since that isn't really used much anymore, as it prevents losing data within games that make heavy use of StreetPass.

Basically if you follow the video's instructions it does get rid of the travelers but they don't go to someone else's island it just makes them go away. To get them to go to another island you have to be near someone else who is also playing the game. The problem is the 3DS and Tomodachi Life itself are rarely ever played anymore so it's highly unlikely you'll ever pass someone out and about who also has the game running :[ I've only ever gotten 1 traveler from someone and that was like 3 years ago so now I just play with my brother.

Explorers are never permanent residents, but can come back to your town for a visit occasionally. If you mean people who arrived in your town, you might have to streetpass the people they came from again. Unless I got it completely wrong and you meant something else. :0

Check your town hall in the game and see if you can turn it back on in there.
