  • They had it looked at a month ago by someone else, who apparently added refrigerant, not sure if the additional refrigerant masked or caused this later fault. System is 20 years old so advised replacement. The compressor sounds worse on camera than in person.

    From my experience of Zannotti equipment you’re lucky if it gets through its warranty without breaking. So how it managed 20 years is amazing. I’m surprised the drier didn’t get changed.

      Yeah, at the time I was suspecting the CPR valve so would have changed the drier then.

    Just scrapped a window wall GE unit, made in 1972, fan rusted off the mountings, along with the compressor, but the bugger still had the original charge of R22 in it. Kind of the opposite of this Zanotti, made when GE was still making stuff in the USA, Louisville Kentucky.

      They don't make stuff like that any more!

      @@heavydiesel Well, using the machine tag as a key marker, so it will live on.....

    Had one of those cpr valves lose full charge and kill a new compressor on a zanotti once too, lesson learnt!

      Expensive on the job training! We've all been there!

    What a beast, you earned your $$ on that one. Hopefully you get the install replacement unit. Thanks for the great video, stay well.

      Yeah, got to quote them on moving some equipment around.

    I suppose if you fit a new compressor even if the evap and cond coils are in serviceable condition you would be trusting the crappy old cpr valve, TXV and control gear which would probably ruin the new one. So I understand why it would be time for the bin

      Its on R404A too which is being phased out here. Time for a new one!

    Arrr after all that work the comp's had it, damn! Do you ever write off systems solely based on age and condition or usually attempt a repair first?

    • @heavydiesel
      @heavydiesel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually try and diagnose it first as if its something simple like a burnt wire it would be worth fixing. The really bad ones I usually advise the customer over the phone that its probably not worth fixing.

    Bloody Nora i mean at some point they gotta cut their losses and call it . I understand new equipment is hard to get by these days but they're just throwing money down the drain at this point .
