Hope you enjoy everyone. Apologies for the auto focus in the video. I had a bad scratch on my lens which caused me a bit of grief with the footage. Hopefully the story can pull it through and I'll get onto fixing that scratch for my next video.
Greetings from Santa Barbara California, I am a stay at home dad with my two kids, 4 year old girl, 2 year old boy, and we are just getting into camping and your video answers SO MANY questions. Thank you, I really appreciated this video, I want to be a better dad and do exactly this stuff. I'm glad you have the courage to do this activity.
Mate that sounds fantastic! Nothing better then getting the little kids out camping. Though I'd recommend starting off somewhere else besides snow haha. I bet you have so many great areas over in Cali .. The natural scenery over in the U.S looks amazing. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
@@Lukeslittletribe Well... from the other side of the pond, the grass is always greener, I could only dream of your lands, I am 31 now, I may not make it to your country in my 30's but the 40's who knows. You saved dad's a lot of yelling and headaches, we all appreciate you. Check out PyroPutty. You are braver than I... and I have so many stupid toys......you are a great dad..... 4:30am you care to share even more tips and tricks, we love you.
Thanks for that ervinslens .. I know snow and cold temperatures must be a common thing in Europe for you .. but it's a bit exciting and a novelty for us in australia
Well done, Luke. I did something similar with my two boys in Kosciuszko and had a similar experience. You did an awesome job, mate. My only advice when it comes to winter camping and kids is not making do with non-winter temp rated worn clothes or sleep systems. Their experience will be shaped by their lack of confort, and they won't have the amazing experience you had hoped they would. Good thermals, and layering, is essential, as is keeping them (and you) dry. Glad you intend to head back. Hopefully we'll get another good snow year. Good on ya, Luke 👍
Cheers Warren. All good advice and I will be certainly following that for this years winter. Good winter gear is not cheap, and we did this one on a bit of a budget, but I'll slowly be accumulating some 'snow gear' and not just 'winter gear' for more snow camping.
That was great mate. I really enjoy your storytelling. Good effort for your first snow camp. It's tough enough doing solo, so I have no idea how you do it with 2 kids haha.
Cheers scotty. Yeah it can be hard and at times i become the stereotypical grumpy dad grumbling bout the kids 😆 but seeing them learning so much from the natural world makes it all worth it. That and I always have a little time to myself at night round the fire with a hearty stout.
I stumbled across your Chanel and I’m pleased I did. Really enjoying your videos. You don’t need a lot of $ to have a good experience, end of the day it’s about getting out there. From watching this i want to take my kids snow camping now 🙂
Thats great! Really happy you were able to come accross the channel and thanks for watching. You are right, my family often gets out and enjoys things without using up much money. I will say when it comes to snow camping that it does pay to have a good sleeping bag and insulated mat 😂
Thanks mate I appreciate it. One of our harder camps that's for sure. Wet sock and wet gloves makes for crying kids in the snow .. but theys are already talking about going back 😆
@@Lukeslittletribe That's awesome! my little one is itching to go back too but we have another little one that just arrived so gotta wait a little so she is atleast 6months old? Maybe. Surely they won't mind if they were 4 months right? haha
@@TheDadventures Congrats on the new addition! I think the youngest age one of my kids went camping was 1 and a half years but that was far too late in life so 4 months sounds perfect 😆
@@Lukeslittletribe I'm going to tell the wife you approve of this! hahaha I would have taken her when she was 6 weeks but I thought the little one will keep all the wild life awake during the night haha.
An awesome video to watch; good on you for giving this a go. I've lived on the coast most of my life and this year was to be my first snow camp, but it didn't eventuate. I expect mine would have gone very similar to yours (freezing cold and no sleep). Thanks for sharing this!
Cheers for watching Jamie. Snow camping really is a whole nother ball game. But once you just get out there and do it you feel confident to give it another try. Next snow season I hope to actually do some back country stuff. Appreciate the watch and the comment.
Awesome job! Hat off to you for getting your young ones out there with you. Even taking my seven year old camping in the rooftop tent on a good day seems to add an unexpected level of anxiety, so two in the snow is a mammoth effort. Memorable trip for the three of you!
Start and link some crowdfunding sites, like the other channels that have the "Toast me a frosty, or fill me mug with heart" some silly line native to you, so we can donate and help. My dad groups would be happy to contribute to the smiles.
Thanks Christopher. Honestly at this point my goal is to just try and reach over the 1 thousand subscriber mark before I try anything like that. I'm very much a small channel and growth on youtube is very difficult so I feel I need to gain a bit of a following before I start doing things like that! But great suggestions that I will be considering in the future potentially.
It’s enough of a chore for us to take our children to the snow for a couple of hours, you must have the patience of a saint to take them camping in the snow😂

Wow so wonderful to experience this. Felt the cold watching it. :) thank you Luke for reminding us to appreciate each day regardless of the future .
Kudos to you! Camping alone with 2 little ones is a big enough challenge…. In the snow and trying to film…epic!
Haha I have to say this camp was one of the harder ones to take them along. They haven't asked me to take them back to the snow for camping yet
Wow, scenery and atmosphere are fantastic my friend. Gorgeous upload.

Great film Luke!! Courageous I call it... taking 2 kids camping in the snow!! Loved watching it!!
Maybe a bit silly you could say 😆
Lovely, this is something I wouldn't expect in Australia, lovely video and learned something today 🥰❤❤
Thanks for watching, you'd be surprised at how wild and cold Australia's mountain high country can get!
Unreal mate, very wholesome to see the kids getting around it
Thanks for that. Yeah have to start them young!

Well I just edit out all the bits where I'm grumpy and upset haha
How'd you go in a 3 season tent
Was bloody cold. The tent is fine, but needing a good insulated mattress and sleeping bag is the most important.
