  • After Current Performance picked up the truck to work some magic, we have it back. With a gas gauge !
    I had Nate ( Dr. Tune em ALL) come and tune it and make sure it's dialed in.
    The truck runs amazing and is as close to factory as you can get.

    Wow, I realize that the Colorado is a 2020, so it's almost brand new, but that LS also looks brand new and the swap is absolutely perfectly clean, so the truck itself looks like it came stock with that engine. Fantastic work!

  • @jeladsnikpoh1289
    @jeladsnikpoh1289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If this truck came with resonators in addition to the restrictive muffler, you'd be surprised how good it sounds putting the resonator back on and deleting the muffler instead. It'll be deeper, but still smooth sounding and likely just the right volume for you. Resonators are straight through, but do quite a bit to control the tone of exhaust and quiet it down a bit, but nothing like a muffler! If you like the smooth, deep tone of a Magnaflow or Borla (both very nice on Chevy LS!), you'll like deleting muffler and keeping resonator/s. A resonator basicly works the same as a small Magnaflow muffler, so It sounds similar, you also gain HP, torque, potential MPG, without spending big $$! Also, if you like the flat torque curve, keep the restrictive existing pipe, it's flattening your torque curve, but sacrificing top-end Horsies. I recommend deleting cats if you can, and heat-wrapping the front part of the exhaust. The wrap works well to boost torque by keeping exhaust gasses hot at low rpms, forcing it to scavenge better. It also keeps underhood temps down, possibly helping power that way too (cooler, denser air going in). Downside to exhaust wrap?, possibly shorter life of exhaust pipe, but I've never had problems.

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Changing mufflers and cats are not going turn a V6 into a V8. Lol. Mufflers are sound suppression devices, depending on the position it will help change the frequency, often referred to as a resonator as it’s placement helps with low frequency known as resonance. A modern factory muffler isn’t too restrictive, nor is a cat. I have quite a bit of time under my belt doing this kind of thing.

    • @jeladsnikpoh1289
      @jeladsnikpoh1289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LHTPerformance I agree with you that those simple changes won't turn a V6 into V8, but mufflers and cats ARE restrictive, especially if you're building the engine to make more top-end power. Not restrictive under normal low RPMs, but certainly at top. If you're running a V8 with the old V6 exhaust system, it certainly is restrictive now! The resonators cancel out certain frequencies without restricting exhaust flow. But it seemed to me by your video, you were asking for suggestions to make it SOUND better, and removing muffler certainly will, while picking up a couple horses. You commented on the flat torque curve, and much of that is because your smaller V6 pipes behind a v8 has more restriction at lower rpms (where an engine isn't pushing out as much air), causing more pressure for faster velocity (better exhaust scavenging). Better exhaust scavenging at lazy rpms equates to more torque. But it becomes too restrictive when the engine is pushing out massive quantities of air at high RPMs. With my engineering experience, I find you get the best of both worlds by removing restrictions for high rpm horsepower, but keeping high exhaust velocity possible for more low end torque by not going too big on the pipe, and keeping it as hot as possible.

  • @joellopez1637
