    This figure has some of the best articulation Hasbro has ever done. Why they can’t make Spider-Man figures with this kind of range is beyond me.

    $30 is extremely high when you compare it to the S.H. Figuarts DBZ figures for $35. When you compare what you get between the two Hasbro is definitely shorting the customers.

    Hasbro used to be pros at executing butterfly joints, but between this guy, Vulcan and the new Disney Plus Hawkeyes it’s like they’re not actually testing the joints before the products go out. They’re clearly not allowing enough clearance for the joint to move properly which has never been a problem in the past.

    4:05 - Damn man. So like more gummy than a normal hasbro figure...that's saying a lot. I know it's been said ad nauseam, but it really doesn't seem like _that_ long ago when ToyBiz Legends were $7.99, and came loaded w/awesome accessories like full-on dioramas or a freakin' vehicle. Don't we just all want to go back in time. Forget all the negative stuff we know, but still retain all the knowledge we've learned. Then start working for toy companies and cranking out 2022 style aesthetics and articulated 6" figures for under $10.

      Pshh, man that was like yesterday lol. I mean relatively speaking to you, yes that's a long time ago, but I'm that middle aged guy that's always mistaken for a 23-year-old. You definitely would've been alive when Legends started; that was only 20 years ago, unless you're like a Doogie Howser and graduated college at 17. It actually started with the Spider-Man Classics line, which off the top of my head was like 2000 maybe. And I can't remember when ToyBiz lost the license, like around 2008.
      There's definitely been way more Hasbro than ToyBiz for sure. It's pretty amazing that so many ppl your age are collectors. Back in the day I'd prefer my friend to buy me figures, cause it was embarrassing.
      "Yep, picking up these figures for my nephew's birthday." Then I got to a point where I said fuck it, I'm embracing my love of little dollies.

      @@Chalor. My mistake, I was including Spider-Man classics when I was talking about the whole “I wasn’t alive when Marvel Legends started” thing. I was born 2001, finished high school in 2019, and then finished college this in 3 years (graduated in June).
      I don’t know man, 20 years is a long ass time lol. Just because it doesn’t feel that long to some of you older cats (no disrespect intended), doesn’t mean it isn’t a long period of time. If you ask a 90 year old they’ll probably tell you that 50 years isn’t a ling time because time is relative. But that doesn’t mean that 50 years isn’t actually a long period of time lol

      Oh yeah, a lot of $10+ figures look like a gumball machine/happy meal toy. Some of the best ones I've noticed lately are the Jurassic Park figures. And the only ones I can think of that are $9.99 is the WWE basic 6" line. I think the 3 3/4" Marvel 5 POA figures are more than $10 now.

    As much as I hate to admit, this figure has the greatest range in hip articulation than any figure I own. The crouching poses you can get from this figure is awesome. Better than all the Spider-Man figures which is weird, but that’s how Hasbro gets down. On the flip side, the plastic feels like play-doe. I don’t think the joints will hold up over time. So Hasbro didn’t knock anything out the park with this figure. They just did the hips extremely well. But they still dropped the ball on alot of other things.

    Had to reorder this one from Entertainment Earth since BBTS wouldn't be shipping til sometime next year. He came today hence my visit to your review. I must agree, with the few minutes I've messed around with it since opening him, he's super fun to pose around! I made a classic Avalanche and Destiny to complete my Brotherhood. Took the Mastermind head from the Wyngarde figure and put it on a Moebius body with a custom duster. Not a bad place holder til a more official version drops someday.

    My space for X-Men villains is pretty crammed so I'm waiting for a sale price for this figure at the very least. I saw it in person yesterday and it did look good, but that same place was selling the Diamond Select LOTR Moria Orcs for a discounted price that was so much less than Toad so I went with them instead.

    • @juansanchez209
      @juansanchez209 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Toad is never going on sale. He’s a very iconic X-Men character and this is his first 6-inch figure in 20 years. I wish he was cheaper, but if you’re interested in him you need to buy it now. The price on this figure is only going to go up as time goes on.

    • @tomtudorweaver1078
      @tomtudorweaver1078 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juansanchez209 Either way I'm just going to wait and see, Toad's not a super essential character to me so if I miss it I won't lose sleep over it.

    • @juansanchez209
      @juansanchez209 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomtudorweaver1078 That's a very good mindset and I respect your approach to collecting. Too many collectors obsess over being completionists and are scared of missing out on releases. At a certain point, it's more of a compulsion than collecting for fun lol
      That being said, I'd argue that Toad is a very essential character for an X-Men display. He's been around since the Silver Age, he was part of the original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and has appeared on almost every iteration of the team, and he's still around to this day. I think he's much more essential than other X-Men villains like the Reavers, Caliban, etc.

    • @tomtudorweaver1078
      @tomtudorweaver1078 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juansanchez209 Believe me its hard to not just order it or go out and buy it now despite what I said, heck I've got Pyro and to me Toad is a more noteworthy villain than him IMO, and Toad has that all new body and more paint than some Marvel Legends. It's riding that line where like you said, he's essential, but there's other figures out there of characters that I'm more attached to and they're cheaper. Currently Toad and that Venom/Knull 2-pack are both on my radar of wanting them, but finding it hard given their prices.
      With my collection I stick to the main stays of Marvel from my childhood, so Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man/street level heroes, and with that their appropriate villains. Guardians of the Galaxy, Inhumans, New Warriors, X-Force and any variants on those teams, all of that is off the table for me. That helps me not fall down the completionist rabbit hole, plus I try to stick to just one version of each character and only going for ones I hold nearest, pretty much my only exception is having a regular and black suit Spider-Man. With that I'm pretty much done with some like having my complete 90's X-Men team and the Fantastic Four.
      That said even with that I only have so much space, my villains shelf is probably my favorite part but its mainly dominated by Spider-Man and various Avengers villains, the X-Men rogues are pretty crammed so as much as I'd like say Bonebreaker, he simply wouldn't fit without a lot of rearranging. Toad though I probably could squeeze in, but either way I'm going to hold off for a little bit before I get another figure in general, that just comes down to budgeting.

    As long as they keep doing swivel waists, they will never truly have great ab crunch. Mid torso cuts are nice but only serve side to side rocking action. Until they go with ball jointed waists, the ab crunch on their figures will always be meh.

    Thanks for the video UP. I love how Hasbro put some thought into the buck (exception - arms). I wish Haslab would re-patriate and stop with the $300 big ass figures now the Sentinel and Galactus made it through. I would love Haslab to do stuff like concentrate on the X-Men 1st class, or the original Avengers with dioramas. Get their MCU design team (and $$$) to get behind it for some quality products that properly represent the characters and would be for the serious collector. Imagine the original 5 X-Men in a Danger Room diorama, or the Avengers in a lounge at Stark mansion diorama - this is what I am hoping for. The tiers could be an Arch Villain or seven , but I would incorporate a "Bring on the Bad Guys" wave throughout the year with a BAF part for a big badass.

      @@MattEldritchHorror that could be done for tiers in my concept - variants such as yours. Neil Adams colors X-Men; GS X-Men or Lee's. Give the collectors three options with most votes wins. The Bad Guys wave would involve variants of the villain line-up incl/BAF.

    Hasbro’s butterfly joint engineering is trash. That hinge setup is never effective. Ball jointed butterfly joints should always be used. Hasbro should really copy import style butterfly joints as much as possible. But again I say that drop down hip on Toad is the best I’ve ever seen. Import figures can’t even crouch like this figure.

    The figure looks cool, but I'm cherry picking harder than ever and it's just too expensive and Toad isn't as character I really wanted or liked enough to get a figure of. But to be fair, besides Magneto or the big guns I was never super into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
