Excellent solution for any vehicle to reduce voltage drop to a load. For those who want to replicate this solution, I suggest the Ford solenoid is fine but overkill (a starter solenoid controlling the starter solenoid = redundant). The control circuit current in the start position is typically

Sherwood Lee This is the way we did it back in the day when I was a VW dealer mechanic. I attempted to go the Bosch route before settling on this solenoid. Couldn't get the Bosch relay. Was told they were discontinued.
