    Written Review of the Cornwall IV: www.stevehuffp...
    It is Music Night! While staying at home during this crisis, I have been listening to so much music, on a few systems that have been sent to me to evaluate.
    These Klipsch Cornwall IV speakers...well, they simply must stay as they are some of the most pleasing speakers, most satisfying speakers, I have ever owned in my life. Yes, I have had more modern looking speakers, speakers with higher grade parts and speakers that did all of the "magic tricks" many audiophile speakers do but these are different.
    The Cornwall IV speakers are a huge step up from the III, and some of the best speakers in the world under $10,000. They come in at $6000 for the pair with matched cabinets, and made in the USA heritage.

    I bought a pair about a year ago and I figure these will be my last speakers. I kept bouncing around with different speakers untill one day I said to myself "what am I doing? I like Klipsch, I am not an audiophile so lets get a new pair!" I told my wife these would be my last pair and we laughed. At this point though I am sure they will be.

    Thanks! It's a big rich sound, yes, but to my ears, also slightly aggressive at the top end, where the bite of those guitar licks pins my ears back in a way that could get tiring. Yes, the vocal sounds live, dynamic, assertive, but on the cold side of neutral, as if the music is coming from a slightly bright over-resonant venue. Maybe I just like a warmer sweeter tonality with more air on top. Have you tried anything acoustic?

  • @naturalverities
    @naturalverities 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So happy that you used this track for demo, as it is very familiar to me. It may be limitations of the recording and room, but I have to say that what I am hearing is not as juicy and spicy as I had anticipated compared to the original recording, and given what I hear from my best home system with DIY speakers of similar configuration and scale (except for the addition of an 18" sub ;-> ). The dobro lacks that ear-tugging sear, and the voice lacks the taut, wrenching, blood-and-guts fundamental heard in the original recording that makes jaws drop when I demo, which these drivers should easily be able to achieve, especially in a smaller room (my listening room is a 1000 sq ft open rafter barn loft that takes some filling). Maybe you are getting bass nulling from your smaller room? Based on my experience, I suggest that you try taking these speakers to the next level by triamping them with a DSP active crossover and adding a bit of selective delay to time-align the signal paths. I think if you do you will not only get a more coherent lifelike tonality but will also vastly improve the spatiality and imaging on the best recordings. That is what I did to obtain seductive sound I had never dreamed possible, and from relatively modest vintage pro audio drivers and consumer grade electronics. Think Kenrick Sound quality (best as I can tell). I'd love to give you a demo! Cheers!

    I have a set of Cornwall speakers and I have had no problems with them. I have even taken them out of the house and played them in very large rooms the size of 2 basketball courts at events. I ran them on a NAD power amp and got so many people saying that they were blown away with the sound they produced. They played all evening at very high sound levels with no problem. LOUD. I would recommend Klipsch speakers to anyone wanting dynamic live type sound. Their awesome. Anyone got good music to recommend to listen too on Klipsch, let me know.

    • @deanjenson3132

      Hey Tim, I am running Khorns with Mac Amps. I always buy music that a reviewer says destroyed his speakers. I can recommend the following 2 recordings for large dynamic swings and a dense feel to them. La Bamba, Klavier K77017. Jazz Variants Track 10 travels between about 1/3 Watt and 100Watts w/o touching the volume knob! Extreme dynamics. Monty meets Sly and Robbie, Telarc SACD 63494. As soon as you start playing this SACD you will know what I mean by dense. I also really like the music. I would be interested in hearing how Cornwall 3 and or 4s would handle these 2 discs. BTW, these sound even better with the lights down and a IIPA in hand!

      So not true. These excel at small scale jazz, intimate vocals, and acoustic more so than rock. In fact, these are not great Rock speakers when compared to the Forte IV. They do good with rock, but that is not their strongest area. These version IV from Klipsch are incredible and do all kinds of music very well. I prefer my Heresy IV and LaScala's to any speaker I have ever owned from any other manufacturer. Even uber high end ones.

    They are great with lower powered amps because of their high sensitivity rating of 100+ db, but for big speakers, they can't handle many watts. 100rms is disappointing for these behemoths. My step-dad had the cw 3s and constantly blew the woofer running off a 100watt/ channel receiver.
