  • The roll cast is a way to place a bait in tight quarters without skipping it. Baits that don’t skip is what I’ll use the roll cast for. Spinnerbait, crank bait, poppers etc these types of baits are what you want to roll cast.
For any of the gear I use all season long you can get it here: www.basspro.com/SearchDisplay...

Thanks Ott. I was a spectator for the tourney you were in on the Clermont Chain. I watched you casting and noticed your roll cast was different than mine or any of the other pros.
BTW, thank you for being so accommodating to us fans. Such a respectful guy. God Bless.

2-25-23, I would have like to see your complete rod and bait to visually see how you are looping the bait and where your rod tip was at release. You do this so effortless I honestly didn’t immediately know you had even cast the bait since I couldn’t see
the rod tip. I will watch it several more times and then practice off my dock. Thank you for sharing all the tips you do Ott.

It’s low at the release point for sure. Knee level maybe. Hope this helps!

Superb content never had the roll cast explained and then demonstrated so well.
Really like the family oriented DIY "wallpaper" in your garage
My sons are now young men
I truely miss when they were that age.
I always were a true marksman with a spinning set up but struggled with pin point baitcasting accuracy took more than a few days of just practice casting with a baitcaster using different luer types to finally get pretty good and once I became good my bite ratio went unmistakably up by a significant amount
Took this video with me to my local lake (smartphone) and it took a while but I did get your casting method down well enough to use and like waving a magic wand I absolutely got more bites that day especially on my heavier baits that make a more pronounced splash as the enter the water.
Thank you for helping me be a better angler
Sincere hopes God blesses you and your family with continued success and good health

Oh yeah it helped!!! I been doing it for a while but I been exactly backwards with which hand I use. It just felt awkward the way I was doing it!!! My rod is a ancient pistol grip lews 6 foot I think. Appreciate it buddy we’ll keep soaking it up!!

I taught myself how to cast left handed in the yard casting at a bucket once I got comfortable I started putting the bucket in different areas with different obstacles obstructing the trajectory so I had to cast from different angles it really helped me a lot

Yeah Ott, few people teach casting and you have such respect throughout the industry and casting techniques definitely separate the pros from the joes 😜😎👏👏👏👏🎣 Thanks for the lessons 🙏

This is great practice and fun. I stand on a cornerstone in my yard and flip into gold pans that I place in different spots under a tree. It's good practice and fun when I'm stuck at home

Good video Ott. I got hooked on roll casting, watching Hank Parker years ago. If you can learn it,, your caught fish numbers will go up!!

Great video, I started roll casting with the pistol grip rods so that kind of dates me but it is a great technique to learn.
Good luck on the tournament trail.

Thanks for teaching this. I am just learning to use baitcasters, so it's l very helpful. Just one thing, could you show the action of the whole rod and just the tip. I am a visual learner, so it would help me duplicate the cast.

Need a diff camera angle ott maybe over your shoulder looking down. I practice w my left but I'm not accurate an it feels like rod is coming out of my hand. I'm descent w this roll cast just not consistent

Do you think he rigs his trailer like that on the jig? Or is that for safety purposes while in the garage.

    • @cliffordhutt143
      @cliffordhutt143 ปีที่แล้ว

I think it's the latter here. He even says he usually uses this cast for treble hook lures that don't skip well, but I can imagine he didn't want to be flinging them around the garage.
