I was sure I could do it on my own. For goodness sake I am a firefighter. (Retired) I went into burning buildings, why could I not do this alone?
@@lynnlafler2768 I'm an ex-police officer (20+ years). Like you, I saw things, and do things which can kill most people not just physically but mentally too. I try to explain my feeling to my family, and friends, but no one understands what demons are tearing me apart. I wasn't alone, but I was lonely.
Now I live my life, trying my best, looking at the light end of the tunnel.
@@serenityhunter1971 Hi, I have to tell you that I hate the weather here in the Finger Lakes when its hot. It has been above 80 all week. The black flies are here and bite terrible. So can't go out.
I do understand about being in law enforcement. When I started in '73 with the local fire dept. I met many great guys in the sheriff's dept. Like all good Americans I have a Scanner to keep track of the new kids. But I truly listen when they go on a call. It hurts me to hear some of the calls they have to answer. Sometimes it's 2 or 3 nights in a row for the same person.
Now the teenagers have picked up the habit of threatening suicide. Gets them their own deputy to talk with and maybe a nice 30 mile ride to rehab for an overnight visit.
Fantastic songs like this are helping me with my 36 year battle with alcohol abuse . 4 and a half months sober . One day at time . Thanks FDP
