Spencer, the last year of my life has been very difficult, there are days when I could hardly get out of bed. I connected with your grandfather and through his movies he got me through my days. I have sat here and laughed and forgot my troubles. What a talented, wonderful, gentle soul he was. Thank you for this tour of his home, I truly enjoyed it.

Charlie Chaplin has helped me through feeling lonely and down. My disk drive is broken on my laptop, so I'm unable to watch my Charlie chaplin dvds. So was actually looking on here to watch something of Charlie chaplins. I ended up watching this and was amazed! I love your grandad in Limelight. 💖

Claire, if I may butt in. I’m mobility challenged. I survived a suicide attempt at Terry Ambrose’s age. I became a carer and thought that if the person I cared for left me I would attempt suicide again, but instead my life and career flourished. To say I relate to Limelight is an understatement-it restored my will to live, which was tenuous at best. I am pleased that it had a positive effect on your mental health as well. Keep fighting!
You’re not alone. Charlie Chaplin came into my life, and suddenly, I found myself smiling again, even in the darkest moments. It's remarkable how his presence, through his music, shorts, and even his audio-biography, fills my days with warmth and inspiration. Charlie Chaplin is more than just an icon; he's a true miracle, a beacon of hope that continues to shine brightly in my life.
I want to say because of Charlie I was the black sheep growing up in the 80s. On Friday nights Disney Channel played silent films and I would laugh and forget the times I was bullied at school. Your family has helped so many find their smile....
One of the most amazing n beautiful people on earth was Charlie Chaplin ❤️🩹🌺🙋♀️
I still think Charlie Chaplin funny as hell, never gets old watching his silent comady and films to this day, museum tour by his son and grandson put a 😀 on my face.

So do I, I really would love too. But I’m getting on, 74 and live so far away, in Canada. What a GREAT man, a definite genius who could learn so much and accomplish so much and Oona was absolutely amazing and it looks like they were the perfect couple.❤❤❤
The fact that Charlie Chaplin was born in 1889, 132-years-ago, and his youngest child is only 59-years-old is kind of mind-boggling.

Loved Chaplin growing up,.....I first saw him on TV in the late 60's at age 4 (Boston,Mass)...they had Saturday night silents on our local channel,....I believe my generation (born/1960's-early-70's) will be the last to remember Chaplin,....GenZ's could care less,....it's been awhile since I watched Chaplin, I catch a few CC/flicks here on TH-cam.

I am now 62 years old ;and unfortunately, I missed out on all of Chaplin's films; but now, I have started watching them , and appreciate Charlie's delightful presence on screen,and think to myself how grateful I am that his work is on film , and that I didn't leave this planet without the glory of watching his films!!

I visited this mansion almost a year ago in June 2020 for the first time (I also made a TH-cam video about it). I was highly impressed to see the house, park and the village around it with my own eyes and I am still thankful that I got the opportunity.
Living there as a family was surely a blessing.
Though it must also surely feel odd to know that your (or your father's) old home turned into a museum ;)

I noticed all the children oona had from Charlie when they were young looked so much liked her even engine Charlie's son who's now a grandfather looks so much like his mother oona,

Well written. He was a genius and learned so much on his own, similar to another genius who came from your country: Rudolf Nureyev. I’d love to visit both museums. That’s on my bucket list. His wife Oona was an absolute incredible person as well, to have had and raised eight magnificent children and done so much for her beloved husband and family. I’ll be reading her biography as well.

I grew up watching the old time movies like Chaplin; lauran+hardy buster Keaton; Lillian guish the silent movies ,what ever it was about them it entertained me to enjoyment ,I was 5 tv came out +watching movies on tv was like been in the land of make belief it fascinated me and Sundays was a special time for me as we would go to the movies to watch such movies on big screen my nanny would say it was the magic movie angel 😇 ,I'm 56 now and I still love those good old time movies,,r,I,p,to all mentioned +especially my idles charlie and Mary pick ford, without them movies would not have been as they were +are now today,☯️🐦🌻🌈💙☀️💟✌😂😁

I followed your musical travels with pride. I also walked around the Manoir as they were renovating. The weeds were so tall I screamed out "Olivier!!"
Many memories I have living there watching you grow from a little boy, to a fine young man!!
The memories are so dear to me that something in me cannot go see the museum (which I just did, thanks!!), but I need to preserve things as I remembered with the families, Henry, Leroy's stines malade, tickling Kevin, and many more dear memories.
I have been back in Switzerland for a few years, but low key due to circumstances. I hope to see you before I go as this is my last hurrah.
I will go to the museum before leaving though. It is only fitting having sat with Eugene as the people involved with the museum discussing details.
It was a true privilege to live with you all, walk the halls of your grandfather, and much more.
I thank you all for such an experience...truly.

I enjoyed this video very much. I can clearly see through Eugene what wonderful parents Charlie and Oona were. It seems they gave their children an exciting and loving life. Thank you so much for showing us this lovely home. We have a vast collection of British comedian Sid Field. I know Sir Charlie Chaplin was a huge admirer of Sid's and invited him to his parties. Would you know of there were any photographs of Sir Charles and Sid together? We have searched high and low but have not been successful.
