We too are excited for Tori's new adventure! Trish- as I watched your expression on your face in this episode as you drove away, I could feel your pain as a mother letting go of her first born and really feeling the pain of recognizing our children are a gift for such a short time! However don't worry Tori will still need you and your guidance through her college experience many times over. Love your videos, and remain completely addicted to watching them ! The two of you are very talented.
I cried when Tori left too. Adulting is an amazing adventure.
When I saw this video pop up I had to think of what day it was. What a nice surprise.
At first I couldn't believe Tori was missing out on a trip to Alaska, but then I remembered how I didn't go with my family on vacation the summer after high school graduation. I had the house all to myself. My mother didn't cry when I went off to college, but she shed an ocean when I moved across the country 4 years later.
I cried with you Trish when you headed off without Tori, but then Carson saved the day with the classic question, “are you crying; Mom?” Totally the exact same thing my son says to me in those emotional moments. I found your channel a month or so ago and am really enjoying your family and your travels!!
Although Tori has Mark's red hair, she looks just like her beautiful mother. If she is growing into half the woman Trish is, she will be just fine in her journey. My only daughter is 23. Letting go and letting them learn from their own mistakes and find their own life path is very difficult. Just remember to give yourself a pat on the back every time you look at her and reflect on how you helped her to be so great. P.S. They never stop needing their momma. Just how they need you changes some. And YAY for season 5!

Trish, I felt your sadness over Tori. I've been there in the empty nest, and I just wanted to say it's sad for awhile and then things change, evolve, grow and become as equally wonderful in a new way. We made the conscious decision to give each child the lead when they left home, and for the most part become the one who reaches out to us when they felt the need or desire to see us, talk to us, come over. More in an energetic way than in a "who calls who" way. And by golly, all of them did. We're in our 60's now, and they still come, still call, still love being a family with us. After watching you and your family, they'll all come back to your loving arms. Oh, and could you add that Margarita recipe to the down bar? Sounded awesome! Happy travels. Love your channel.
We just added Firestone Airbags to our F250....man, game changer in our ride! Our rig is a little heavier (13k loaded); we initially installed Timbren Springs, pulled those out after a year and installed Firestone. Mercy. Huge improvement.

The two times I drove up to Alaska with my Ford truck with a 460 gas engine and trailer, I had 4 - 55 gallon drums full of cheep American gas which I transferred to my truck on the Alcan Hwy. The 4 drums of gas lasted me all the way to Alaska which saved a fair chunk of money. Then filled them in AK and returned the same way. Now days I am not such a tightwad but it did work as that truck averaged 5-7 miles to a gallon.
Congratulations to Tori, and to mom and dad also! What an incredible accomplishment, and such a touching speech from your sweet daughter! Caleb is so fun to watch, and I think he'll surpass her in height!
And, that BLM looked like an RV resort, I love it!

Omg, I started tearing up when I saw the sunglasses on Trish. I couldn't talk after sending my baby off to college either. It's been 5 years and even though this is going to be his 4th year of grad school, I still cry every time I have to say goodbye. I think it's amazing that you've been able to do this with them, I'm sure you're all aware of that. Enjoy your travels, I can't wait to see Sunday's video!
Oh Trish, my momma heart wanted to hug you, I know those goodbyes are so tough, they don’t ever get easier. Mine are now 36 and 30. You’ve both done a marvelous job with all of your children. It’s a blessing to watch them fly!
Aw, Trish's tears had me in tears! Just sitting here thinking about my kiddos who are 9 and 6. We work hard to prepare them to leave the nest, but I know I'll be a mess when they do. Once my husband retires from the Navy, (8 more years to go! lol) we plan to full time travel (either via RV or boat), so I love watching your videos and living vicariously through you guys for now.
My son just graduated from high school and I just started crying watching your video with Tori leaving. I’m right there with you! Super emotional. 😭🙂
That was a very sweet video. My family and I just love to watch on Sunday night as a new video starts the week. The Wednesday videos are bonuses (I love them but try not to burn out as this is a lot of work.) Hey fellows give Mom a hug as even I was tearing up watch the Ginger Princess leave to start her new adventure in Collage (I think?) Trish is so sweet and can that Girl cook. No really, can she? Over the past six months our little family of three have been transitioning from our sailboat to an RV and proper tow vehicle. We love your videos and yesterday we purchased our RV. Last night we reached the point in your videos where you bought your Grand Design. This made us VERY happy, because we just happened to buy a 2019 Grand Design XLS 21BHE. We are not full-timers, but I can work remotely and my wife is an educator, so we are looking forward to summers seeing the National Parks with our 10 year old son. Thank you for the education!
So sweet to watch you say good bye to Tory. It is true, we only have our kids for just a few years, then they go their own way. Mark was right- at least you had a couple of years together full time-- great memories you are making for your family. Safe travels and God speed.

We sent our oldest Daughter to college last year after homeschooling her for 12 years so I can relate. It will get better as you all adjust to this new chapter in your lives. Congrats to Victoria and safe travels, can't wait to see what adventures await you this summer.

Can’t wait to follow you through Alaska. You guys will be the third family I have watched going to Alaska in their RV. Another TH-camr Gary and Stacey Quimby (Pau Hana Travels) posted miles driven and fuel cost after each episode plus they added the total nights of free camping and paid camping. So by added your fuel cost in your travels will be a great help for us to use as a reference point to plan our trip to Alaska. Thanks for the great content

Congratulations Tori. We just took our camper to NJ for my nephew's graduation. We stayed at NWS Earle navy campground. Three nights, $75. Living the dream.

Awesome trip ahead, safe travels! We moved our daughter to South Dakota from So. Cal. two years ago to go to school. She graduated in May and is starting her career there. It's hard to let them go but so rewarding to see them grow and (adult).

I’ve cried those very tears. I’m lucky though. My oldest Daughter is 28 and we talk on the phone at least 5X a day. My youngest son uses FB messenger to text me during the day. My other two I hear from weekly. So text Victoria often, call her when you can, it makes the separation easier. Good luck on your new Adventures Victoria!!! Congrats on your Graduation. I have five kids and I can tell you seeing the first off is the worst. The next one, I was glad to see graduate, and the next two were okay. Then the baby graduated. Oh, my, Gosh! A house never felt so empty. I can sympathize in spades. You just need to enjoy the boys and keep in close touch with Victoria. I made the mistake of microwaving my honey. It turned dark and I had to wait until it cooled down to use it. Good luck with the new season.

It's hard to see your youngest all grown up, graduated high school, and start college. Know you both have raised an amazing young woman who will stand on her own two feet (because of your love, structure, discipline, and guidance). Tori will make you both proud!!!

Love Moab, and can't wait to see your fun there! RE-the milage record-we have a calendar we keep in the RV where I List odometer, trip meter, gallons, mpg, and total cost. On our longest trip, from near Austin, TX to Nashville and back home, it was great to see the total stats, as Trish said. And I also keep track of our trips, maintenance records, and any other interesting information.
Awwwww.... love the video. Tori is so grown up. My babes are 3 and 7 and man....it goes fast. So I can't imagine how it must feel to send one off to college. So glad to have found you guys and be apart of kyd insiders. So inspiring!!!!!

Ohhh, this is so exciting. Huge congrats to Tori. My grandson (I'm old, lol) just completed his first year at UT Austin. The drone footage is awesome, and I enjoy the windshield time lapse too. It's cool to see a little of where you're going. The ending shot is beautiful. Ok, Love it All, lol ;-) I'm excited for you guys and looking forward to the many awesome shots of scenery.
Mark, in '16 we went from Okeechobee, FL to Fairbanks, to the spit and then down the Cassier hwy and back to Florida. 15K miles and $5K in gas. The exchange rate in Canada was on our side, so not sure what it is now. 2 months of awesome! Have fun, we may make the trip again in '19.

KYD, We have spent a few weeks catching up (not exactly binging, but binge watching by our standards.) And in a few minutes we will be caught up. Now we will have to wait between episodes (sad face). Love the channel, love the journey.

Believe me, I know that look. It's the same look when we dropped off our two boys at prep school. As parents, we must "allow" our children to grow into the adults we always wanted them to be. It just happens before WE are ready. She will do great!

Y'all are wonderful parents!!! It's very telling when kids are respectful and happy! Tori, a little tip for your "adulting",. Never, EVER be afraid or hesitate to ask your "Daddy" for help and hugs when you need it. No matter how old you get. I'm 55 and still call my Dad, Daddy at times. Also, Mom is a super person to go to for "adulting" female advice stuff.... For later. You'll know. 😉

Oh, man.. I'm dreading the leaving-for-college thing! I try to look at it as we'll have an easier time visiting them when they're in college if we're mobile. :) You guys are so lucky to have had the extra time with Tori the last two years. One of the many, many benefits of what you guys are doing!

Hi Trish, I know that look!!! I have 4 kids and they all left the house within 3 years...so hard, yes I always cry. In May, the baby of the family (6'2" big boy) just left for Thailand, Australia and New Zealand for maybe 2 years!! The other 2 still live in Whistler so I see them every month or so (we're on Vancouver Island) Thanks for all your great videos and information, such a treat to watch your adventures! Will you be going through BC on your way to Alaska?
